I know you need an RGB scart but I've heard/read up and apparently people get issues depending on what saturn they have, of course theres a chance that I wont have a single problem with the scart I use but apparently some people get issues with instability or whatever else.
So can anyone give me some information on what i'd need to do to get the best picture/stable picture if I get any issues tomorrow when my jp unit arrives? xD
it's pretty strange considering i have bought some uk rgb scarts and they all work fine with my uk console but apparently the jp units are strange and some people get issues with ntsc scarts or whatever else.

JP if you must abbreviate Japanese please guys, we've already established that some of our Japanese friends on here find the other term offensive, not telling you off or anything, just a friendly request

Also as a note the abbreviation in question was never considered derogatory in the UK (It is the UK equivalent of 'JP') however American soldiers during WWII abused the term - that's how it became assosciated with racism.
On a related note, did you know that Chinaman is considered a racial slur?
Myself and no other Chinese people I know had no idea!

Yeah the link you posted is the one i ordered, the japanese scrat for the saturns but he mentioned some of his users saying that some of them get issues like unstable picture and running it through some kind of composite thingy fixes it. Not sure.. I'm not worried though I'm sure it'll be fine, besides I can live with a slightly crappier image quality for a day or two before if worst comes to worse with the rgb i ordered. just wanted to know and wow is JP offensive to japanese? I honestly never knew? I mean on websites and stuff when items are listed or other game lists you always see JP or JPN or JAP etc. My bad I'll keep that in mind, I honestly didn't know!

The problem usually occurs because PAL Scart cables use PIN1 for voltage to the signal pins on the SCART cable. For standard SCART cables a certain amount of voltage needs to be applied to certain pins to tell the TV it's a RGB signal. If you use Pin 1 that's fine for PAL consoles but on NTSC consoles that's composite sync, so the voltage of course changes causing strange things to happen while you are playing.
Actually, for the very best picture I've found using the composite sync line instead of sync on composite video is necessary. Without this, I notice some weird crawling effect over certain coloured parts of the picture, while other colours are completely stable. Could just be the shitty XRGB3 that needs it though.
However, good luck finding a SCART cable wired for composite sync!

Well someone here must know the best way to go about this I mean loads of people have japanese saturns with top quality. I'll just wait for them to explain what they did and what i'd need. I have never messed with this stuff. I've always just used RGB scarts.

Ahh sorry Mick I honestly didn't know! I'll keep that in mind! In regards to this topic I made, My white saturn arrived, as did thr RGB ntsc cable i ordered, plugged it in and it seems to be perfect. Lovely crispt clear image and colour with no unstable picture or issues from what I've seen Sega rally feels so much different in 60hz too I know the pal was optimised but I dunno it feels different, much more smooth and way cooler. Absolutely loving it!

You should hear all the insults people have for Canadians. I say just try your UK RGB SCART first before ordering another cable. You might get surprising results.

If you read my previous post, I ordered a specially made NTSC rgb scart for saturn, plugged it in and it works perfectly. So I'm a happy bunny. Loving it!

The Japan model puts out a proper clean sync signal on pin 1 as someone else already said, the PAL version puts out 9 volts on pin 1 and uses compost video for the sync signal.
The sync signal from pin 1 of NTSC should go into pin 20 on the SCART connector instead of pin 8 like it will on a PAL SCART cable.
