hi peeps i did some reading and some of them say that the model 1 PAL saturn is easier to do than a model 2 is this true?
i also cant find any diagrams for a model 1 to region switch.
i have about 4 loose saturns pal and so want to mod one to see how easy it is. i really dont want my japanese one or vsaturn to get sun damage so makes sense with all the pal ones lying around.
no i am not a horder i just like buying job lots as its a better way to get a bargain lol. although you end up with loads of pal saturns and copies of virta fighter and tomb raider

PAL models up to VA5 (early model 2) are the easiest to mod: just connect the two middle pins of SW4 to an on/off switch. SW4 is there at the back next to the battery.
Later PAL motherboards, as well as all known NTSC ones are a bit more problematic. The fullproof method is to lift pin 79 on the VDP2 and attach it to either +5v for 60hz or GND for PAL (or leave it free since the pin is pulled low by default). It's possible to get around the pin-lifting, but then you have to cut two traces and solder some extra wires.
Region switching is identical on all models, and controlled by jumpers JP6 to JP13, which act as a binary switch to determine one of the 16 different regions. There are plenty of guides for doing that, and the only difference between boards is the location of these jumpers.

Please post pics of serials on the back of each machine (clear ones with good focus, so all text is readable). It's possible to tell the motherboard type from the serial, and how to mod it as well.
