hi guys hope someone can give me some advice on this one. i have a pal Saturn and have recently bought the action replay play plus 3in 1 cart. (action replay+4 MB memory card + 1m/4m expansion ram card) from play Asia. it works fine with every jap import game i have except for x-men vs street fighter and marvel vs street fighter. what happens is the games load up but the sound is laggy like a skipping record and in marvel vs some of the background picture is missing and the intro keeps resetting after a few seconds of demo play . now as for the gameplay that's perfect i can play both games fine. ime thinking is there something wrong with the 4m ram part of this cart as i have fatel fury 3 and kof 97 that i believe use the 1m of ram and these play fine. but if that's the case shouldn't these 2 game work at all. I've searched all over the net for answers then came across this site as it looks to be active with Saturn gamers thought ide give it a shot. i hope somebody out there has any ideas on what i could do to improve the play of these games as its a shame to play these 2 classics this way. thanks in advance.

ALRIGHT... Yeah, I'd say you were pretty spot on with your estimation of there being a fault with the 4MB activation within the cart, as I doubt... highly doubt it can be BOTH of your games. Shame you don't have any other 4MB titles you can try to be sure (i.e. Vampire Savior, for example). IF... you bought it recently and you have only just taken delivery, I HIGHLY recommend contacting Play Asia with your fault, as they will most probably replace the cart for free. I once bought a GCN > PS2 adaptor for use with Tatsunoko vs Capcom on Wii, and when it arrived, within that week, it suddenly stopped working: kaputt! I contacted them, explained my plight and they sent out a replacement (without needing to return the faulty unit). As long as you sound genuine and honest, I doubt they'll have an issue. DON'T hold me to that though, lol! FOR WHAT IT'S WORTH... I'm on my 4+1 AR myself anyway. My first 'com port' version gave up years ago for no reason, and then my 2nd 'non com port' version died not long ago too. My current 4+1 works fine as a RAM cart, however, won't let me save out of the save transfer window without freezing (thus, not saving f*ck all). Can't have it all I guess? ALSO... KOF 97 does indeed utilise the 1MB RAM for gameplay, however, FFury 3 does not, thus the shocking framerate on certain stages (from memory, Bobs is super smooth, but the other 3's [Mary, Joe & Franco's] aren't). Shameful oversight, because that game SHOULD have been a near perfect port

Marvel vs SF works flawless for me with an action replay.

The problem might be that you're trying to play an NTSC game on a PAL console. My Saturn has the 50/60 Hz mod switch and I had the sound problems you describe when I first tried to play Marvel vs Streetfighter. When I flicked the switch over to 60 Hz mode, the sound was fine.

YES! OF COURSE... ^ THIS ^ Completely forgot about that! Like kidchameleon said, running either of the vs games on a non-modded PAL console will result in sound issues etc. I reckon this could VERY well be the case for you too

I can confirm that Marvel vs SF goes crazy if you run it in 50hz mode.

thanks for all the info on this, i sent it back and had an e-mail today saying:- Yes we have received your item, we will send it back to our supplier for repair and replacement. Once we have the replacement from our supplier we will contact immediately and arrange for the resend.
so i have to assume there was a fault as they said they would test it when they got it back, will see what happens when i get it back.

MSHvSF doesn't work at 50Hz. Found this out years ago.
You need a 60Hz console or a mod switch. Only way, sorry.

The only difference it would make is to add even more input lag.
Always turn your TVs game mode on to reduce input lag as much as possible. It's still going to be high (and generally look poor) if you play your Saturn on a HDTV but might as well do whatever you can for free.

No, of course not, how could it? Your TV cannot magically affect your Saturn.
