Hey guys,
got a saturn model 2 here which came this morning, was hoping to play deep fear after I clock off, but it doesn't seem to spin discs, i've opened it up, checked the ribbon cable and the green plug but nada.
You can see the CD spindle move say 1 click when you power on but thats it, any ideas?

move the spindle by hand and just make sure it's not fouling the casing...

It moves fine mate, not catching or anything, I even tried reseating the ribbons and checking it while the saturn was apart and same issue

Have a good luck at the mechanism, make sure there's no foreign material in there, if it moves ever so slightly but not fully it sounds like it's jamming.

Worst case scenario, I have a good spare model 2 laying around...

Could be that it's not seeing the disc, it won't spin discs unless it can see a disc. So bad laser or the tray is too high/low.

I had one like this and I fixed it believe it or not by keep prodding the laser with a cotton bud, I think when cleaning it initially I must have poked it too hard or something. Probably in transit the laser's got jolted or something.

Ok mate I'll try that, hopefully pulling out the ribbons and reseating them hasn't caused any other issues!

Just tried the cotton bud on the lense, no such luck, does anyone know if I could put the mod chip into a model 1 or would it be easier to transfer it to another model 2

OOOOHHHHH... you're using a modchip?!
Is it a Racketboy? A Racketboy chip did the exact same thing to my Saturn. After removing the chip the drive worked again. (Build quality on those chips kinda suck)
CD player's green boxes that turn into red spheres when music plays stuck at red spheres?
