Hi guys, I'm new here and I hope I'm posting this in the right section. As you can see from the title, I'm having some trouble getting my beloved Saturn Bomberman to run on my laptop, using SSF. I've read many things online and searched the web far and wide and was unable to find a solution, so hopefully you would be able to assist further. Here's the thing: a friend has a Sega Saturn and the EUR version of the game. However, since I do not own a Saturn myself and am a big fan of this game, I thought I'd try emulating it. So I've backed the game up as an image file in .bin and .cue format. My laptop meets the requirements for SSF easily and I've been able to run games, such as MK Trilogy without any issues whatsover, but Bomberman... that's a different story. I have the latest version of the emu - SSF_012_beta_R4 and I've set it up to read images from Daemon Tools. As I said MK Trilogy runs just fine. Actually, Bomberman runs just fine as well, until you start an actual game (e.g. Story, Battle, Master Game). Then, the emulator immediately crashes. I'm using a Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit OS and I've also tried running the emulator in Win XP SP 3 compatability mode. Alas, the same thing happens. I've tried changing the regions in SSF, also the EZ settings... still, nothing. I'm not using any Saturn BIOS, as I was lead to believe that you do not need them for SSF. I must be missing something, however. Any help, tips and tricks would be immensly appreciated!

All I can suggest is running it with a EUR bios file selected, I've had a few titles that don't like running using the no bios option.

Thank you for the promt reply, mick_aka! I tried your suggestion and there is an improvement. The game is now able to run for almost two full minutes without crashing! I've tried with all different BIOS sets and tried changing the regions of the image file of the game. The best results (as posted above) were with the EUR BIOS and the standard EUR PAL region. Well, at least I tried. I guess I should start looking for a Saturn system somewhere and a copy of Saturn Bomberman so I can enjoy the game at my leisure. However, if anyone has any other suggestions, I'd be more than happy to read and try them! Thanks!

Try older versions of SSF. With the newer ones some games stopped workign while others started working. All the core main titles work perfectly but the lesser first party titles not made by SEGA are where it changes.

Aydan, I seriously love you, man! :3 You've solved the mystery! I checked the compatibility list and it actually stated which is the version of the emulator that runs the game! For the record, it's 0.09 Beta R3! The game runs flawlessly now and I can finally enjoy it at my leisure! Many thanks, man!

Hi, I'm also trying to run Bomberman on SSF : the solo game mode is working, but the battle mode freeze right after the "Go" message at the beginning of the match Running on windows 7 64 I tried versions 0.08 alpha R11, 0.09 beta R3, 0.12 beta R4 and always got the same freeze To be more precise : the emulation is not frozen since I can still see the animations on the background elements, but the timer is not ticking and nothing else moves Any idea ? thanks !

Roll back to even earlier versions if you can, see if that helps.
I have quite a number of SSF versions on my system for reasons like this.

You guys are probably using broken CD images. I've just tried Saturn Bomberman (PAL) and it runs perfect on SSF.
I think the USA version fails to boot because the lack of modem emulation, I don't know if that was ever fixed though - I remember the Netlink Browser booting somewhat so it might work too.

Hi, I've rolled back to version 0.07 beta R10 and the battle mode is working ! It's not perfect since I have an error message randomly popping in the menus or at the beginning of a match (_DriveStatus_Play() error. Fatal error.) but it's not blocking and doesn't happend during the game. So thanks a lot (for those looking for it, all versions of SSF are here : www.geocities.jp/mj3kj8o5/ssf/files/index.html)
