Hey guys! This is my first post here but I did have a quick read of the rules and I believe I am posting this in the right place haha. Basically I've been a run of the mill collector of games for a long time and a few years ago ran across this demo disk in a game store. I bought it at the time thinking it might have been a magazine promo, however upon trying to find it over the past couple of days cannot find any information on this thing anywhere! One person I know also has one who was a manager of a game store when the Saturn was new; the only thing I can think of is perhaps this disk was sent to stores to put in their kiosks back in the day. However I thought I would turn to the Saturn experts on these forums If anyone here knows more about this disk or could direct me to someone who does I would greatly appreciate it! Many thanks again guys and sorry if I've messed up or anything Picture here:

Interesting. Can you tell us what does it read in the inner ring of the disc? There should be a serial number on the disc there, something like MK-81020P-00749.

Hi, bloopface, would you mind dumping the ROM from the disc and uploading it somewhere?

I suspect this is either some previously undocumented version of the same demo as featured on Sega Flash Vol. 2, or it's the full game in a promotional form. On the other hand, wouldn't it be great if it turns out to be the mythical pre-release build that supposedly included a full debug mode already unlocked and extra multiplayer options removed from the review/retail code? I can dream!

I never saw this demo disc, and so, I didn't have any record for it on satakore.com This is a great find. I now need to add it to the site. May I ask you: Can I use your photo on satakore.com ? If you think about selling it, pleases contact me, I could be interested

Having thought about it, could this be similar to the other "demo" type samplers that Sega Europe had pressed around the same period as when NiGHTS came out (late 1996)? I'm fairly certain someone here once mentioned owning a promotional copy of Sega Worldwide Soccer '97 that was just the full game with a different label, and I recall there being similar discs pressed up for Daytona USA Championship Circuit Edition and Virtua Cop 2, plus Fighting Vipers - I might be wrong, but I remember the latter being sold via eBay in this form.

I wouldn't be surprised if it is just the full game, that's why I asked for the CD inner ring code. It can be confirmed from that.

They have "SOE" in their serial numbers. For a demo of Fighting Vipers PAL, I never saw it. Do you have any information/photo ? For this nights demo disc, matrix number could help. Btw, it doesn't have a serial number with "SOE", but this is not a way to be sure about its content.

As I've said before, NiGHTS, SWWS97, Daytona CCE, VC2 and Fighting Vipers were all part of a major promotional campaign across Europe, where Sega even launched an offer with select retailers to give away copies of Christmas NiGHTS to any customers who bought two or more of these titles. During the research for my now-dormant project, I briefly chatted with someone from HHCL Brasserie - the agency hired by Sega to create its television advertisements in this region between 1996 and 1998. In addition to once spotting a similar "demo only" version of Fighting Vipers on eBay years ago, this source also confirmed that such discs were received for all of the games they had been contracted to feature in their commercials. Despite this, a spot for Virtua Cop 2 never aired, even though its sampler definitely exists. Curiously, while the clip showing FV has now been preserved, its respective demo disc remains elusive, but the plain silver review variant showing the final retail serial number is definitely out there. After the initial wave of adverts, HHCL only produced two further clips in the same series, being for Manx TT and Sonic R. While the Manx TT ad was included on the Saturn Sizzle VHS tape, Sonic R wasn't released until several months later, though I can confirm from the description and handful of low resolution screenshots in a magazine article that it was definitely part of the same campaign. Quite why Sega paid so much for just seven* individual pieces over the course of the Saturn's life in such a lucrative market as the UK remains one of the company's greatest mysteries...
*Along with HHCL's spots for NiGHTS, SWWS97, Daytona CCE, FV, Manx TT and Sonic R (the latter yet to be made available online, to my knowledge), Sega had previously spent a small fortune enlisting Rocky Morton, notorious for directing the Super Mario Bros. film, to shoot the elaborate Finishing Touch, as seen on the Video CD Card Sampler and also included at the start of the cassette that came with the first issue of the official Sega Saturn Magazine. By contrast, print and radio media was handled by McCann Erickson, whose Eardrum sound division controversially paid an inmate to lend his unscripted comments to an award-winning advert for the original Virtua Cop.

Hey guys! sorry its taken me a while to get back to you here Here is a picture of the serial: in case you can't read it, says: MK-81020P-00749 B I haven't actually tried out the disk yet, but will set up my Saturn when I can and will give it a quick spin. It's pretty scratched but looks like it will still play I never saw this demo disc, and so, I didn't have any record for it on satakore.com This is a great find. I now need to add it to the site. May I ask you: Can I use your photo on satakore.com ? If you think about selling it, pleases contact me, I could be interested Sure feel free to use the picture! Glad I could help contribute to the database As for selling I honestly have no idea. I originally wanted info on it but feels a bit wasted in my collection now I know that it's pretty damn rare! Would probably be better suited to a saturn specific collection. I'll think about it Thanks for all your help so far guys!

So according to the matrix number, it is the same as the released PAL game: complete game, no difference. Too bad it is not a really special demo for Nights But it is always great to find new disc for Saturn. Thanks again for the pictures.
