ok so I,m new to Saturn bare with me I allways wanted one since last year when i played panzer dragoon orta on Xbox so I managed it get one 2 weeks ago but I had nothing but problems I though it be a good idea to get a model 2 region free/50 60hz switch modded pal Saturn from eBay as I am interested in playing Japanese and America Saturn games
so the saturn came popped panzer dragoon saga in and it would not play it said that this game is unsuitable for this system so I contacted the sell said he replace it so got this so called replacement (I think he just toke the old one back and tryed to fix it) and it worked...for a hour play saga then turned the Saturn off to go eat dinner so come back to play again and nothing same message popped up this game is unsuitable for this system i,m at my wits end I think I be sending the Saturn back and getting one that not modded but I still wanna play America and Japanese games help!

If it says "Game Disc Unsuitable", then you have a region problem. If it only says "Disc unsuitable", then it can't read your backups.
Did it have a region free bios, or one of those switchless mods? If it was the switchless mod then I think you need to manually cycle to alternate regions.

Not surprised then. So many people report problems with switchless mods.

Burn region patched backups, use the swap trick. Cost: some duct tape or a rubber band. Modchip, plus region patched backups. $30 or so. You need to solder a power cable. Use an Action Replay. $30-50. Action Replay flashed to Pseudo Saturn. Same cost as above, but you need to use the swap trick to run the patcher disc. Region Free bios. Can be bought for less than $10, but difficult to install if you don't know how to solder. Get a Japanese system. Nowadays I see loose Japanese systems for $50 on ebay.
I prefer PAL units with the region free bios, since they can be used with the official RGB cables, which are the best quality cables. NTSC systems don't work with those, due to a difference with the a/v connector.

I would recommend if you are going to be using games for multiple regions that it would be good have the have or do the toggle switch mod. I have used the action replay cart for many years, but now my cartridge port no longer. works.
Getting a mod chip might be nice, but there hard to come by and you should research the vendor. I've tried to get mod chips twice now for my Saturn and they have never shown up. If you can get one they should be pretty easy to install and would give you the option to play backups when your originals start to have issues.
