Hello Friends,
I´m having problems with my saturn (rev.1) that i recently bought.
the saturn simply cant read any burned discs... neither music, neither games it only read original or prensed discs. burned discs dont even spins or are reconized ive tried even with ps1 discs and cd-r's dont spin but prensed and original ps1 discs spins and are reconized.
anyone can figure out what is this problem? ps: sorry for the text, english is not my native language

If I understand your question correctly, you are trying to play burned discs on an unmodified Saturn. To play burned discs you'll need a mod chip or do the disc swap trick. There may be some other options out there like pseudosaturn but I am not well versed in any of these methods as I only play original games.

I think he's trying to say the Saturn won't even attempt to read burned discs but it reads pressed discs fine. Normally it would at least spin up and list tracks, state the disc isn't recognised or something to that extent if it's unmodded.
In my experience if the disc doesn't spin then the lens isn't detecting a disc. Maybe try another brand of CD-R?

The tray might be out of position.

No, the little black round thing you pop the disc onto.

I had this exact problem a few weeks ago.
Mine was also a model 1 Saturn, bought on launch day, and every sign pointed to it being a problem with an ageing laser. The key fact is that pressed discs are easier for lasers to read than burned ones. And though with certain brands of CD-R you might get better results, if the laser is dying the brand won't matter.
Actually, my laser was not so far gone that it couldn't read ANY burned disc; it varied from game to game: my Saturn read and played without issue Sega Ages: Outrun (J), the Panzer Dragoon games, Shining the Holy Ark and a few others. But Duke Nukem and Exhumed failed to read at all (disc just kept spinning). Shining Force III loaded but had disc read errors during battles, and Burning Rangers worked for the most part but crashed at the end of the first level, and then subsequently failed to load at all until I turned the Saturn off for a few hours.
This last incident is a strong indicator that the laser was not only straining to read cd-rs but that strain was weakening the laser even further.
I solved it by a buying a model 2 Saturn, which have a reputation for being able to read cd-rs more easily.
So I strongly suspect you will have to do similar, but you can carry out a few last checks before you go down that route:
1) Make sure the disc image is good. You can make absolutely sure of this by ripping an original game yourself, and then burning that image to CD-R. 2) try different high-quality CD-R brands. 3) try different games, like some of the ones I mentioned.

I believe there are laser module used by Saturn and it's like $20-25 a piece. Certainly cheaper than the Saturn console me think.
