I'm getting ready to go play some Wipeout now. I played Sega Rally Championship last night. The Saturn has an awesome lineup of racing games.

All console Doom ports suck, a lot of people had a pentium PC (and this was a game for the 486 originally) by the time Playstation Doom came out, let alone the heavily delayed Saturn Doom so it was hard to care about either. Both had the crappy music too. Nowadays you have Doom multiplayer clients with dozens of players playing coop with ridiculous maps with like, 100 spider masterminds so even less reason to care about Saturn Doom. I really enjoyed the PSX version of Doom. I actually play it even more than the original PC version. It is true that the Doom community nowadays is still huge (I actually post regularly over at Doomworld Forums) and that all the sourceports like Skulltag and ZDoom are impressive, but I still almost prefer the console ports better. But that's coming from someone who's more of a console gamer than a PC gamer. As for the Japanese version of Doom on the Saturn, I'd really like to get a copy of it, but I'm not prepared to spend over $40 on it. Is there anything different about the Japanese version other than framerate. I tend to remember hearing somewhere that the music tracks are in a different order on the Japanese version.

Thanks for the welcomes. Luckily I've gotten quite a few other Saturn games besides Doom (I got Sega Rally Championship, Quake and Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 in the same day). I'll have to post the status of my ever growing collection in the Post your Saturn collection sometime tomorrow.

I have to say that I am thrilled to find a forum that is all about the Sega Saturn! Considering that the Saturn has to be one of my favorite systems, this is quite an interesting and awesome find. So, to give a little info about myself... I am from the US, so most of my games are from here (naturally). However, in the past few months, I have branched out. I bought an Action Replay 4 in 1 cart and have bought a few Japanese imports that I have been having a LOT of fun with. I am also expecting my first PAL game to come in the mail soon (A copy of Wipeout 2097 from France) and I hope that it will work well with my all NTSC set up. Sadly due to my age (I just turned 17 two weeks ago), I don't remember the Saturn during it's original run. I did however buy a Saturn a little over two years ago, with a small collection of games to go with it. The main reason why I bought a Saturn? To experience and own the Sega Saturn version of Doom. I am a huge fan of Doom, and I was quite amused to see the "lackluster" port of it that the Saturn got. I did enjoy it however, and it didn't give me a bad impression of the Sega Saturn, otherwise I wouldn't have signed up here. So all in all, I am really excited to have found a forum on the Sega Saturn! Hopefully this will be a long and enjoyable stay!
