Mint SWWS '98 and a vg copy of Crusader: No Remorse plopped onto the mat this weekend. Crusader is one of the few Saturn games I passed on back in the day. This copy is in French, but it doesn't matter as broken controls and ugly gfx are the same in any language Nice shelf ornament though. SWW Soccer '98 I've played loads and is still as good as ever.

I actually like Crusader quite a bit. Id agree controls take a bit of time to get used to but its really a PC game.

Picked up a copy of Hardcore 4x4.
It's somehow better and worse than I expected, but it's one I'm glad to have in the collection.

Those repro guys always go down, new ones then pop up. Or you can just goto Etsy.

Picked up a complete copy of Shining Wisdom. Puts me at 4/6 for the Working Designs set...leaving me with Sega Ages (too expensive for what it is) and Magic Knight Rayearth left.

Good catch. Doing the Working Designs set is hard, and expensive in 2019 tough at least you live in the US. I dare not count how much importing mine cost me in 2017 :/
MKR is a hell lot of fun too, WD made the right decision regarding which games to translate.

I got most of the WD early on which helped. Hopefully you're not going for disc variants too Magic Knight Rayearth is the only one I got the disc variants before but only because I fell into them. I know some people who do this get 3 complete copies but for me all I wanted was one complete copy and then the other 2 discs with sleeves to put in the same case.

MKR is a hell lot of fun too, WD made the right decision regarding which games to translate. The Working Designs Sega Saturn world was quite a rocky one but overall its a good set. Magic Knight was actually a launch title that stuck in translation and legal hell. Vic (WD president) told me on his new message board a couple years back that he wanted to give up on the title because of all of the trouble but his lead programmer sort of urged him to still get it out. Thus it ended up being the final Western released Saturn game which I actually love. Its a fitting send off for the console. As far as the games WD chose, Vic said he slightly regretted Albert Odyssey. It wasn't the most well received RPG at the time (although WD fixed a ton of issues from the JPN version making it more playable). WD rocky relationship with Sega cost us a lot of really good titles. They had planned to release Lunar Silver Star Story (basically their baby in the US) on the Saturn along with 2 shooter packs that included in total both Thunderforce Gold Packs, HyperDuel and Blast Wind (they actually advertised these at E3 1997 before the booth fiasco). Another RPG they had the right to that he said they might have brought over was Tengai Makyou: The Apocalypse IV. And obviously everyone expected them to do Grandia since they had the relationship with Game Arts. Dragon Force was a great choice obviously, and the only WD game to make it Europe luckily for everyone. Iron Storm is the most underrated choice. Considered by some to be one of the greatest war sims to come to the US ever. But its not a sexy RPG so it gets a bit lost. Magic Knight Rayearth is a great one. Its just has a lot of charm and its easy to pick up and play. <iframe width="19.24000000000001" height="3.240000000000009" style="position: absolute; width: 19.24000000000001px; height: 3.240000000000009px; z-index: -9999; border-style: none;left: 15px; top: -5px;" id="MoatPxIOPT0_61475516" scrolling="no"></iframe> <iframe width="19.24000000000001" height="3.240000000000009" style="position: absolute; width: 19.24px; height: 3.24px; z-index: -9999; border-style: none; left: 907px; top: -5px;" id="MoatPxIOPT0_82087963" scrolling="no"></iframe> <iframe width="19.24000000000001" height="3.240000000000009" style="position: absolute; width: 19.24px; height: 3.24px; z-index: -9999; border-style: none; left: 15px; top: 103px;" id="MoatPxIOPT0_19376558" scrolling="no"></iframe> <iframe width="19.24000000000001" height="3.240000000000009" style="position: absolute; width: 19.24px; height: 3.24px; z-index: -9999; border-style: none; left: 907px; top: 103px;" id="MoatPxIOPT0_27203519" scrolling="no"></iframe> Sega Ages and Shining Wisdom were ok choices in their own right but probably not 100% necessary for them to do. Although Sega Ages was actually a freebie that Sega of Europe gave them in a trade for their Dragon Force translation.

Great piece of infos here, especially the missed attempts on shooter packs. For sure if those Tecnosoft games made it to the US, and with Working Designs behind them, you'd see some tremendous price tags on them today.
Well, I guess JP release of shooters may still be enough. Plot is "save the universe".

I just got a bunch of stuff on an akiba trip so I'll just share the highlights - Paneltia Story - kind of an RPG maker-lite sort of thing? Albert Odyssey collector version - comes with a cardboard sleeve and an art book and stuff. Now I'll offload my regular JP version. Universal Nuts - I always wanted a cheap version of this because of the dumb title Kunoichi Torimonocho - an adventure game with card battles. not that exciting but I'm trying to get all the late saturn titles, and this one's 1998. Sugobencha Dragon Master Silk - a board game, but I liked dragon master silk a lot so I'll check it out. Nothing too exciting, because most of the exciting stuff I either already have or is too expensive!!

This sounds fun because I'm actually seeking the regular JP version, code T-1514G. Maybe we can conclude a transaction when you get back home Oh, and if you see a copy of Conveni Satakore or Greatest Nine 98 Satakore (with their spine card), think about me, those are last 2 missing for my set.
Have a nice trip.
