VERY unlikely, I've never heard of a Plasma/LCD/LED HDTV that correctly handles 240/288p signals no matter what mode you set it to, but it may have reduced the input lag down to barable levels and if you're happy that's all that matters. VERY unlikely? what you talking about? The Kuro i have cost an arm and a leg... It has various interlacing modes to compensate for various scans... plus the game mode. The lag is virtually non existant. Actually on a kuro VGA and component dont use the video processing (commercial stuff so to speak). Speaking of which, I checked out some Pioneer TV's - needless to say, I won't be having one until my master's degree...

..but the Saturn's output is not interlaced (except in some exceptions like Virtua Fighter 2 and the Radiant Silvergun title screen). HDTV's see the Saturns 240 or 288 progressive signal (that used to be called non-interlace in the day) and mis-interprets it as a 480i signal. This has various results, see retrogaming.hazard-city.de/ for more information.

Hey guys, finally got the cables. First impression: WOW, the diff in colors is damn amazing! The Saturn is pretty much tailored for use with scart RGB, it has improved every game noticeably, however, the Genesis is another story... the colors in all games with this cable are DAMN BRIGHT. No matter how I try to tune the TV settings, I can't get it back to what I'm used to... also, the signal is much sharper, however, I think composite blurriness does the Genesis good... the console, IMO, looks better with composite than with SCART RGB. is my Tv to blame? the cable? my eyes? settings? lol, help me out here guys.

Composite blurs the picture a lot, and game developers often took advantage of that (for example: dithering to mimic transparency or extra colors).

I'd try replacing your Genesis SCART cable, sounds like it's not wired correctly.

Yes PCEnginesales have been pretty good for me in the past. You say Rob do you mean as in Robert Fletcher of Retrogamingcables.co.uk? I have one of his MD cables and it's perfect, so I guess that isn't the cause. You using any kind of processor or just going directly to the TV?

No, Rob of console goods. And it's direct to the tv's RGB SCART slot...

Probably your HDTV then, no HDTV works properly with the signal the Saturn and Megadrive puts out, though trying a different cable is always worthwhile. Failing that, the Lenkeng LKV360 Scart to HDMI Converter Upscaler can now be obtained for around £50, and will vastly improve all your retro consoles on a HDTV.
Some do some don't.
