Did my usual runthroughs of Daytona and Sega Rally, spent a little time in VF2, and then started digging more into Street Fighter Zero and Manx TT.
Manx TT is definitely interesting. I used the 3D controller so the turning isn't too bad. The helmet view makes me uncomfortable in turns so I stuck with the behind view. Going to take some time to get better with the game.

I´ve been playing Exhumed. Damn, that game is really really good. I expected a Doom clone with some abilities, but it´s basically an early version of Metroid Prime. I love the game and it may be one of my favourites on the system. That said, the last level I played was the Sunkern Temple place. That level was slightly obnoxious. The staff has difficulty homing, so I just used Bombs for the mines and the Machete for the fish. Also, that last key is really obnoxious. I picked it up and before I had chance to get my bearings, I was locked in. I couldn´t find an alternate exit so I drowned. So yeah, had to do the whole bloody level AGAIN. That has been the only bad experience I´ve really had, but knowing that will definitely ensure that future playthroughs go a bit smoother

Used to hate it now I love it. Street fighter zero 3. I used to think 2 was the better game for play wise not character. Except I practice max combos on training and had no idea you can get 30+ hit combos easy. Except fighting the computer who flips out of it makes it a challenge but other wise this is a great game. I mainly use akuma ruy Nash guile 2 or 3 others but mainly akuma aka gouki.

It's been a mech weekend as I just recently completed Gungrifffon. Such a great game. Will have to try and complete Mobile Suit Gundam Side Story 2 at some point as well.

How does the Gradius Deluxe Pack hold up. I see it for low prices on Ebay all the time and would like a new shooter.

Almost at the end of disc 3 of panzer dragoon saga. Just finished the shellcoof sidequest and was completely mind blown on how it connects with panzer dragoon zwei.
Brought back some of my memories back ehrn i was a kid. This game is truly a masterpiece

How does the Gradius Deluxe Pack hold up. I see it for low prices on Ebay all the time and would like a new shooter. I think it's a great package. You have to bear in mind how old these games are, especially Gradius 1, but I forgot how good the original game was until I got this (bought it from someone here in fact). I had never played the second game before getting (1 & 2 are on the disc) and it's a gorgeous game - it must have been eye popping when it first appeared in the arcade. You can change the display size between 4:3 and the original arcade ration which is slightly narrower. And in G2 you can switch slowdown on and off. Both play great. I'd certainly recommend it if you are into shooters.

Good to know. I figured Gradius would feel a bit old but I was curious about #2 being more advanced. Will have to grab it next time I see it.

Yeah. When you first start playing G1 you notice the older graphics and sounds. But then the gameplay kicks in and you forget that. It looks and plays really solid despite the older graphics.
G2 looks great from the off.

Spent some time with Columns Arcade Collection yesterday. This has been on my collection shelf for years. I played it a bit when I first got it but haven't spent much time with it since. Very nice title and I can recommend it if you are into puzzle games. I'm not the biggest Columns fan - I put it behind the other big names, but after spending time with this yesterday I've come to the conclusion that I like it more than I thought I did.
There's a special options menu that allows you to set different gem themes , sound effects etc but these have to be unlocked. Each feature has a target number of gems needed to unlock it - and you earn this simply by playing the games - all 4 versions of the game on the disc feed into this total. Some of the special options I've unlocked so far show screens of JPN text unfortunately - think they are gameplay hints that will forever remain a mystery. I've unlocked the sound effects options and the new gem targets will unlock the ability to select different gem types so that will allow me to fiddle with how the game will look. There's also a History option to unlock but I suspect that will be more JPN text screens!
Still - the 4 games are great. There's Columns, Columns 2, Stack Columns and Columns '97.
The 97 version looks gorgeous but it's rock hard and I find the gems a bit more difficult to differentiate which makes things a bit harder but I reckon practice will resolve that. Columns 2 has a 2 player versus game and a one player Flash Columns mode which challenges you to dispose of the flashing gems before moving onto the next level.
Stack Columns is the pick of the bunch for oddness - it's a versus game with human or CPU. The CPU mode is a tournament/career mode that has you travelling around the world facing off against an odd looking bunch of oppenents. The game itself reminds me of the battle version of Tetris with you forcing your opponents stack up the screen by making combos. This is game forces you to make combos to make attacks so you can't be too lazy with this one.
They are all recreations of arcade games as far as I can see (you see Insert coin messages etc) and all look great. I've never seen a Columns arcade machine - I suspect these were Japanese releases. Even the most basic game - original Columns - looks very nice in that old 16 bit pixelly way - I imagine that it's pretty close in looks to the Megadrive version (haven't played that one).

Booted up Virtua Cop 1 & 2 over the weekend. Had to turn the brightness up on the CRT for it to work, but the gun is still pretty accurate. These games are tougher than I remember if you are going for a 1CC. They still play great. These are 2 of the few PAL games I have left. It looks like the conversion got some attention. They run nearly full screen with smaller than usual borders. Not sure about speed - but they certainly don't feel slow - the training mode on VC1 is brutal as the targets disappear pretty quickly - maybe the timer was adjusted too much!! .

Beat elevator action returns. Also beat in the hunt. Very difficult games I was really getting into in the hunt. One thing tho I swear the programers just decided to throw in tons of enemies in every section to prolong the game.

Got in my recent orders, so I ran through them all briefly. Croc: Controls are a little iffy but passable. I think I'll have fun going through this one, but it's hard to deny I kept thinking how much Nintendo nailed 3D movement + camera control in that era. Sonic 3D Blast: It's not as bad as I was expecting, which is good? There's some neat visual tricks, but it does feel somewhat unfinished; the sections where it freezes while loading are off putting. Bug Too!: It's more Bug, but the music isn't as annoying as the first. D: Had to buff the disc a little to get it to run (both discs look like they were crappily resurfaced, I need to find a place with a good machine again) and watched the opening FMV. Looking forward to dedicating a Saturday to it. Quake: Even having played Powerslave I can't help but be amazed by this. Sure, it has some frame rate dips and distortion. But the sound, the controls, the atmosphere...this is definitely a landmark achievement on the console.
