playing some Street Fighter Zero 3 and Rayman. Rayman is of course a very difficult game (at least I think so) , but its been a favourite of mine since I played it back in 1996 or so on a DOS PC. Right now Im up to Eraser Plains. SFZ3 is probably my favourite 2D fighting game. Right now Im training Sagat in the world tour mode.

Capcom really went through the ceiling with Zero 3, there's no other fighting Saturn game 2D or 3D on its level. It really is a masterpiece of a game. You're the first person I know that uses Sagat.I should give him more of a try out but for that style of Fighting I always default to Ken or Akuma but I know Saga is fierce.

Sagat does share some moves with Ryu and Ken of course , but the strategy is quite different as he is bigger and slower (ie, you can't really jump around much like you can with a character like, say, Chun Li)

I'm currently playing through Biohazard. I'm surprised, but the game actually is really terrifying! The tank controls are really hard to get used to though. I would point out though that unless you've played through the game before in English, you will need some amount of guide. Non-voiced things are in Japanese. So far, this mostly amounts to flavourtext, but for some stuff, you will need a guide. This isn't exactly a bad thing for me though. I very frequently run through games with a guide and would have anyways. I fear failure and death in games Especially ones like Biohazard (though that's part of it I guess!).

Rayman is almost deceptively oppressive in how it handles difficulty. I think they designed the first few levels to be a lot more accessible so that people would stick with the game in spite of the aggressive difficulty curve. Having played through it semi-recently I have some mixed feelings on it. I think the game, as a whole, is pretty spectacular and it is dripping with a level of polish that was fairly uncommon during this era of gaming... however, I am not fond of how they distribute certain abilities to artificially extend the length of game (through backtracking) and I also think some of the difficulty leans towards the notion of being more frustrating than it is challenging. Decided to play through the entirety of Super Tempo; a really esoteric and charming game with an incredible sense of style. I have been trying to wade through the complications of the scoring system of the game (which involves accumulating a bunch of trinkets and furniture for your household at the end of each level). and it's been a little confusing -- I actually intend to record a runthrough of the game which demonstrates a bunch of the secrets and obscure mechanics.

I didn't think the PAL/US version of Resident Evil was that expensive. How comes you went for the JPN version? playing some Street Fighter Zero 3 and Rayman. I totally agree about Rayman. Great game but then somewhere after the 5th level it gets insanely hard and quite frustrating. Super Tempo I absolutely love. Definitley my fave 2D platformer on the Saturn. I could never figure out what I was suppose to do in the games rooms on the Arcade Machines on the Ghost Level though. Seemed a bit confusing. Might have to give it another try.

I also use the auto fire for Darius Gaiden but I do it manually on my auto fire pad as its alot quicker than the games auto fire option. Still can't complete though. You sure it's faster? The in-game rapid fire is pretty damn fast! If I use the code I can convince myself I'm not cheating

That is why I think it might be valuable to make a video detailing a lot of the more obtuse areas of the game. It's one of those games that I stumble upon a new secret in each successive run -- the game is packed to the brim with tonnes of interesting little details that would only ever be found in a game built with passion. I have always been a big proponent for the idea of Quality > Quantity and this game is a pretty stunning demonstration of this particular philosophy. It may only be 2 hours long but most people will likely be disarmed by it's charms to the point where they will play through it multiple times. I have nothing but excessive praise for the game and I wish it wasn't so costly as then a larger group of people could be exposed to it.

When it comes to Darius Gaiden and Radiant Silvergun I have no qualms about cheating. Both games to me are insanely impossible to complete on full credits without the assistance of p2 credits. RS especially. I know a few have managed to complete Darius Gaiden and I ALMOST managed to complete it myself last year without cheating but I had to spend player 2 credits to get there otherwise I never would gotten to the final boss whos insanely hard. I usually take the top path.

I knew it was dirt cheap from Japan, and pretty much all US Saturn stuff costs ridiculous amounts of money nowadays. Especially if you want it complete. Turns out, yep, it is on Ebay right now for $90 complete. Absolute nonsense. And I will bet, that Resident Evil had a pretty large print run. Plus it's uncensored? And I prefer JP cases any day.

I find myself just spamming bombs and credits when I do that though as I kind of stop trying so hard. RSG is tough but I can see how I might be able to 1CC with practice - not so sure with Darius Gaiden.

Played through Saturn Bomberman, this game seems to serve as one of the last worthwhile Bomberman games as a great deal of the games that followed it were fairly inconsistent and a lot of them completely abandoned the classic Bomberman formula. I've always found myself enamored by all the little stage details and it seems to suggest that a lot of passion was poured into this game. It's some what saddening to see the stellar single player being ignored in favour of the multiplayer (mostly due to the novelty of 10 player Bomberman). It probably goes without saying but this game comes highly recommended and is worth the price of admission (assuming you are fine with the minor language barriers found in the JP version).

The Main mode in Saturn Bomberman is gorgeous. I too have noticed those lovely little touches in the levels. Setting off cannons on the ship for example. Among the pinnacle of 2D sprite work design for me.
I was lucky enough to pick up the PAL version a fair few years ago before pricing went mad. Unoptimised so plays fine at 60Hz on my JP console.

finally finished Shining Force 3 Scenario 2 , going on to Scenario 3. Overall I probably liked it more than Scn1 as the story is getting very interesting and the game is also visually more varied.

Is the game living up to it's high acclaim? I've always been cautiously interested in the idea of sitting down and playing through the entire trilogy but it's a pretty large commitment and I don't think I'd want to invest a significant amount of time unless the ends justified the means. With some of the more expensive RPG's I often wonder if they get inflated praise due to people paying extravagant prices and feeling the need to justify their purchase -- this is probably the main reason I am skeptical.
