I bought my first Saturn as a Christmas present from my wife along with a few games including Sega Rally, Dark Saviour and Casper. Once I got my kids all settled with their presents I went to get the Saturn set up and was especially eager to play Sega Rally. Got the Saturn set up, went to get the game, disaster! Someone must have trod on it in the excitement, big crack on the disc. As a big fan of RPG's, I played Dark Saviour first and loved it although it was finsihed all to quickly for my liking then I played Casper which I thoroughly enjoyed as well. Eventually picked up another copy of Sega Rally, and even though I generally cant stand racing games, I love playing this game. I'm getting work done on my house just now and all my Saturn stuff is packed away, so I'm ffeeling a bit sick at not being able to crack it open and get a few games going again!

sega rally ;D- i could'nt believe how close it was to the arcade version! its only got 4 tracks-but there all near perfect, only got 3 cars but when your favourite car ever is the lancia delta HF integrale you'l only play as that! i still rate it as one of the best racing games ever and its still more fun than gran turismo!

i still rate it as one of the best racing games ever and its still more fun than gran turismo! Never, but never, sega rally can be better than gran turismo. Gran Turismo is a biiig game with lots of options, better grafics and lots of vehicles. I believe that because of when you were young sega rally marked you, but people need to admit that gran turismo is way better.

Since when did the size of a game and better graphics make it a better game outright?
How often have you been back and played GT1? then how often to peeps go back and play Sega Rally?
Sega Rally never ever gets boring or old, and it's staying power is down to amazing gameplay and addictiveness not people getting a nostalgia boner.
GT is a simulation where as SR is an arcade game, different animal my friend.

No way!i am a serious hardcore petrol head and love racing games, imho gt is pretty cool and appeals in different ways with all the options, cars, tuning etc but think about it?you dont need them all really and once you get over that it dos'nt add much and turns into abit of a dull slog till your chosen/favourite cars are maxed out(i do like how comprehensive the suspention/steering setting adjustment is ),i have gt 1,2 and 3 played them alot but not more than sega rally, which i have played to death an im still not bored-ive had it over 10years,as mick says comparing them isnt really fair-sorry though for instant straight laced pure gaming kicks wins for me and that is in sega rally ;D

My first Saturn experience was playing my Uncle's back in '97 when I was 8 years old
The first games I played were Virtua Fighter 2, Tomb Raider, NiGHTS, Command & Conquer, Baku Baku, Sega Ages and a couple of others that I can't remember.
Since the first time I played it I thought it was an awesome console. It just had a huge sense of coolness about that It still has now.

I could never really get in to the GT series as I hate full on racing sims. I don't like the need to be really precise or that the games seem too serious. Where as I love arcade racers like Sega Rally, Daytona and the first couple of games in the Burnout series. I think Project Gotham is a great series though as it mixes an arcade style with the detail and licenses you'd find in a sim. Simply put, Sega Rally is 100x more fun than Gran Turismo.

I spent all my savings at the time buying the US Saturn when it was sprung upon the public in May of '95.
I bought two games along with the system and an extra controller: Daytona USA and Panzer Dragoon.
Needless to say, my first experience playing my Saturn was awesome. =)

My Saturn was a christmas present, I was but a little kid at the time. Mine came with WipeOut and Sega Rally. I tried Sega Rally first and liked it, then WipeOut and loved it, amazing graphics, lighting, music, speed..... I guess I love it today as much as the first time. Sega Rally, on the other hand, well it was funny, but never got as deep as WipeOut in my lil´gamer´s hearth

Well my first game that was on Saturn was Sonic R, but I had the PC version first. When I got my Saturn, the first two games I got for it were Virtua Fighter Kids and X-men Children of the Atom. Then I got NBA Jam T.E, NiGHTS, Christmas NiGHTS, and Sonic R in the following months.

It was in '97 when I got mine, I'd held off for a couple of years as I was quite jaded with SEGA because, and I'm bracing myself for a backlash here, I never got on with the Megadrive. It was just when they slashed the price to £150 for the Sega Rally bundle. I bought it from Dixons in the Roker Avenue retail park in Sunderland and they were bundling Actua Soccer with the Rally pack. However, they didn't have any copies left, so threw in FIFA '97 instead, which was a frankly dreadful game. I played it to death though, making my own Sunderland team. It was a good week before Rally made it into the Saturn and I barely touched FIFA after that.
One of my abiding memories was how the staff at Dixons spent ages warning me off buying the Saturn because it came with a Scart lead, and not RF. They were desperately trying to tell me that it wouldn't work with my TV. In the end they threw in a free RF lead for me 'just in case'. I often wonder how many people were put off buying a Saturn at the last hurdle because of this. I did have a friend who picked up a PSX, he had gone in to get a Saturn but the shop had told him he would have to buy a lead that cost £50, so he went Sony instead.
The first game I bought was Fighters Megamix, which I just adored. I remember using a £5 off voucher which came with SSM to buy it from Game, I even got a free Fighters Megamix T-Shirt. From playing this game as well as Rally I realised that my love affair with videogames in general, and Sega in particular, was back on.
