I'm of the school, that, games are games to be played.
Not ornaments to be gawked at. Hence why I happily buy Cartridge only games and stuff,
I sometimes will make a box for them to go in, should I wish to protect them from the harsh environment that is, my house.
I'm not a fan of people who make "What I have" lists either - so maybe that makes me an oddball?
I own a lot... but I'm not materialist.
Strange combination, much?

Oh cool. I'd love to have a fully working Super Nintendo and NES emu. Hehe.

I'd imagine Super FX 2 games would be impossible to emulate on the Saturn, eh? Just one of those chips are clocked at 21MHz alone. That's like... just one of the Saturn's RISC processors right there, correct?

There were also various emulator projects for CPC464 and MSX on the Saturn but neither has ever seen a public release to my knowledge, which is quite a shame when you consider the latter went on to form part of a commercial retro package (albeit with new code).

I've seen Genesis emu, NES emu and GBA emu on PSP (all worked great), SNES emu on PSP (terrible slowdown across the board) and N64 emu on PSP (terrible slowdown and sound didn't work right). Emulation is getting better, but it will still be a long time before we see a workable portable solution for the Saturn software...and by that time, we will all be looking toward Dreamcast emulation on portable hardware.

Would a suitably beefy computer (I like to think mine is) be able to play the some games better than the Saturn? e.g the massive frame rate drops in battles in Guardian heroes when magic is involved. Although I think those fps drops might be what makes those battles seem so epic ^_^

Almost all the frame rate issues in Saturn titles are down to sloppy and/or inadequate programming as opposed to any lack of speed on the Saturn's part, I've certainly not found that SSF helps with this sort of slowdown...

SSF generally aims for 100% emulation so any shit that goes wrong on an actual Saturn will still go wrong on SSF.
Sloppy 3D modeling can be to blame as much as programming.
For example, if an object is always facing away from the camera, there's no point in modeling parts that aren't visible (cars in driving games, etc).

Well, I downloaded and burned the Sega Master System emu for Saturn (SMS Plus Saturn) and I have to say - very disappointed, =(. Whilst I'm sure it's a technical marvel / accomplishment, every ROM I tried with it (admittedly, only about seven or so) had graphical and sound glitches, and whilst playable, the glitches really distract from the experience, meaning I wouldn't seriously sit down and play any Master System games using this on my Saturn =(.
Has any one else had any better luck with it? I was using mostly European ROMs, if that had anything to do with the glitches, =P [via a modded Japanese Saturn].
I found the link to the SNES Emulator also, but the same forum thread it appeared in, claimed it was too slow to really be playable, so I didn't bother with it. I downloaded a Lynx emulator too, but haven't tried it out yet.

Why would you consider emulation on the Saturn anything but a curio anyway, when there are far more suitable platforms out there? I suppose the native 240p output is what you're after?

Well... my Saturn is modded, so I wanted to see what it can do. It's the only modded console I own, and I'm not keen on playing games on PC. I've a Master System too, and was just playing Prince of Persia on it the other day . I was kinda looking forwards to playing some rare ROMs, and doing all my gaming on just the Saturn, but alas, the emu performance wasn't as I'd have liked.
But I'm posting here moreso to see if anyone else had better luck with it? Again, I was trying mostly European ROMs, and don't know if that might have caused some of the glitching...?
Did anyone else try the Emu and what were their thoughts on it?
Alternatively, if you argue there are more suitable platforms out there, what might those be? (But of course, whatever you say, I'm biased to / love my Saturn, ^_^)

Well, emulators on the Xbox tend to be more compatible, though you're limited to 480i/p resolutions. Dreamcast again is much easier to program for and much more powerful.
I struggle to understand why, unless your PC's quite old I guess? The newest HLSL filters for the PC are where the bleeding edge of emulation is.
