I'm surprised no one has brought up Need for Speed. Isn't it waaay better on PS1? Not in my experience. I used to own both versions and the Saturn version played far better. I can't recall there being much difference in the graphics either but I imagine the PS1 version looked a little better.

I'm surprised no one has brought up Need for Speed. Isn't it waaay better on PS1? As a side note, the original release of Myst for Saturn isn't better than the original PC version, is it? No , the original Myst has to be the definitive version. However I think he meant for console. I wasn't aware of that either as there were certain systems better capable of producing the FMV etc like the 3DO version. I read an article recently that compared the various versions and the Saturn version apparently looks better because it has more colour depth than the PS1 version, which I found odd given how the PS1 is better at displaying FMV. But I also read an article that said the Saturn has better colour richness ability (I forget the exact term). This makes sense given how PS1 games tend to overuse brown and drab colours. I can't recall if the PC version of Myst was included in the comparison but it would make sense that it is the best version of the game overall. I'll keep looking for the article.

the color richness is true in my laments view, look also at tomb raider and resident evil that look a lot more colorful on the saturn than on the psx

Never thought about the Saturn being MORE rich in color before. Color pallet on the Saturn was always supposedly more somber (works great for games like Panzer Dragoon). However Shining Force III has always been one of the most colorful games on my TV. Nights as well.

This video makes it look like the cars are moving slower on Saturn or Saturn has more FPS. Which is rather doubtful. It's definitely a much smoother looking game on Saturn. www.youtube.com/watch?v=RvwreqnAFDM

I disagree. While there's nothing wrong with the Saturn framerate in that video, the PS1 seems to have a faster update. Plus it has cool lighting effects I never noticed before.
For me it comes down to playability. While both version are playable, the controls are what's important. Would you rather the clunky PS1 dpad that hurts your fingers or the silky model 2 Saturn dpad that feels comfortable? That's what I thought.

I own need for speed for the 3do. I've both hurt it's the best version and the worst version. I do like the terrible acting arrogant 90s "bad ass" guy in that version

NiGHTS into Dreams for Saturn is the best version.
The HD remakes are better looking, but the gameplay isn't as fluid. Bumpers shoot you in different directions making some link chains impossible, some link are in slightly different places making some link chains impossible, and the analogue control of NiGHTS isn't as good as the original.
The original allows you to get higher scores and it just feels smoother to control.

Just browsed your website for a few minutes. In the Saturn Exclusives page you are missing, just at first glance, Albert Odyssey (this is only on Saturn) and Congo Lost City of Zinj (only in US and only on Saturn) Also I wouldn't even note Powerslave as having a PC version because they are more or less completely different games. (the console and PC versions with the same name)
