Have you got any pics of the games running Barry?

Not to hand but I'll take some pics next time I use the Saturn. Will be interesting to see if it's noticeable in photos.
Bucko or someone else more technical may well comment on or adjust what I wrote above for accuracy but it's what I'm seeing as a layman.

I knew about fixing the aspect ratio already my main concern is how pixilated it looks on my TV. Would a device like that fix that issue? On my CRT there not really noticeable but once on my 4k its horribly pixilated. If you mean you can see the original individual pixels in the sprites then this is down to the size of the screen. You still get pixels with an OSSC, in fact you might find they are more prominent and sharp than before. The colours and the sharpness of the pixels are greatly improved of course. The upscaler doesn't interpolate in the way an HD remaster does, which adds new pixels giving a smoother modern image. Aside from that the best remedy is to sit further away from a large screen! If you actually mean something else like image noise or graininess (random dots and blurriness) then the upscaler will improve it. I will take pictures to show you because explaining exactly what I mean is a bit difficult.

Well top one is my 4k and bottom is crt sorry pictures are in the dark kids where asleep but I'm actually really impressed how donpachi looks on my 4k metal slug was the only other game I played on the 4k TV and that's where it looked pixilated I guess by using fullscreen donpachi auto sizes to that aspect ratio so it looks really smooth unless an upscaler makes it look better than that?

I took the above from my 55 inch OLED TV using the OSSC upscaler. This was in line tripler mode which is now my preferred setting. I don't tend to like adding scan lines, I think that's a personal preference thing. Hopefully they illustrate what I mean by the pixelated look of the old games like Galaxy Force 2 being maintained . It also has really bright and faithful colours, much better than directly to the TV through SCART. It looks even better in motion, as you'd expect.

Yes I see it, that answers my question.

OSSC or a 240p aware upscaler will prevent deinterlacing errors and reduce input lag too. Effects like drop shadows will be incorrectly rendered on a HDTV and sprites or objects often exhibit combing or other weird artefacts when in motion. There's some cool user pics in the thread here:- shmups.system11.org/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=52158&start=2760Here's a closeup of Bloody Roar on PS1 for instance (click to enlarge):-

Bucky, I sure hope you're ready for an onslaught of new order$ next year with Micomsoft pulling the plug on the xrgb mini (and possibly done with the line altogether) You might be the only game in town come later 2017.

Doing my best, I've got 500 more coming early 2017 then if demand stays strong the batches will be at least 500 strong after that too.
Thing is though, OSSC really wasn't designed to replace the FM, it's a different approach with its own advantages and limitations. It'd be a shame for retroheads if there was no XRGB4 or similar full-framebuffer based upscaler to replace the FM.

Even if it wasn't designed as a replacement, I still imagine you'll see crazy demand. Actual eBay auctions (not BINs) are going north of 400 USD. and this is just a lull between the last big batch. Think when the supply dries up for good.

I'd be quite tempted by one if I didn't have the FM. I like the fact it would play nicely when the resolution flips in games like Akumajo X on Saturn and Rival Schools ,but the way it handles sound wouldn't really fit into my setup. :/

Damn scalpers!
An audio output add-on board is available soon (though, I can't recommend enough investing in a good set of external speakers!).

I meant the framemeister, if that wasn't clear.
