Those are the two primary games that I'm thinking of. I've also found that using the1Mb cart fixes the slowdown issues on Marvel Super Heroes that are present when using the AR or 4Mb cart supporting zyrobs theory that the AR only runs in 4Mb mode. Some people claim that the 1Mb cart fixes slowdown in Metal Slug bug I haven't been able to notice a difference. Multi-disc games are a bust for the AR as us booting Panzer Dragoon Saga although a code has been reported to correct this. I just had a realization! Trekkies is Mr. Sega and this new cart slot is the much heralded Sega Orbi! INTERESTING... like I said, I've never had any issues running RB1 or SS3 through the AR4+1 personally so, I guess I wouldn't have a 3rd Saturn set-up just to run MSH Multi-region modded console for PDS

@ngn The 2 Saturn setup you suggest is a bit more "practical." Although you'd be missing out on a few more games than my 3 Saturn setup due to them running improperly with the AR WHICH GAMES DO YOU HAVE... that run improperly with the AR? I only ask as I've used one (when they work) for years and never had a compatibility issue, and I own all the RAM fighters plus Cotton 2. I've had issues running SNK fighters with the 4MB RAM (namely SS3 & RBFF - graphical glitching) but never with the AR4+1

no the first one isn't very good and hasn't aged very well. compare it to tekken 1 vs tekken 2. don't go back to tekken 1 unless for nostalgia COMPARATIVELY THOUGH... Tekken 1 quite literally pisses all over VF1 & Remix. I also still find Tekken 1 enjoyable and much less dated than VF1 & R. VF2 and Tekken 2 are much more comparable

I bought Twinkle Star Sprites yesterday, so I am looking forward to giving that a play when it arrives. Saturn or NeoGeo?...

I'M FIRMLY SPLIT DOWN THE MIDDLE... on this one. Remember: I've had my AR's 'self-flash' and Memory Cards 'wipe' so many times I've lost faith in that aspect of the Saturns hardware.
SO, with this in mind, no; Bradcaps solution vs the price of a Saturn really isn't 'that' impractical. And, as it stands RIGHT NOW, is the best solution. Because as of right now, we don't actually have one.
If you read back to the first page I actually was half-serious in my recommendation as to having multiple Saturns set-up. 2 to be precise:
Both Multi-region with 50/60Hz mod: 1 with the AR4+1 for RAM titles and 1 with Official Memory Card
The memory card is surely big enough to suffice simple memory management without having to remove the card? Some of the 3rd Party carts actually offer more space > the official one too I believe.
As of now, this is the best solution.
HOWEVER... as I've often mentioned before, I would definitely welcome long-standing alternative. Unfortunately I'm just not technically minded enough to engineer or create a solution. Thus, Bradcaps method really isn't that out there for the non-techy gamer like myself...

Well, not a game purchase... but I did buy a small 13" flat screen SD tube TV. I just couldn't handle how BAD Saturn games looked on my plasma HDTV. Its amazing how much of a difference that makes. GOOD MAN... someone seriously needs to enter the market with a range of affordable gaming only CRT's for the future. If I was the entrepreneurial type, hell... I'd do it myself

1 used to be my favourite. Then I played Overkill on the Wii and that won me over. It just bursts with personality and it is so much fun to play. Especially in multi-player with a friend. Is 4=Overkill? Or is it a separate game? I played my JP copy of House of the Dead on my old CRT and man is it fun. I only need Mighty Hits and then I have all the light gun games for the console. Then I have to work out how to capture them all as I typically capture all my games through my computer screen which is very much an LCD monitor. I vaguely recall having to use some kind of double composite adapter when plugging it into my CRT? HOTD 4 IS A DIFFERENT GAME...

Why do you guys think the Last Blade never got a ported over to the Saturn? Given all the other SNK/Capcom fighters, I was recently wondering why this gem was overlooked. It was obviously popular enough to garner a sequel, which got released on the Dreamcast. It originally came out in 1997, so the timing would have been decent. There's a good number of other well regarded fighters that the same question could be asked, but this game remains one of my favorites. IT WOULD HAVE BEEN ALRIGHT... but I think that Last Blade would have had to have potentially suffered animation cuts, even on the Saturn. It's really rather intense in the frame department (second to MOTW really) so I'm unsure it could have been done faithfully. The second problem is that SNK only used a 1MB expansion cart as opposed to Capcom using a 4MB cart, thus, only designed their ports to work with the 1MB, not the 4MB. By contrast, the PS1 release was absolutely horrible

Having said that, HOTD 2 on the Dreamcast is awesome. HOTD 1 IS BETTER. imo. (i.e. Arcade HOTD 1 vs Arcade HOTD 2)

As 'shit' as it is conversion wise, it's still excellent as its the only home version I know of, and it's on the Saturn ;D. HANDS DOWN... the best in the HOTD series and it SHOULD have been featured on the Wii HOTD Returns disc alongside 2 as opposed to 3 imo I would have probably bought 3 separately if I saw it anyway...

grisommm... I like your concept. Although what BauleyCivic's suggesting is a great idea, I still think your concept is more practical. I suppose the best middle ground would be something like a Megalo sit-down converted for Saturn usage??

Bought a game from Dr Greenrinse and it was delivered extremely fast, well packaged and as described. Thanks. LOL... Bison 2k was unlucky I presume? ;D Still, I'm glad one of you here got that game for a good price. I considered buying it myself (I reckon I saw that thread pop-up before a good many here), but **wanker statement incoming** I already got a good priced copy myself a while back, didn't need another copy (although I considered it at that price!) and just hoped that someone else here could get and acquire the game for a fair price and enjoy it, not flip it

I RECENTLY PICKED UP... GT24 for the Saturn. As far as I'm aware, a Japanese exclusive racing title for the console. So, based on what I had 'heard' here and there prior to picking this game up, I was expecting a bit of a travesty. Jerky framerates, uncontrollable cars etc. However, I was actually pleasantly surprised with this game vs my super-low expectations. To date, it's certainly the best of the JP only racers I have played (inc both the King the Spirits games imo) although I remember Tokyo Highway Battle on PS1 being good (Something Something D Shutakou 97 Something on Saturn) so that probably wins out. But overall, whilst I can't use the word 'impressed', I can certainly say I was - as previously stated - pleasantly surprised. It's a genuinely average racer (literally, 5-5.5/10 material) but on the Saturn where, imo, SEGA Rally and the Wipeouts are the only standout racers for the system (only one of which being exclusive and the other two being executed better... elsewhere) followed thereafter by Need for Speed, Manx and probably Hang On, I find such finds warming The graphics are nice and colourful. The track design is straight out of the book of Ridge Racer (i.e. 3x tracks which all expand in the one city/town) - which I'm a fan of anyway, as I love that concept. The car designs are basically bastardisations of supercars at that time (McLaren F1, 911, NSX etc) - albeit, really crudely modelled ones. Handling is VERY matter of fact, in that, your driving a car and it turns left and right. No real physics involved here at all. It's nice and fast. Decent presentation overall, albeit, a forgettable backing soundtrack. The real negatives imo are how the game handles collisions. Hahaha, it's a f*cking masterpiece when it comes to those. Basically, if you hit the back of a car, you slow down. Of course. However, if a car catches up to you (say you've had a bump) and hits your rear, they lose NO speed whatsoever, but you slow down and they repeatedly bump into you until they pass!!! Therefore, if you have a bump, as opposed to Ridge Racer (for example) where you would block the upcoming opponent, you're actually best to move aside and let them fly past, or otherwise, they will grind you to a halt THEN fly past you. It's workable, but just takes some getting used too. Anyway, the game cost me a grand total of a tenner. I probably could have had it much cheaper from Japan or whatnot, but I wanted it 'tomorrow' and I after buying it, I got it next day - no fussing. It's good fun and, with a bit more polish overall, I think this *could* have been a great game. Never played the Model 2 original to compare though (i.e. port quality). I'd recommend trying this on the cheap if you like a good old school racer and have tried much of what is available already. £10 or less is a fair price imo
