So.... anything happening on this then?
I'll be honest up-front.... I dont think I can contribute much. I know about computers and the basics (well, a little more but im rusty) of a couple of languages like Java, Python and C#, so none of that's of much help.
Happy to help in whatever way I can though, just dont think it will be much.

Happy to help in whatever way I can though, just dont think it will be much. I'M VERY MUCH THE SAME... I have very little to 'physically' contribute to this project, much less in terms of ideas etc should it become an RPG (as I don't actually like RPG's, however, I'm willing to be supportive of the majority community preference genre-wise). However, I can offer assistance with logo design and the design of the inserts and manual, as my day-to-day job consists of branding and corporate level design (i.e. fancy looking brochures and adverts/advertising, as opposed to outright arty art - if you get me?). Even if a talented individual wants to draw a logo, I'd be more than happy to realise and expand it for them digitally I can maybe help in that dept after things develop and finally, more officially, get under way. Time is precious and I don't have time to waste on a fantasy, but I can help with the reality. But that's not my dept. After all, my role would be much later on (mid-way point earliest)...

This will most likely be a learning experience for everyone involved I would say. I would figure the safest bet for this if we use the leaked SGL libraries would be to use C. We can probably try C++ but I'm not sure how Object Oriented programming will work. I would hope it would be doable as that's what I'm most comfortable with. Basically the big thing you need to worry about in C/C++ is memory management as it's not taken care of for you like it is in Java and C#.

thanks for the support guys, he's stable enough for me to feel confident to come home for a few days, been down liverpool for 10 days and my other half and son were missing me so much. Im going back down on monday until further notice. Its kind of been nice getting back to some sort of normality ( games, partner, son, tv etc) after an horrific first 4 days down there. The worst experience of my life. My dads still in a coma and on various machines but there is always hope
EDIT - Also, good luck with the game guys

1. If it's 3d I won't be able to help. And others too, I guess. It's easier to find a good 2d artist. Hybrid graphics sounds nice, but it should be 2d charas and 3d bkgds. Because drawn backgrounds + 3d charas just doesn't go to well with each other. Developers of Star Ocean used pre-rendered 3d bkgds, so for doing it this way you'll still need 3d artists. 2. I think that classic turn based system is easier to program, so we should choose this. I'm not a programmer myself, so I can be wrong. 3. Classic JRPG style would allow to add some little secret locations, which are easy to overlook. So it would be more interesting. leorossi, good luck to you and your father. I hope he recovers soon.

Even if we go 3D characters on 2D Backgrounds, that doesn't mean 2D artists can't help at all. There's still plenty of 2D art assets in 3D Games. There would be the HUD, the Menus, the Character Portraits, the character designs, the area concept art, etc. Just because you are a 2D artist doesn't mean you will have nothing to do should we decide to go 3D.
And just to ask it, does anyone here have any experience with 3D Model work? If not, does anyone know someone with that kind of experience? And if not, would anyone have a problem with reaching out to other communities if we really want to do 3D?

I've done 3D modelling. I can do inanimate objects just fine.
I've been drawing a bit lately though. I might mock something up when I get home. Have we picked a theme?
