The graphics in Astal are great, but for me the best part is the player character's abilities. There's such a variety of them, all so much fun to use, and I think that is what makes the game's brevity disappointing more than longevity issues. You feel like you only get to sample the possibilities.

Yes Martinii, I agree totally with the character. The developers really did a good job with the design and the game is a very unique platformer. Astals variety of moves along with the cool addition of his bird as a weapon is very nice. I think the 2 player option was super cool and something I would have certainly liked back in the day if I had given the game a chance. I shouldnt even be commenting on the length yet since I haven't beaten it It is cool going back through the first levels now knowing his abilities. Before I didnt know about the breathe attack until the lava level. There is such a nice polish to the game. The music, sounds and graphics all go so well together. Still can't believe this came out in 1995. Should have been so many games using this art style.

I'll add another one: DRAGON FORCE I just don't get it. It's basically just a complex game of rock, paper scissors. It's something like Archers>Soldiers>Something Else>Archers, it's been a few years since I played it. Then you add in formation moving which changes the dynamic where Soldiers can start beating Archers with the proper formation. Once you figure out the proper formations it becomes a boring grind fest. Until that point it's a pretty fun game.

Dragons beat everything except for Samurai, which can be countered by Cavalry or Harpy.
