If it was just your reputation on the line here that would be one thing. If it was just your reptutation I wouldn't care. But it's not. You have possibly tarnished this entire forum's reputation with your attitude. You can already see it in the thread over at AssemblerGames. Utter nonsense. Drop it please, nobody wants to hear it. It's not utter nonsense, I've seen similar things happen. One loud obnoxious person can make an entire group of people look bad. Especially in the situation that we had in this thread. Think about it for a minute, we have omp who is a somewhat well known member on other retro community sites. He comes in here and offers to buy the manuals and scan them for us. Zyrobs then goes off the deep end and insults him and throws a temper tantrum to the point where omp finally says "Fine, do it yourself" and sends the documents out in the mail. omp then on a few other sites says "I uploaded the Saturn manuals, but these are being RE-DONE due to some issue's some guys have over at SegaSaturnUk. Once i post it in the morning i no longer care. I think my mistake was volunteering for a forum i didn't know" How do you think that looks to people who don't know our site? And you can see from people's reactions over at AG that some people did take it to mean our site had a problem. Will it have a long term effect? Probably not. But it's still the fact that behavior like that on the wrong people can have disastrous consequences and shouldn't be tolerated.

Like I said, feel free to blame the entire thing on me, even if I'm not the one completely responsible. I don't care about that kind of stuff. p.s. that manual you scanned is still god awful.

WAY TOO DRAMATIC... I'm afraid. "Disastrous consequences" indeed. Jesus. As a member of a good few forums in my time, I'll stick my neck out and say, on the whole, you'd struggle to find a nicer forum environment to be in. I'm NOT saying it doesn't exist, but it's a bloody nice place to be around. Now, that said... I think most of these individual who have a brief interaction here, and perhaps unfavourable dealings with a specific individual ARe intelligent enough to realise it's just that, and not a reflection on the whole site. If an individual DOES claim the whole site deplorable on a disagreement they had with one or two members, regarding a specific subject, then... I'd highly doubt anyone with a shred of intelligence this invested in the scene would jump to such ludicrous conclusions. That includes you...

It's getting dangerously close to thread locking time.
Going round in circles just trading insults is not what SS:UK is about.
Let's just move on.

Nah, we like to think we're a reasonable bunch. How a forum is judged can indeed be tarnished by a few, but it's more likely that it's judged more as an organization and how things are resolved. Nice to see a mod stepping in, but perhaps not needed any more. I think we've all said our piece and had a virtual handshake. In Kev's eyes, this would be the civilized way of settling matters (and yes, he was involved before me), and moderator intervention would be seen as a forum run well. No worries there! If, on the other hand, the moderators and site owners didn't care, the forum was a free-for-all, members kept mentioning his site in a derogatory manner and members of that forum came over to our forum in order to cause trouble and slag members off, that would not be tolerated and would give said forum a bad name. Mentioning no names, it's happened. As I said before, the forum is partly for sharing information and partly for whipping out your preciouses and showing them off. We all do so in a civil manner, congratulating each other on rare finds. As long as you not going to act like a jealous schoolboy, we'll all get on fine! It's getting dangerously close to thread locking time. Going round in circles just trading insults is not what SS:UK is about. Let's just move on. That's your abbreviation? How unfortunate!

s'all cool now, I had a beer or two and pretended retro bought it for me.
I think I missed or didn't reply to half of one of retros posts on the last page (the NDA thing), I want to say something about that but forgot what right now. Better close the topic now before we start flaming eachother over that thoguh!

That's your abbreviation? How unfortunate! Ha Ha!! I've had the very same thought in the past. ;D Anyway, personally I really DON'T do the jealousy thing myself. No one on the planet has anything I can't live without believe me. I'm always happy to share my latest acquisitions and see what other people have been collecting - I just like the fact that other people have the same interests and passions as myself. As for perceptions of this forum, well things go awry on every forum now and then - it's a given - It's just a shame if it degenerates into juvenile name calling. But then, at least the apologies have been forthcoming from all parties concerned, something you don't always see happen on some other forums (and NO I'm not slagging off anyone else's forums here btw). As you also mentioned retro, problems often arise from the 'toneless' nature of text. It's very easy for someone to get the wrong end of the stick, or indeed read comments that were made in jest seriously. I have lost count of how many of my mates have got into arguments over simple text messages on their mobiles - often with the end result becoming a tirade of insults - well, I know we've all seen it going on in the past. On, the subject of omp/Pete, all of my experiences dealing with him have been exemplary - all of his PM's to me were very friendly and thoughtful. Never-the-less (and despite some of my earlier posts), some of the comments here did unfortunately appear insulting (whether intended or not) which is a shame. To repeat what I stated earlier today, I'm more than happy with the scans ESPECIALLY considering the nature of the original documents. If I HAD taken over the bidding on the Saturn manual (as was proposed at one point) then I'm sure I would have been subjected to the same posts, but unfortunately I really wasn't in a position to do so and Pete ended up getting all of the flak, despite all of his best efforts. Oh well, all done now - for better or for worse. Anyway - thanks to all contributors to the funds and for Pete for rising above it all and doing a fantastic job for all concerned.
