What do you find to be the most overrated game?
*Tin hat on*
For me it's Nights, I've never gotten into this game at all, while it is indeed a very pretty game to look at, and it is fairly decent, I just think it's a bit over hyped (but each to their own lads), personally just does not grab me like other games do, not varied enough for me.

What are you Smoking? NiGHTS deserves a 10/10! This game always ruffles feathers on every forum ;D It seems to be a real Marmite affair. You either get it or you don't. Personally, I think it looks utterly amazing and is totally original BUT because I'm not very good at it, my attention wavers and I end up getting bored and switching to another game

For me its Radiant Silvergun. I love shooters, and own well over 200 different titles. However I do not understand the appeal of this game. Sure it looks nice, but the gameplay is rather boring. I really had to force myself to finish this one, cause it just wasn't any fun.

For me its Radiant Silvergun. I hear that, I was like a kid at xmas the first time I played R.S, never been so excited about the prospect of playing a game, what an utter dissapointment Im constantly baffled by the eBay prices for it, but then I think people buy it, realise it's not all its cracked up to be and sell it on a few weeks later. In a similar vein you seem to see the same copies of Panzer Dragoon Saga circulating on eBay, again another game people buy because of the hype and then just cant get into so sell it on.

I agree with mick_aka on the R.S. thing, i must admit i never played it, but a lot of people sells their copy for some reason i think,, and boredom is a really accurate therm i think..
But about Panzer Dragoon Saga...men.... you know a lot of people is waiting for Saturn to be fully emulated to simply play that game, and is a really wanted title for a re-release (that i hope never happens)...
It's true people sells the same game, well, sometimes it can be because people finishes it soon and sells it!

RS is a top game...... it is not easy to play ( chaining etc) but that doesn't make it a poor game. As for hype? where was it hyped, in the sun, on telly, footy shirts? No!!!! People who like good videogames rate it very highly, as do I............nuff said. It is an intelligent and tactical game and genuinely tries something new within the genre. Seems to me like lots of people haven't even played it or don't like shooters.......Your loss!

The chaining was an interesting idea. The problem though is that the levels get shorter and shorter as the game progresses. Eventually its just boss, 1 wave of enemies, boss, and repeat. At the end, chaining is almost nonexistant. Plus proper chaining requires memorizing the game. I greatly prefer games that discourage straight memorization and reward innovation.
Zanac, Zanac Neo, Cotton 2/Boomerang, Blazing Star, and most Cave shooters have mastered this concept.

Also not a huge Nights fan. It was alright, but I don't consider it a classic like many do.
And not to rip on Sonic Team, but I also thought Burning Rangers was a real dud. I hated the controls -- it was a prime example of what I hated about 3D gaming -- constantly getting lost in the camera angles, and not to mention the frustration of not being able to jump on the proper platforms which would be a piece of cake in 2D games.

Nice to have lots of styles of shooters superdeadite...... my taste lies on the manic bullet-fest style (cave) games but it is good to have a change of pace after saving the galaxy with your hair on fire - again. I am liking RS and Ikaruga for this change of pace. Maybe the levels get shorter on rs 'cause the console is busy producing the best effects and graphics on the saturn? Actually most reviews of RS bang on about how beautiful it is rather than it's gameplay, there is better gameplay to be had on the system admitedley. As a monument to programming and all round brilliance I think it deserves it's reputation...... you can't please everyone though, especially when you try something different.

This might be unpopular with some but I truly believe Virtual On cyber Troopers is one of the most overrated pieces of crap I have ever played! The Camera angle sucks and the controls make me want to stick my head through the TV.
Whenever I hear/read about people discussing great Saturn games somebody always has the nerve to mention Virtual On... WHY! I don't know, maybe you need the twin stick controller to really enjoy it. All I can say is I think it sucks!

I thought the only good thing about Virtul On was the music, saying that some of the tracks were awful anyway.

Virtual On NEEDS the twinstick controller, playing on a normal pad just doesn't work. Also you really need 2 of them, its truly a 2-player game at heart. Playing against the CPU just isn't the same.

About $60 USD for a boxed stick, and shipping won't be cheap. You can also use them with VO: Oratario Tangram on DC with a controller adapter.
