Hey guys. I have a new, boxed white Sega Saturn that I bought a couple years ago actually but for some reason put away and never played. Unfortunately, in that time, I've also forgotten what the deal is and how I power it here in the USA.
The power cable included is labeled 2.5A 250V~. The cable included with my US-spec Saturn is the standard 125V 7A. Could someone point me in the right direction for an adapter of some sort? I believe this Saturn comes from the Thai market.

Truth be told, you're best off selling it or exchanging it for a JP model imo. Failing that, swap out the internal PSU board with that of a JP or US unit... a US one, preferably.
Failing that, I'm not sure how you 'step up' power output to power that console (from 110 - 120VAC to 230 - 240VAC).
Someone else might know...

Thanks folks. Not sure what I was thinking, but I'm fairly sure I wasn't prepared to be doing some sort of transplant or anything. Any idea what I should ask for a new, opened-once Thai-spec Saturn? I guess I'll start shopping prices on the JP model. Definitely would want a minty one though; so many of them are yellowed. When I opened this beautiful one up this morning I nearly fainted. Haha!

I would be tempted to swap the whole case over putting the machine you want inside the mint case, model permitting of course, even if it's just the lid you swap.

If you are going to go swapping cases, might as well just source and swap the power supply. It's easier to swap a power supply than transplant the entire internal assembly.

Keep in mind that asia/HK saturns are stock JP saturns with a different power supply.

Oh, thanks for the heads up guys. Okay, do you guys have any suggestions on where to locate the 100-120v power supply I need? I checked "gamedoctorhk", which I saw mentioned in another forum post, but they appear to be sold out. eBay also doesn't seem to return any results.
That's sure be a hell of a lot better than having to sell this one + find a mint JP model.

I'm not sure on where to buy it but posting the serial # and a pic of your Saturn with the top off should help some of the people here identify the board you have/need.

I've powered my Asian/PAL/Korean Saturns through my US outlet and they seem to work fine. If it were the other way around though (US/JP console into European outlet) it would probably blow up. You would just need an adapter that converts the round pins on the Asian power cable like one of these. Or just use a figure-8 power cable that has the flat pins, like the ones that come with JP Saturns. Though if you're interested in replacing it I have various spare US/JP power supplies. certain parts of asia use a 240v system, his saturn is from one of those parts hence this thread Prab |

The easiest way to accomplish this is to get a 120/240 step up/down transformer. In the US, they're about $20 shipped for one that will work with your unit. Here's what I would get. These are very common in Southern Brazil for example, where 120v & 240v coexist in many regions. |

Ok guys, here's a couple of pictures to show exactly what I've got.   Basically, I want to go the best route possible. Changing out the power supply sounds easy enough as long as I can find which one I need and then locate one to buy. |

I think you and I may have bought from the exact same guy a few years ago. Purchased mine on eBay from Thailand. Plate on the back is identical except for a lower serial number (7760). I never bothered to plug it in since it was mint and I own a V-Saturn which I use for everyday gaming. |

I never bothered to plug it in since it was mint and I own a V-Saturn which I use for everyday gaming. That sounds right man. I bought it 2-3 years ago on ebay from Thailand. It was a good deal, if I remember correctly. I may actually box this one up again and find a white Japanese model 2 to play with every day, even if it's not pristine. Depends a little on what people suggest I do with this one. Mine also has this funny sticker on the bottom:  |
