Interesting. I'm gonna have to check the box. My first Saturn which I purchased from Dixons, I remember the SCART lead was kinda funky with missing pins. When I finally switched my console all I got was a Black & White picture. when I took my cables into Computer Exchange in Rathbourne Place they told me the official cables were not RGB and I ended up buying another cable from them and everything worked. The only difference I noticed was the official ones seemed to have less pins like this. The second one I got the pin holes were completely filled out. My original SCART below That's the same one I got with my launch UK Saturn. I didn't have a TV with SCART inputs at the time and had to buy a composite cable. I always thought that it wasn't an RGB SCART due to the missing pins, but it's good to find out that it is, as I've still got mine in the loft.

What is the significance of clean sync for the JP SCART cables? I can see both for sale and will be using them on CRTs for as long as possible and then through a video processor to HD TVs ultimately. Should I go for the clean sync cable that thefoo.83 or the standard cable that also works with PAL consoles?

TVs with SCART input work fine without it. PAL devices cannot do clean sync without modding the console or a sync splitter built into the cable.

So there'd be no disadvantage to getting the clean sync then... i.e. I could use the cable now even though I wouldn't notice the difference and I'd have the start of something if I ever got the XRGB in the future?

I think this thread has answered a lot of questions I had about importing a console.
I have a PAL Saturn, which was donated to me, and now I want to join the world of fullscreen 60hz goodness. I think I'm going to pick up one of those beautiful white JP Saturns.
I've not had a lot of luck with step down converters before (for my PC Engine) so I'm wary of using one again, hopefully the ones linked in this thread will work for me!
There seems to be some conflicting opinions about the quality of RGB cables from Consolegoods. Should I go for one of his or should I get one from the Polish eBay seller?

The Consolegoods cable is unshielded and crap quality. The Polish one has much better shielding, it is as good as the model 1 original scart cable.

I'll take your word for it! I've ordered one from that seller on eBay

Just noticed this, wanted to add a small number of TVs don't work with clean sync. Normally I'd recommend it as it's exactly the same as composite video for sync or better, never worse, but I have encountered TVs that don't work with it at all.
