Thanks a lot for the replies guys. Yes it is a pity that doom turned out so bad on the Saturn. Would love to Play it there looking for a decent Version of Doom on the consoles for quite some time now. Well in that case I have to stick to the PC Version or get Doom 64. Well to be fair, I think Doom 64 is worth trying out anyway, because it is different from the PC Doom. Quake on the other hand I will try out. It seems to really nice. Just read some articles about it in the UK Sega Saturn Mag and it seems to be really good. So i will order my copy soon. And thanks for the tipp concering Congo xDerekRx I will check it out. Doom 64 is completely unique game and honestly one of my favorite games of all time. Doom Special Playstation Edition is a great console port of Doom.

I have not played it yet, but I am intersted to play it in the near future. I am quite interested in the early FPS games and want to play as many of them as possible on the Saturn. I have already ordered Power Slave /Exhumed and Alien Triology. Duke Nukem 3d is also on my to buy list and Hexen of course as well. I think Quake and Doom are on the Saturn as well, but I think the Saturn Versions of these games are not that good. But I might be wrong with that. I was a huge early FPS fan back when I only had a Saturn. Thankfully for Lobotomy we got a handful to satisfy me. Alien Trilogy for Saturn was also a great version, and in some ways better. Doom has its well documented development issues which is sad because its one of my all time favorite games. Its almost unplayable. Quake is fantastic though. Id recommend an NTSC version though as it runs better and isn't missing any of the graphical touches. This was the last Saturn game I got back in Xmas of 97 and I still run through it once a year or so. The only other traditional Doom style FPS on the system you didn't mention would be Congo. This game is a guilty pleasure for me. I just love the whole Jungle setting and atmosphere. Its a frustrating game in a lot of ways with controls and cheap enemies. Its also very hard but there always something about it that I like.

I was mildly obsessed with Hexen as a kid but it was because of obsession with early FPS games (Doom, Duke Nukem, Quake) And back then there were only so many in the genre at all.
I would rent this endlessly on N64 in 1998 but the truth was I could never fully embrace it. Always got stuck on levels.
I always wanted the Saturn version when I only had my Saturn. In fact this version is better than the PS1 one. Its sad because the Hexen port runs so much better than the Doom port...
Anyway neat facts about Saturn Hexen is that there is a debug menu where you can unlock Link Cable play (co-op and DM). I tried it probably 10 years ago with 2 tvs, 2 saturns and 2 hexens and it actually works. It crashed once or twice but its pretty cool

Love the Croc soundtrack as well To me Sonic 3D Blast has one of the best game soundtracks across any system and I feel gets forgotten alongside the game itself (which I also quite enjoy) Agree with derek 100% here! Really enjoy the soundtrack to 3D Blast. Also enjoy the game quite alot though I haven't finished it (game crashed right at the end ) I believe I recall a freezing issue near the end as well. The only thing that 3D Blast lacks imo was a save feature of some sort. I can blow through it in one sitting, as you have to do, but that would have been nice.

Croc: Legend of the Gobbos surely deserves a mention. Never could get into the game itself, but the disc saw heavy rotation in my CD player for quite a while! Just a bevvy of deeply evocative and imaginative tunes. Beyond stoked for this project. If I get time to do some beta testing I will. Either way I can't wait to finally play though the Saturn version of Grandia.

At the time I remember seeing the demo video of this on the demo disc our Saturn came with and not being impressed.
However I finally got Ghen War maybe 2-3 years ago and I quite enjoyed it with less expectations.
I do recall getting to a certain level that was quite hard but have been meaning to revisit it.
If anyone ever plays Congo, it feels incredibly similar as Away Team used the same engine. Id say I probably prefer Congo because of the Jungle setting and vibe, but since it uses the Ghen War engine, which was built for your character to control like a vehicle, it can feel a bit floaty. Congo also has the exact same mapping system as Ghen War to show where you have gone.

Tatsumaru Did they release these in South America? Or is that what the ones with the green ratings are?

Finally picked up a CIB copy of Rampage World Tour for Saturn. This was always a late release title that I could never come across.

Moved on from Road Rash. Now playing through In the Hunt.
The Saturn version is obviously a letdown performance wise. A poor programming job compared to the PS1 port. But Im going to try to give it a go for as long as I can tolerate.

5) Sonic R. I play it a lot! This would probably be close on my list too. I like to play through every year or so.

Had a ROAD RASH bug recently so have been playing that.
I enjoy the Saturn version quite a bit. Its sharper than the PS1 and a bit faster. 3D0 probably the best of the console versions but not by much.
I actually grew up with the PC version which is by far the sharpest but Saturn one might actually have a better feel.
Either way trying to make my way through the career mode.
