This is incredibly neat idea! Never seen anyone do the crossover of PAL to US
I do agree with you that overall the US big cases look the best when on a bookshelf. They are solid and look impressive and shiny when placed in a row. The PAL cases because of their flimsy/weak nature never look great IMO on a shelf. So this is neat.
Personally I think the white of the US style stands out the best. It shows off the spine logos colorful nature a lot better. To me a US Saturn collection is the best looking game collection ever on a shelf when spines are out. Just super impressive. Again the caveat is finding them in good condition and or using the many replacement options that have been created recently.
There's just something about the plastic case that illuminates the cover art so beautifully that the original PAL cases lack. However in your 3rd photo is really shows off that extra luster I get when looking at my North American collection. Very neat.

This video actually mostly points out how impressive the game plays at all and praises it.
I probably run through Quake Saturn once a year from start to finish. I usually try to do a 100% kills run. It still plays incredibly well and its not just an amazing port its a miracle port. It was the last Saturn game I go back in 1997 for Xmas and took for granted how well it played. Despite being mostly polygonal. Saturn has no right being able to run it as well as it did. When you do a playthrough, there are some are tougher areas for sure but nothing that hampers gameplay at all. The lighting is so incredible it ends up being much better than the N64 port.

Recently discovered there is a Panzer Dragoon remake, which got me hoping for the same for Saga. Fingers crossed. I still have never come across an RPG combat system I like more. Still my lasting impression of the game will always be that combat system. Like you its still probably never been matched. I also got the Panzer Dragoon Remake but have yet to play it. Limited Run Games did a Saturn case edition which was quite a cool idea. I of course picked that up and its amazing how perfect LRG matched the original US style cases. limitedrungames.com/products/switch-limited-run-67-panzer-dragoon-classic-edition

Ya I feel that is a story one will never get fully over. Crazy how things like that happen eh. I always find I can never find a game for a good price, so eventually I cave and overpay. Then the next day ebay has like 15 for sale at the price I wanted before overpaying. Happens wayyyy too often haha. 90% of my Saturn stuff I got way head of the curve. Only big regret was balking at Daytona Netlink in the 300-500 range soo many times back in the mid-2000s, then having to pay triple a few years back. Luckily its doubled again since as I wasn't sure if Id gone a bit mad at the time (I made a post somewhere on here documenting the purchase) Panzer Dragoon Saga I paid $160 US for back around 2007. It was the only Saturn game I ever bought on Amazon. I don't trust buying on there due to lack of pictures and transparency about condition. However I recall someone on this board or the old netlink boards tipping me off to it (at the time it was going for around $200) and I decided to take a chance. Luckily it arrived mint as it gets.

Ah I remember the first and last time I played PDS was 2008.
I remember the underground tunnels being the moment I started to fall in love with the game.
Sorry if this is a soft spoiler but isn't this the first time we meet "her". I remember I was struggling a bit to really get into the game through the first disc. But the moment that happened I fell in love with the game.
I LOVE the battle system. Its probably my favorite part of the game.
I dont know if Ive ever mentioned it but there was a point late in the game I decided to use a walkthrough just to help me through a part (game really doesnt need it). I ended up reading a spoiler for something that happens in the game and I could never get over it. Even to this day. I really need to let it go and play it again. Its such a great game.

Nice pickups. We usually look at the Saturn as the Sonic-less system but I honestly love all 3 games. 3D Blast is good fun once you figure it out and it has imo one of the best game soundtracks ever. Sonic R is to me a racer and a polygon Sonic adventure game in 1.

Right on.
I love your Top 5 sports games list, its pretty spot on. Id probably throw Steep Slope Sliders on there myself if it counts. or Winter Heat.
The 2 final soccer titles are quite good but again World Series Baseball 98 truly felt like a next gen sports title. Something that competed against PS1/N64.
I think there was someone on here years ago that actually argued WSB98 was bad. I almost died lol. The earlier WSB baseball titles on the Saturn are quite fun too. More arcady but they are probably easier to pick up in play for the casual fan.
World Series 98 is just a polished great looking 3D baseball game with a more sim like feel.
Im a hockey guy myself and we never really got a knockout title but All Star Hockey plays well enough over all.

Thanks for the info About C&C. I will get it then. I am quite familiar with the first 3 C&C games on the PC. I was a big fan of the Franchise. Never haver played the consoles C&C though, that's why I wanted to add the first C&C to my Saturn Collection. ps: My copy of Burning rangers arrived in the meantime and I really like the game so far. Ive played a fair bit of CC on Saturn and its very playable. Warcraft is as well. Tell us how you are enjoying BR. Its a game Ive always been obsessed with since it came out. Didnt get to play it until many years after its released but I still like so many little things about it.

He also did the same thing with Quake and Duke Nukem, 'til he 100%-ed them. I wonder if got frustrated by the fact you can't actually 100% them like I did lol

Really interesting read this thread I had always thought you could 100% Quake. Duken Nukem is the same with the secrets in the PAL version you can't get 100%. I know a few missions where the secret doesn't trigger that you have it. I was going to do a Duke 100% run but it doesnt have the nice feature that Quake Saturn has where you can pause and double check the kill/secret count. It just makes it so much easier to do. The one thing I learned about Duke over time is that some of the secrets are even missing. My guess is they rushed through Duke to try and finish Quake to get it out for the deadline. Quake is overall more polished completeness wise. Im definitely not knocking Duke 3D. They did an amazing job. It just is what it is. For example there are a couple secrets where they forgot to add the powerups. Or the one in the sunken city. Its one of the biggest secrets in the wall that is full of enemies etc. In the Saturn version its just empty. Again if Im forgiving any developer for leaving things a bit unfinished, its Lobotomy.

After my extensive play throughs of Quake I decided to give Hexen yet another try. Im determined to actually beat this game one day and it'll be the Saturn version. martiniii not sure if you ever gave it another go since? To me the only way to play this game is with the Memory Cart. You can do instant saves any time you like. Yeah its dumb you have to use 3000 blocks but I again wouldn't play it any other way to be honest. At first it wasn't recognizing my cart so I moved all my important save files to my system memory, then to AR cart to back them up. Then formatted my cart (cleared it) and now its fine. Put in about an hour and as a Cleric. Have yet to get to the really confusing levels that I think normally keep from finishing.

Weird how the final boss doesn't count... Are any levels missing on easy Derek? Would like to actually run through Quake all the way 1 day but I always get wrecked at old school FPS (even though its the bulk of my game play since OG xbox). Also don't have the time to really practice to get good haha. Nope 100% of the levels, secrets levels, secrets etc are all in the Easy mode. Only thing missing are a ton of enemies. Its perfect for a casual play through. Especially in the 4th episode they took out all the brutal enemies just about. You likely have the NA version I assume, so I recommend pausing the game and using the Rain cheat, its kinda fun, adds to the levels Highlight “Stereo” in the pause menu then enter RZLXYLRYLR

Alright just ran through the game on Easy There are only 790 total enemies on Easy mode as opposed to 1447 on Normal/Hard modes My goal was to simply see if Easy mode had no missing enemies like Normal... and the answer is... sorta. Unfortunately the very last enemy, the final boss once killed does not count as a kill!! I actually read that in a FAQ just after. Oh well. So on Normal/Hard 3 kills are missing and on Easy the final boss doesnt count. Here is the final stat screen. Notice the rain effect as well. I kept it on the entire game. Very neat Random fun fact. The N64 version has 20 less secrets than the Saturn version. Very odd. Secrets are part of the fun in old school FPS Now im off to start doing thorough plays of Duke Nukem.
