I beat Doom this morning. Great stuff.
Next I'll tackle Shining Wisdom or Tama: Adventurous Ball in Giddy Labyrinth

Yeah, Tryrush has a pretty aesthetic but the game looks like shit.

The demo was fantastic. I just wish it was either cheaper or on the Switch.
I don't care much for playing games on my laptop so I know I'd beat it and never touch it again. At least if it was on the Switch, I know I'd replay it.
Hopefully in the future. We're getting REmake 1 and 0, along with (presumably) a port of 4, so at least I'll have 5 resi games on my switch by the end of the year.

Chancer, I have the Capcom Generations disc with them on and they're pretty great. Rock solid as ever, but playing with the Saturn pad definitely helps.
They're pretty solid ports, and I doubt that the disc is more expensive than buying the individual releases so I'd say grab it!

Been playing Segata Sanshiro Shinkenyugi and Crimewave. Shinkenyugi is a mixed bag of stuff, but it does have some neat stuff. Very much a Saturn fanboy game rather than something actually good.
Crimewave is decent. A fun arcadey experience, although you have to get your eyes around how it moves. The camera can make you a little nauseous until you adjust to it. The game feels like a reverse GTA though, with you being the cops taking out the baddies.

It's a fair point, but both seem pretty decent to me so I probably will get at some point.
That being said though, I think I will back out in favour of picking up a handful of other titles that I'm keen on playing instead.

I hate shmups so RS and Cotton are of no interest to me! I also have PDS and Dracula X!

This year I am going to splash out on one of the two big ones on my wishlist, since I know there isn't that many other games that I'm eager to get.
I'm torn between these two though. Can someone recommend one or the other?
As guidance, I'm a big fan of games that have cool / interesting bosses. I've also heard that Taromaru can be tough, but presumably that would be alleviated by lowering the difficulty?

The game doesn't want you to like it. It starts off moments in with a turret sequence that is probably the second hardest part of the game, after the final fight. It's also has some tricky puzzles and loads of instant death moments from making wrong decisions or from not reacting fast enough.
That said, checkpoints are extremely frequent so you can learn from mistakes easily enough, so you only have to worry about the two parts I mention above.
Movement can also be a bit of a chore, but you kinda get used to it. It's basically D-like movement but with tank controls.
I beat the game this morning and I kinda enjoyed it. The story is pretty good for a 1994 game and the end is a neat twist. I also like the action sequences in the middle, and some of the later ones too. The adventure part is also pretty neat in parts, especially with some of the instant deaths.
It's not a classic, by any means, but it surprised me and I'm glad I own it. It's also pretty cheap too, so I'd even go as far as to recommend it.

I'm currently playing Cyberia. I'm really digging it. I mean, it's dated as hell and bastard hard, but it also has a lot of charm to it too.

So, what do they do? I've unlocked all of them but not sure what they all do. Some are obvious but the others aren't.
Any ideas?

About Baroque...how friendly is for people non familiar with japanese language like me? I don't speak the language and I love the game. In fact, I think not knowing the language helps make the game more entertaining because it makes the world even more unknowable and strange. Almost like you are working out what to do and what the hell is going on. It can be difficult at first to work stuff out, but it's doable. The item screen does give you slight indications about what the item may do for some things, and others it'll just be trial and error. For the price it goes for, I would say it is worth grabbing for the horror experience. Just don't expect to beat it. I also covered it on one of my early Saturn Gems videos, linked below at the appropriate timestamp. Be warned though that this was an early episode when I was playing around with the format, so it's very rough.
