Sega Touring Car Championship on the way. Right, I don't know if you remember how badly this game controls when you had your Saturn before, but get yourself a Steering Wheel or 3D Pad if you wish to play Touring Car, if you don't, well you aren't exactly gonna have the best time with it

The Clockwork Knight games are both too generic and unambitious in my eyes. Plenty of Megadrive platformers are far longer, more imaginative and unique than Clockwork Knight I do believe them being short has something to do with them being split into 2 games, I think there is a Japan only release where both the games are combined into one, and the game as a whole feels less half baked apparently (bug/graphical fixes, CK 1 running on 2's refined engine). But yeah Clockwork Knight is quite dull. I remember playing it at this retro gaming event at a museum a few years back and thinking it was boring. Apparently the 2nd one is slightly better so if I find it cheap enough I may give it a try. If I still don't like it I can always sell it.

Streets of Rage 3 never gets any love lol. Thats my favorite one. Btw Micro Machines 1 or Micro Machines: Turbo Tournament? Never played SOR3, shamefully. Will have a go some time. I had both of those MM games, loved them. Probably the latter more due to having more content. Was that the one you could make your own tracks? That was fun I think that was Micro Machines 96. The same game to MM2 except there's a track editor added (which was in the MS-DOS version of 2), plus some new music and a few other tracks.

Tonight my parents had some friends round for dinner. Known them for quite a while, and the subject of retro games has been brought up before when we we've been with them. They've said they once had a Game Gear with a few Sonic games, Streets Of Rage, Columns, Super Monaco GP and a Indiana Jones one, but they'd long since binned it after the capacitors went kaput like most do before. However today was very interesting regarding games. Spoke to them about what games I'd got recently for the Saturn, when one of them tells me their brother had one with around 20 games, he was apparently very into it. They said there was a chance he still had it, but even if he does it's gonna be very hard to get it as he lives in Switzerland now. But, they then go on to say they had A SODDING VECTREX when they were younger with 5 games. Best part is, it's currently with their parents, who they know kept everything up in the attic and all in it's original boxes, including the screen overlays. The Vectrex is just as scarce here as it is over in the US, if not more, and I'm just utterly speechless. They said that they're sure they'd let me have it, and since I've had the pleasure of playing one before at a gaming museum (and loving it), I'm stoked. They said they'd speak with their brother and parents, but warned me it might take a while and can't guarantee I'll definitely get them, especially for the Saturn stuff. But hey, with a bit of luck, I could have a very rare piece of gaming history and a stack of new Saturn games . Update on this situation- apparently the Vectrex was sold (at a car boot sale, no less) a number of years ago. Gutted. The Saturn one of their brothers had, well they still have it though. They sent me the list of games and I sadly had all the games except for Fighters Megamix, which I'm promised will be getting soon. Also I'm stopping Saturn collecting for a while, and possibly this forum too. I'm gonna be going on a trip to Paris with my school for a week near the end of July, which includes stuff like Disneyland and a look around the shops. I want to be saving up lots of money for it, and making a few sacrifices (the trip cost £300 or so) and video games is one of them. I'll still be active and participating in sych's game polls more often than not, if I have those games, but as a whole I won't be around as much.

I don't know if this is unfair but I've only really played one of these games on the Saturn! Although this doesn't mean I haven't played the other two through other means.
I've actually played Die Hard Arcade as it was meant to be played, well, in an arcade. Sadly where it was is long gone (it was at a small caravan camp's games room- I heard they went bust a year ago). But I guess this does count as it's an ST-V game after all.
My thoughts on this one are mixed. In my short time playing it (I had 2 plays, one I got up to stage 2 and the other I got up to 3), I thought that it was rather good for an early 3D beat em' up as I'd heard not very good things about them, with some great weapons to use. I got a real kick out of them. However I thought the quick time events were a bit jarring personally.
Three Dirty Dwarves, now the way I managed to play this one was strange. I was staying with some relatives (second uncle and aunt I think? no-one else was available) in the US for the weekend or so while my dad had some back surgery done- I wasn't really too bothered or knew what was going on, I was only about 4. They had a PC which was getting quite old by this point, they were about to replace it. Anyway during the time they'd had it they amassed a big collection of CD-ROMS, which I just took as CD's at the time, until one of them mentioned they thought there was a videogame or two in there. And, the game they had was, you guessed it, the PC port of Three Dirty Dwarves.
I hadn't realised it was this game until very recently. Of course since I was 4 I didn't know anything about video games besides something like Mario Kart Wii by this point, so I was pretty bad at it. My memories are fuzzy but I remember liking the cartoon intro, and not quite getting why you switched characters or just doing anything in the game at all. Still I think I got the hang of it and I almost completed what what I know know is the 'Streets of Bronx' level. I suppose I shouldn't count this game but I have at least played it to some extent.
And, finally, Guardian Heroes. Wow, this game. Where to begin. It helps that this is the only game out of these three I own, but I can safely say that this game would easily still be at the top if I owned both Die Hard and Dwarves. Honestly, it comes as no surprise to me as I've loved the rest of Treasures games I've played so far, but I just plain adore this game. Two genres that I don't particularly like too much, RPG's and beat em up's, for some reason, are just perfect together here.
I love the multiple paths you can take, I love the various characters to play as with their different attacks, I love the different endings you can achieve based on your karma, I love the crazy and unbalanced battle mode (which I have indeed played with 6 players at a gaming event), I love its quirky synth rock soundtrack, honestly if I had any criticisms about this game they'd be purely nitpicking.
I don't know how they do it, but every game I've played by Treasure have been amazing (even Alien Soldier, which I am terrible at). I'm not over exaggerating when I say that I consider Guardian Heroes to be one of my favorite games of all time, and for someone who's still quite young, I've played a lot of games. So naturally GH gets my vote.
(Also, I may one day get Die Hard Arcade if I can find it for a cheap enough price, but Three Dirty Dwarves is unlikely.)

Ohhh this one's a tough one for me. I already love Virtual On just a week or so after getting it, I still haven't properly gotten into it though. I can only barely finish stage 5 right now, and I've only tried 4 of the mech's so far. But what I have played I love, and I think it's gonna grow on me.
Virtua Fighter 2... well, I'd say is my least favorite out of these three. It's got the better graphics by far, but I just don't feel it's quite as playable as Fighting Vipers or even VF Remix for me. I just don't know what it is with me and this game. Still, I can see why people like it so much and I don't think it's bad.
So, Fighting Vipers is my favorite overall. I think the gameplay is a lot more fast and fluid, which is how I like fighting games personally. The characters are more varied, and I find the special moves a little easier to pull off. And features like the body armor and the breakable walls just add a bit more.

Had a successful garage sale crawl today, there was lots around where I live as it was bank holiday Monday. Anyway got some PS4 games on the cheap, but the highlight Was Virtual On for £5. (You'll have to take my word for it, my phone isn't liking me uploading photos here)
Anyway this was part of a lot with a Saturn console with the usual games (VF 1 + 2, Sega Rally, a few others and obviously Virtual On) for £30. I had or didn't need the rest, so I kindly asked the seller if I could split the bundle and only buy Virtual On and he agreed. Very happy with this, I couldn't find any decent prices for it on eBay. It's in great condition as well.

To be fair you can get your Saturn chipped now and with the advent of Pseudo Saturn, some sellers are taking advantage of it, but this is older than that right?

Welcome to the forums!
I'd imagine Rampage World Tour being hard to find and a bit pricey is because of it being a late release for the Saturn, I think it was right at the end of 1997. If you have your PS1 still, you can get it on that at much less of a price. They're almost indistinguishable as you can tell from this video.

I have to agree, Saturn promo stuff is great. The fact that most of it has been destroyed already makes it even better when one is found. UK posters for the 3 arcade conversions recently turned up on Ebay, they'd look fantastic lined up together. The Sega Rally one has been already sold, but here's links to the Virtua Cop one and two Virtua Fighter 2 posters if anyone's interested. Virtua Fighter 2
Virtua Fighter 2Virtua Cop
(the games aren't just for scale, they come with the posters too)

Also don't get too down as like you said, this is a variant that will pop up again. I only get mad when I lose/miss out on something rare that might not come around for years. Hence I just paid $170 for a Sonic 3D Blast store promo banner as in my 15 years of looking for display stuff, had never seen it. I regret those misses but in the case of something that you can just make another go at, just keep trying. Pic? It's on the previous page of this thread.

Looking back on that post it the way I worded it and the emoji makes it look like I was actually crying- I'm all fine and well, it's just a video game I lost out on, albeit a slightly rare variant . On the other listing, it's a bit too steep if I'm perfectly honest, especially when the one I was bidding on went for £20 ultimately. There's another one from Portugal on there too, I think it's around £40 postage and packaging combined, I'm considering that one now, though as I said I may as well get Virtual On and maybe Virtua Cop instead and wait and see if another turns up down the line. The fact that most of the Panzer Zwei plastic variants are turning up in Portugal is odd. Makes me wonder if it's a regional thing for some of them.

dear god sonic 3d's soundtrack is one of the best things ever made. The soundtrack is epic. Rusty Ruin and Diamond Dust are my two personal favorites. I think we can all agree any game music Richard Jacques has composed is great. His Daytona Championship Circuit Edition and Sonic And Allstars Racing Transformed remixes, all of Metropolis Street Racer on the Dreamcast, his pieces for the console ports of OutRun 2, and of course, Sonic R aswell As much as I'd want to talk about how great this music is, this thread is for Saturn pickups, and I have a couple new ones. After a short while off of Saturn collecting to enjoy the games and to save up, I'm now sitting on around £60 to spend on (but not limited to) Saturn games for the UK's spring break. Anyway, these 2 are the first games I've bought so far: I'm planning to finish up the arcade conversions before I start getting more of the Saturn's exclusives, which is my aim for this year, so these two were pretty high up on the list. Both were in great condition, Winter Heat was £5, Manx TT (plastic case version too!) was £3, quite good prices. Both were from a mainly modern gaming shop in Derby with a small retro selection. Looking to get Virtual On and Virtua Cop next, said shop had the former in, but it was £40 crazy how shops can have quite good bargains on some games but gouge the hell out of others. Hopefully I can get it for at least £20. Don't wanna go too high on it.
