Dunno how close peeps here follow the stuff on eBay but.. I just pulled the trigger on that Last Bronx / Steep Slope Sliders pair that was on eBay.. realized I had a 10$ coupon to use so I bit the hook.. if anyone else was watching it.. sry if someone here was selling.. thx! Congrats. Last Bronx is my personal fave fighter on the Saturn. It's delicious and has a much more manageable pace vs, say, VF2 - which is quite twitchy comparatively. Characters in LB are much cooler too...

I didn't realize it was a follow up to MUSHA until I googled it. Interesting. But also agree with you, I prefer the 32 bit shooters myself. So, more importantly, have you had chance to try it out since buying it? What do you think and, do you own MUSHA too? I had a JPN copy of MUSHA, but sold it recently at a games show. Caused quite a stir in the UK YouTube gaming community (supposedly) as mine was the only copy for sale at the show, at a good price, and the guy who bought it, apparently, 'always' gets all the good finds/deals! Personally, I sold it because I thought it was a 'decent' shooter, but nothing groundbreaking. But, apparently, the rest of the MD/GEN gaming world feels differently. A weird situation whereby, you've already played the game, countless times, thought it was alright... then you sell it... and everyone else is wax lyrical about how amazing it is. Makes you want to get it back and see what it is your missing about this gaming epiphany! I think we've all been there...

There's a Twin-Stick mode in the PS3 release of Under Defeat Yeah, I think that may be in the XBLA version too. It doesn't bother me too much though, as I love the original control method a LOT Well, in that case, you DEFINITELY need to check out Zero Gunner 2. 'Tis amazinger !!!

I'm just not a shmup person in general. I love shmup music, but tend to be pretty cold on the genre overall, which is fantastic for my wallet, especially in regards to the Saturn I'm much more of a twin-stick guy. I love stuff like Robotron 2084 and Smash TV. Also Geometry Wars. I gotta say though, I do have a bit of a soft-spot for some Dreamcast shmups. I love Under Defeat, Psyvariar 2 and Trigger Heart Exelica. There's a Twin-Stick mode in the PS3 release of Under Defeat

Question for you, you're a shooter guy. Any thoughts on Robo Eleste? Is that one that made it to the MegaCD in Europe? Never had the opportunity to play it myself tbh as I don't have a Mega CD. I've just watched some video's though on YouTube. It looks decent. It's not very "Aleste" though, not compared to MUSHA or, especially, Super Aleste - which is easily the best Aleste to date. Personally, I've only ever owned Super Aleste and MUSHA though. Yeah, so ROBO Aleste looks decent enough but, not quite as good as MUSHA and SUPER from what I can tell. I'll be honest though; I'm not 'big' on 16-bit era console shmups tbh. I like them, but don't enjoy them anywhere near as much as PS1/SAT era shmups. They're a bit more simplistic by comparison, although titles like Thunderforce IV were just way ahead of their time for the MD. That is truly amazing game! Shame they never made a SEGA CD specific Thunderforce, huh?

Unbelievable finds today from a local collector who was looking to get rid of some stuff on the cheap. Ive been trying to get MM8 and MMx4 for years only to see the prices skyrocket. Almost gave up on owning them until today. So random that this person had these and in mint condition. Got them for half of their Ebay value. Also I finally own a copy of Snatcher. Too good of a deal to pass up. Much less than its ebay value. Finally Robo Eleste is one of the shooters and games in general that Ive wanted for Sega CD. Still can't believe I have some of these titles in my possession at a really really good price. Not often I comment/post in her but... nice haul Derek! Chuffed you got what you've been after for so long. I know how it feels when certain things, in your own mind, just become financially unattainable (i.e more than you're willing to pay, realistically).

Thanks! I haven't put in much time with K-1 yet, but from what I recall, Savaki feels a lot more fluid. It looks like it would be awkward from the footage, but it's really not. I guess both have the fact that you take a slower and more deliberate approach to your moves, but from the little I've played of K-1, I think I prefer Savaki. That could change, should I put more hours in, but for now, Savaki it is. It may not have a lot of modes or arena's, but the fighting feels really, really good. It makes me want to keep playing, that's for sure! Great recommendation of Savaki. I got myself a copy. You were right, it's a bit of a hidden gem. Super impressive hi res 3D graphics and fun gameplay. Easily surpassing K1-Fighting Illusion for me. Heh...: segasaturngroup.proboards.com/post/87430/threadSaves me repeating myself

Hi Michael and welcome to SSUK.
Whenever I'm up your end I tend to nip into Level Up games on Renshaw St. Have some decent bits in there from time to time. Probably best keeping an eye on their facebook page.
See you around.

You don't need to return the game, just get your PAL Saturn modded. It's a worthy investment in the long run, especially if you want to continue to run NTSC games on a PAL Saturn. ^This. Just get a "switchless' mod done on your Saturn and: 1) You'll never look back and 2) You'll wonder why you never did it all along It enables you to switch between 50/60Hz on the fly and a colour changing LED tells you which region your console is set to. Sort it

I never saw a jap release on saturn for this one, and not sure for Ultimate MK3 either. Ultimate MK3 is cheaper I think and gameplay spoken, its quite the same than MK3 et MK Trilogy but with larger roster Totally agree with assman as well my mate did, that Saturn gaming nightmare video so I also know how bad it is, don't forget Shang Tsung morphs have really bad loading and both the Kintaro Fatality and the dead body drop from the spike ceiling are both missing from the port. Go for Trilogy or Ultimate MK3 instead, but neither got a Japanese release UMK3 is cheap in Europe but MKT had one of the lowest print runs and is very very hard to find Unfortunately, UMK3 & MKT didn't receive a JPN release, much like Quake & DN3D didn't either. I too, would have liked to have owned them. Apparently (going off what I've heard) it's MKT that is 'broken' and UMK3 is spot-on. Which is good news as UMK3 is a fraction of the price of MKT! Re: Shang Tsung morphs. There's an option in game to turn them off, which I always do. Shang Tsung is formidable enough as it is, as a standalone character, let alone the ability to be EVERYONE. I bet even SNK were jealous of the concept of this guy! - I saw lots of same comments about Fatal Fury 3, often mentioned it's terribly slow. Is there other negative aspects? I enjoyed Fatal Fury 3, it's far from a perfect port but it is better than MK2. Unfortunately, Fatal Fury 3 is just a victim of SNK not utilising the RAM cart to play the game. As such, it's a little jerky on certain stages and slows down a bit here and there. If you have access to no other copies, then it's fine for the price. But overall, it's a disappointing port vs how all of SNK's other ports turned out on Saturn. FF3 is actually really good too. Just an awkward games, as it sits between the excellent FFSpecial and the RBFF series. It's a bit of a black sheep of the series but, make no mistake, FF3 is excellent in it's own right It's potentially worth mentioning that it's included in FF Battle Archives Vol.1 available for PS2 in JPN, US & PAL!

The local shop has these available and I can either get Gex and Sky Target or Clockwork Knight 2? It's really up to you tbh Clockwork Knight 2 & Gex are both 2D style platform games Sky Target is a spiritual successor to AfterBurner and, as such, plays VERY similarly. I'd imagine Clockwork Knight 2 is the best of that bunch on the whole. How many are you planning on buying? All or just one or two? If it's one, go for CK2. If it's two, go for CK2 & ST. If it's three...
