Doubt it. I played this game as a kid ( on amiga ) , so my memory might fail me on this. The good thing: for the time it had a great atmosphere and it was fun to play . The bad thing: it tended to get real boring after a while.
Again, it has been ages since i played this, so I might be wrong. Also: I must add that I am not a fan of the whole WH ( 40K ) thing. Could never be bothered to play myself. Friends of mine did. Just give the game a try and you'll find out for yourself.

Then don't play them on PC. It's just like saying "I'm not interested in any books written after 1980". I don't really get why it's that much different than playing on console, just often with better graphics. If you have the budget for a reasonably good rig of course. Even the standard controller thing is pretty much moot now since all modern games use the 360 controller as standard. Anyway, back on topic! I'm going to nominate Purikura Daisakusen. While it doesn't have the best controls, its bright visuals and fun coop play make it a nice one to take out from time to time. There are people that prefer watching movies before the 80's or 70's. Less violent, more characters, no CGI, etc. I am not saying I'm one of them. There are also those that prefer vinyl above cd's, saying it sounds better. If one were to tell you that you could counter by saying there are many factors involved and a decent modern soundset could beat vinyl. ( all a matter of what is the weakest component really ). You could technically be right In the end however it is a matter of opinion. IF one doesn't want to play modern games because one does not like them , that is up to that person. Whatever your views on that ( and again I'm not saying you're wrong regarding your arguments ) are irrelevant.

Don't forget joypads have evolved over time too, I wouldn't expect modern gamers to be so forgiving of the games 'novel' control scheme. That's a ridiculous attitude to take. You do realize they still make 2D games right ? The PC indie scene alone has heaps of quality oldschool 2D games that will run on ancient hardware. Why ridiculous? Perhaps the person is not interested in playing PC games, or at least fighters on PC. Perhaps he doesn't spend a lot of time on games in general these days and the older games feel more familiar for whatever reason. I can understand your reason for thinking that modern games can deliver the same level of entertainment as old games. But there are others that might have a different view.

Don't really agree with Mik on this. I do think he's right when saying Bomberman is one the games that is top of the list. But many Saturn games are fun to play these days and some still look great. Many fighters have great graphics and gameplay: DOA, Fighting Vipers, Street Fighter ( alpha ) , Virtua Fighter 2. But there are plenty of other titles that look fantastic. Time has been less kind for my Atari 2600 games

I'd say Saturn pong would actually be a good start. If that proves to difficult , than a RPG is out of the question for sure

" but where I live we just call a guys like you a poseurs " I doubt Ninja could be called a "poseur". He's most likely fairly decent when it comes to these kinds of games. Should be anyway with a bazillion hours of gamingexperience ;D Don't take it all to serious and best of luck with your kamikazi desires.

Agree with Buck this time (~~). Not only are the NTSC version better, but there are significantly more games to play. A JP saturn is the best option if you are really into playing. As there are more JP games in circulation those tend to be cheaper too. ( I got a JP Saturn Bomberman for $10,- , most PAL copies go for $40-$50, on ebay and stores anyway. just to give you an example ) . Since the PAL library is limited it is a lot easier to complete, but as MIK said: there are better ways to spend your money. Than again: if you like to collect, who are we to judge But , very much like MIk said: if you're going to let your games collect dust than the money is better spend on a good trip to Japan with your significant other ( In your case a guy, in my case rather not ~~ ). Plenty of retro games shops to be found in Tokyo or Osaka

Its still cool, though perhaps not so much rare. I have a normal copy of DOA ( JP ) , which does not include the artworkbookthingy you showed in the video and paid roughly the same I guess.
As long as you are happy with your purchase , stay happy. Sure, it might have been nice to find out that that DOA copy was worth more than the Playboy mansion.. but now NeoGeoNinja smashed that fantasy, you still have a nice game ( i still find it fun to play ) and some extra's too.

Are the games decently priced at the convention? Since there are so many different suppliers it really depends who you buy from I guess. If you don't like the prices you can allways attempt to offer what you think is decent. . Especially near the end of the day some sellers will drop their prices. Do pay attention though! I overheared some buyers when i left the convention last year. They bought NES games , but when they opened the boxes they found out it contained a standard Mario Bros game. As far as I can tell it was just one seller near the entrance. I do however find these rumors desturbing and particularly nasty.

Welcome chap I'm from the south of holland too. Etten-Leur ( Near Breda ) to be more exact. You might want to check the Retro convention in Deurne next month if you want to find some Saturn stuff. They had even had a few boxes of JP games last year. The magixbutton stand was awesome. ( Must add that their webstore can get a bit expensive )

infernalcombustion - Thanks for the welcome. and yeah, I spend more time restoring consoles than I do playing them I'm sure, lol. And I heard about all this Saturn vs. Playstation stuff, even now it still goes on in some forums, it's a bit silly really, the Xbox 360 vs. Playstation 3 ones now annoy me too, as the gap is even less between those consoles. used. Well it appears ( to me anyway ) that - allthough this is the Saturn forum - people tend to like several platforms. For me - as for most here - its all about content and not just the hardware. The Saturn is a great machine, but it also has some great games. I don't really care for the whole xbox360 , PS3 or PC is better discission. I like to play Starcraft 2 on my PC and i personally wouldn't want to play strategy games on a console. Than again I like me consoles and there are few things that are better than playing a good RPG on a big screen in the living room. I don't care if you like playing on a xbox360, PS3, PC or an antique Atari2600. As long as the games are enjoyable. Welcome to the forum!

Watch yamatoku-classic on Ebay. That seller usually has Boxed sega saturns ( white ones too )for a decent price.
I checked but currently he has none. Might change soon though.

Some Streetfighter 2 , Worms and Virtua Fighter. My Niece kicked my nephew behind several times today. Button Bashing can be very effective at times.... I laughed very hard.
