There is a possible explaination: Demand does not actually drop because there is a different supplier ( XBOX ), but increases due to more people getting familiar with the product and those go looking for the original cart ( and console ). Not saying that this is happening now, but it a scenario.

As long as you take good care of Silvergun and the likes its a pretty solid investment. More and more people world wide are getting into retro games, which would indicate prices on the long term will probably rise. Allthough I'm not really into paying 150 euro's for a game even if it is great.

www.ebay.com/itm/200818825292?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649Should be a proper cable for your NTSC device. If possible go to a local retro store and get a controller there. ( if they don't overcharge ) . If its not any good you should be able to get a refund. Its allways good to have second controller , because one of the Saturns selling points even today are the fighting games and who wants to play those games by themselves?

Just won a bid on saturn bomberman for 14 euro's a few minutes ago. The condition is not mint, but as long as it gets here and i can play the game I'm happy. The alternative was buying saturn bomberman in a retro gameshop not far from my home, but they were asking € 50 ,-.

I would assume that disc format is the only thing that would matter. To my knowledge the disc format of JP disc is the same as a pal disc. This seems logical. If the disc's were of a totally different format than an action replay cart wouldn't even work.
( for example I have read that the Atari Juguar uses a disc format that allows to store more data on one CD, with the side effect that discs seem to deteriorate at a much faster rate )

Allthough I have no technical background I'd say no. There is no reason for the laser being used more when using action replay. There are some that believe that using a modded saturn the laser would have less work, due to it not reading the outer rings. The impact of this remains unclear though and again: this only applies to modded saturns, not when using action replay.

had a few goes on street fighter alpha 2-i suck at fighting games! You're not the only one. Keep getting my behind kicked by my sisters kid when playing Dead or Alive. Now i know how dad used to feel. O well at least I do manage to win some rounds. Must say that i like the whole "fast response" idea better than street fighters combo-style play. The first DOA feels really fast, just like playing on a modern console, just without the fancy HD... But when you're to bussy buttonbashing you really don't even notice that. ;D

I think your general opinion of game might not be that far off. I last played Primal years ago, but from i can remember its a bit of a mixed bag. You have "puzzles" action and a bit of exploring. The general controls were not that bad, but nog great either. However, I really liked the artwork, soundtrack and characters. You mentioned the whole "gothic"vibe thing and if nothing else this game does have that. As for that honest response: Okay with that. As long as people don't turn forums into flamewars I'm usually okay with a lot of things. Not to familiar with the whole martial arts TPS genre, so I guess I'll be of little use there. My main genre is RTS and TBS.

I'm not a Saturn Hardware specialist so anyone here is free to correct me if I'm wrong: Like any other hardware the Sega has a chip for soundprocessing, so what you said ( "like something internally wrong.. " ) is possible. However: the video cable is usually the first thing to check, since the cable is is plugged in and removed several times during its lifespan ( some more than others ) . If you don't have a friend with a cable ( an s-video to composite or scart if I'm not mistaken ) - doesnt have to be one that came with a sega console - you could also use the cable to connect another s-video device you might own. Also, a cheap cable to check will set you back 5 dollars, so thats no big investment to make certain your console is not the cause. Do note that better quality video cables can cost you a bit more You could also try asking for a spare cable here , but if there were people willing to help the shipping costs alone wouldn't make it worth your while. Hope your console is fine

"but I have a weakness for what it represents: a dark gothic presentation with a rocking soundtrack" Have you ever played Primal? It is a Playstation 2 title. Not the best game ever , but the whole "feel" of the game is awesome. One of the best PS2 titles around. Well if you ask me anyway

The first question that follows might be very obvious, but what cables do you use to connect your saturn to your TV ( 's ) and have you tried an alternative cable. Might be too simple a question.

I must add that one is better of playing Worms on a pc rather than the Saturn. The game can get slow and I find the whole aiming with a controller lacking in accuracy. I'm a great fan of Worms and its still a nice title to have for your Sega, don't get me wrong. Its also one of the more affordable games out there. Its just that this is the sort of game that runs better on a pc.
