The Saturn port was messed up (well documented what happened in other threads) and is probably the worst port released. Even the Japanese version that I own (which was supposed to be a slight bump in performance) is a hot mess. Since its one of my favorite games of all time I own every version simply to have it.

Yeah I think no doubt a flashed cart. He keeps skirting a direct answer, maybe to make it seem more official. In theory a CD and 4MB cart is no different than had you played some of the Capcom fighters back 98.

Last Bronx is probably my favorite so you have that covered. Fighting Vipers Id give a go as well... oddly enough the only original complete Saturn title I still have from 97

Obviously the game isn't worth the price it goes for, If you're a Sega Saturn owner/collector unfortunately in theory every game is "overpriced" you just have to bite the bullet.

Glad you like it Adam. Personally between the 2 cartoony platformers we got in the west Im much more about Astal (although totally different games). I also much prefer the first Keio on Sega CD as its a shooter. I was actually kinda disappointing when I found out this wasn't also a shooter. Ill have to give it another try down the road if I get access to it again.

Rossi im right there with you. I still can't emulate Saturn. Im not sure Ill ever get there. Ive tried convincing myself but with Saturn I only feel right with original hardware and original copies of games. To me this system will always be a "total experience" for me. I dont even like disc only copies of games, I need CIB as I enjoy the artwork, manuals, backart etc. I think its also the history and nostalgia of owning the big cases and even somewhat to what Adam said, I feel the system deserves to be collected. Its tough living this way because of the cost of games. Luckily I purchased most in the affordable era or I might have forced myself into Psuedo Saturn by now.

Picked up a complete copy of Shining Force III. Nice grab! I assume the NA version? Id say one of my favorite coverarts (and backarts if you wanna get more specific). Although its really a blownup version of the JPN cover, its still great.

Yeah the US price market has been insane since 2010 probably but some titles have peeled back a touch while others have gone higher. I noticed PAL has taken a similar route over the last 2 years
But yes forums in general across the internet have been dwindling in interest. I think there are too many avenues now to discuss topics be it reddit, blogs, twitter, facebook groups... it spreads the platforms thin.

He seems to keep dodging the CDR question so to me it seems like its a cart game too. I guess thats actually neat in some ways, if people just started making games as if the cart slot were made for gaming like we all thought when the system first came out. Turning the Saturn into a genesis lol.
That said if hes just staying quiet and in fact figured out how to produce legit Saturn CDs that would be nuts.

This is awesome, Its crazy to think we've never really gotten a new Saturn game ever. While Genesis and DC have gotten many. I mean the the reasons are obvious as to why, but always kind of dreamed this would eventually happen.
As for the physical release, I hate that the disc pressing issue was never solved like with just about every other system known to man.
However reading through the facebook posts he seems to be claiming no mod required... wonder if thats simply his way of saying a cart will work...
If this dude randomly found a way to get discs working on a stock system then hes a god in my book.

This is great news. I wouldn't mind playing a slightly more shined up PD 1 and 2. Im perfectly fine playing the originals but Im excited to see what could come of this.

Ok so a couple things. If you shoot the falling powerup that looks like a skull with a knife through it, youll take damage. Avoid shooting those. It adds a bit of strategy to it.
The zombies that pop up on the front of the screen, you have to use the bullet mapped to the Z button. And the black witch looking enemies you have to use one of the 2 other style of bullets. Sorry I cant explain it better. Once you figure out the flow of the game you'll master it.

Well, I got my brand new copy of Corpse Killer - only to find out it's the only version of the game that doesn't support the light gun!! I feel a bit cheated!!! I thought I mentioned that but its the only version that doesn't support the light gun... however from what Ive read the light guns are uselessly inaccurate in all versions and they aren't continuous fire. Although it would have been neat just to include it anyway, I feel like this game works far better with a controller especially since you have to switch between the different bullets. I recall having the same feeling when I read this before playing it, thinking wtf, only to realize it still the best version.

Felt the need to update this thread simply to add Corpse Killer. Can't believe I forgot about it when posting. Its a fun B-Movie Zombie Horror game. Most of the gameplay is light gun (although no Stunner support) but it has a surprising amount of strategy and grinding. Oddly the Wiki page for the game even calls it "survival horror" although I wouldn't go that far en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Corpse_KillerCorpse Killer, ugh. Quite possibly the epitome of excessive repetition and poor design for the Saturn. My review for that game is now nearly eight years old, and I still stand by it. If anything, I think I was overly generous at a couple points. Ha your review is not inaccurate in any way... But martiniii I will admit this game is "guilty pleasure" for me for odd reasons. I personally think the shooting segments although repetitive are actually enjoyable enough to grind a bit and finish the short story. But I was actually more amazed to find around the internet that people generally like this game like I do. Some find it the only playable Digital Pictures title.
