Just hooked up a brand new retrobits controller and it feels so good. So responsive. It makes me wonder if my 3d controller is just old or it was built that way. I know I once killed a ps2 controllers x button, but besides that, I can't remember any other time I've thought the buttons on a controller were significantly mushier or less responsive than another.

I didn't notice any spurious inputs with mine and I always leave the AR cart in, I'll give it a bit longer though. I'm using it with a Quanba Drone stick. Try it on nights and go back and forth between the wingman and 3d pad and let me know what you think.

Oh my god, I'm the biggest fucking moron ever. I finally got to the Burrbs, second to last level. And I just realized, on the home screen, you can start at any level with the same number of continues you had when you first got there... I'd been going back to the beginning of the entire game when I ran out of continues... I was thinking to myself, "Gee this game is way too long. Going back to the beginning is just too punishing wgen it takes several hours to get back to the point you died at."
So, basically, I've perfectes the first 5 levela and can get through them without dropping a continue. Lol. I take it back. This game isn't harder than contra or ninja gaiden. I'm just a moron.

So, I got this thing a few months ago and it's a mixed bag for me. I used it with a PS4 controller. Pros: It's very responsive. I feel no input lag at all. Not only that but the buttons are a lot more responsive than the Saturn 3d controller. You can spam the face buttons a lot faster and with more timing accuracy than the Saturn controller. Of course, the Saturn controller is 25 years old. So it's got an excuse for not being ultra responsive. It really is noticeable mooshy. I wonder if there's anything that can be done to restore the 3d controller. Cons: The analog stick is responsive, but has its issues. Playing NiGHTS is like playing on ice. When you do your dash move you can't make a slight adjustment to the flight path, you just go flying all over the place if you move in any direction but left or right. It should be fine for racing games, and most games aren't as temperamental as NiGHTS.[/strike] It's the weirdest thing. In the action replay, using the brook wingman, buttons will randomly get pressed. I haven't seen it delete anything, but it's definitely a little concerning and annoying. The default button layout is stupid. Why is C on R1? Why is X and Y on box and triangle? It's like they thought this was a SNES controller or something. You can remap it though, so not a huge deal. Edit: I was a big fat dummy and didn't switch the controller from regular mode to 3d mode. The analog stick is fine. www.brookaccessory.com/detail/62472958/ Here's a link to the instructions and to update firmware if need be.

I just picked up Bug! again this week and god it is -so- hard. I'll get to Splot level 1 with all my lives and continues and it's just one impossible thing after another. But it's rewarding and exciting, you know, beating a certain area that took you so long to overcome.
I have to say, this game is way harder than Contra or Ninja Gaiden. I'm on stage 3 level 1 out of 6 stages with 3 levels a piece and I'm close to being stumped. I just hope the next few levels go easy on me.

It's been a while since I've seen one of these!
I simply have more time in on VF2 and Virtua Fighter overall.

For me it's Bug! I'm not gunna lie. I uncontrollably pass out while playing it. Despite that, I'm really drawn to this game. Some of the platforming is a little clunky, but the art style is charming and the concept of the gameplay is well executed. It's basically a maze platformer with no run button.
The story is laughable. You're supposed to be performing in a movie. Wtf is the moving? A bug running around on a square, linear, maze, hanging, platform in the middle of nowhere? That's deep, man.

I was wondering why I had to sit through it every time. That intro cut scene looks so awful by today's standards. It looks like someone's first attempt at using cgi. The legs don't even move, the feet just shuffle around. Mario Galaxy basically just copied Bug! whole sale . I still have, like 5 more levels to explore and an entirely second game! I fucking love this game. What a hidden gem. I can't believe I never played this before.

Yeah, I'm somewhat surprised by how much I'm enjoying Bug! It has a lot of charm. Now, I know early consoles had clipping/collision issues and the polygon budget was really low. But come on. Look at Bug's right hand. They couldn't give him fingers in the prerendered title screen? They gave him 2 fingers and some bumps. They couldn't be bothered to 3d render some bent fingers. That makes it worse is that he's supposed to have 4 fingers to begin with.

I've been playing a lot of Bug! lately and it's so weird I never played it before. I love platformers. It has a lot of cute gimmicks, but it feels so cheap for some reason. Cheap in a loving way that's growing on me.
What was Spielberg doing at CES 1995?
I was just reading about the history of Bug! on wikipedia. It's interesting to think this is one of the first 3d platformers ever made. I keep thinking to myself, 'This is what Saturn Sonic would be like, but faster... kinda glad that didn't happen.' Apparently there were different characters trying to become the next Sega mascot. So weird to think about that. Sega actually keeping in mind they need a mascot for the new console and trying to find a mascot that -wasn't- Sonic.

I started playing Bug! seriously for the first time. OMG, this character is such a Walmart version of Gex. Maybe it's because I'm preoccupied while playing, but it's also not the easiest game in the world. It's just... it's just so cheesy and cheap looking. It's growing on me though.

Oh, another quick question. Some of the listings say I need a power transformer. However, I'm also reading that I can plug a standard ntsc power cable in and I'm good to go.
What do I need to do in order to power the Japanese Saturn in the US appropriately?

Action replays are region free. I'd recommend keeping your US unit and fitting it with a region free bios; the JP units are yellowing a lot, it is getting harder to find one in its original colours at the right price, plus even if you do, it will eventually start yellowing anyway. Yeah, I've noticed that too... it's been a long time since I've owned a console like that. I remember with the SNES, can't you just clean the yellow off?

I'm thinking about getting one of those hot and sexy grey or white Japanese Saturns, but I might abstain if I can't use an NTSC action replay.
