barryburton, those are good questions. I am not focused on emulation. I also have opinions on how gamers use emulation, but I'm not going to start a flamewar. Arcade has been done before. Sega had a lot of great arcade titles on both systems. I don't think that's the way to go. The Saturn is the best system out there for 2D. There would be no topping that. I think all three of the major consoles have their place in the gaming ecosystem. I'm not looking to do a portable system like the Switch. That seems to be Nintendo's space. Plus, Sony has been trying at portable for years and didn't do well. Xbox is certainly popular, but I think it's bland and just rubs me the wrong way. Sony's PS4 is where it's at. It's an excellent console and has a lot of great games. If you look at a lot of the current Sega titles, most of them are well-made and just have a certain feel to them. Sega is more careful at what they focus on than they used to be. When you look at games like Shenmue II, Yakuza Kiwami 2, and Shining Resonance Refrain, they just have that Sega feel to them. I think fans appreciate that they are well-crafted, have great artwork, interesting characters, and good battle systems. With the console I have in mind, the games would be what makes the system special. There could be a focus on anime, RPGs, or specifically on game properties that were on the Saturn. The console could be a target for newer indie developers who don't have titles on major consoles. Ok, so to recap: Emulation of retro2D focusedArcade PortableAnd we know you do like Sega games and the PS4. (me too) I still don't understand what your console is meant to do. Consoles like PS4 and Vita are drowning in JRPGs and Anime themed titles so that's not a niche that needs filling with a new console. There are hundreds of Indie developers making games for the current consoles, Android and PC already. In the words of Duncan Bannatyne, "I'm out" But anyway, good luck.

Why would people develop Sega follow ups for your console rather than the mainstream machines, like with Sonic Mania? What's the USP?
I'm asking to be constructive, this is the type of question you need to have a rock solid answer for, even if this is just a fun pipe dream.

I don't know what games it would have. There are a lot of excellent Saturn titles that could use follow-ups. This is just a concept. I never claimed that it would be better than Saturn/Dreamcast. That would be a tall feat. Switch is a different kind of system, so I don't think it's super comparable. Technically speaking, I have the skills to develop the console. I've built computer systems before. I'm just trying to find out if people would be interested or if it's not worth doing. Obviously, Sega spent millions of dollars on Saturn and Dreamcast, which didn't sell as well as some other consoles. However, it always bugs me when I read articles saying they were failures. They definitely weren't. I know other people have tried launching new consoles using crowdfunding and have failed miserably. Additionally, does anyone have a winning lottery ticket they want to donate? OK, I appreciate you can't promise something better than Saturn or Dreamcast, that would be beyond an indie project. Fair enough. But what are you looking to do that is different to what already exists? What do you dream of offering that is different to the Xboxes, PlayStations and Nintendos of the world? Forget about the GHz and drive speeds for now, that's the type of question you need to answer. Would it be an arcade machine? Would it focus on 2D? Would it be much cheaper? Don't forget there are umpteen mini-computers (raspberry pi etc) and tablets out there that offer emulation of every type of retro game imaginable. Let us help you develop your ideas.

I think we might have a crackpot here. But in the spirit of the question...
We need more info on what you want to sell. So far all I know it will be aimed at people who like Sega consoles, and it has some random components/ specs.
What games will it have? Why would it be better than a Saturn/ Dreamcast/ Nintendo Switch etc etc?
Come on man, either give us something to work with or you sound like a student doing a survey.

You should post this in the Hardware section.
I'm afraid I'm not sure what the problem is, unless you're playing CDR copies and not burned the music tracks correctly.

Good to hear different points of view but I'm with Mick here and as Marc said a while back I want to physically own the whole package and a stack of cdr's just doesn't do it for me.I've looked at pseudo and rhea and I like the idea but an sd card or stack of ripped cdrs isn't for me. I agree with you btw, was just responding to the question of whether Wolf Fang is worth its money as a game. I have a medium sized PAL and JPN Saturn collection and also plenty of PAL PS1 titles. It's all about their tactile quality, the artwork and the nostalgia. I completely agree a stack of CDRs has no charm.

Why not play a burned copy or emulation to try it before splashing out? No game is really worth £80+ purely for gameplay reasons, the money's for its collectible value. I suppose that depends on your point of view, there are plenty of retro games that sell around the £60 mark that I dare say I'd get a lot more enjoyment and replay value out of vs. a new £59.99 title for my PS4 or XBOne. Not that I'm saying this game is one of those because as I said before its not really great enough for its price tag but there are old games that based purely on their play value I'd have no issues dropping £100 on. Hi Mick, I do agree that there are plenty of video games, of all ages, worth paying a great deal for e.g. I'd happily pay £50+ to simply play Panzer Dragoon Saga if I had to. It's just that it's fairly hard to justify paying anything for retro games to just experience them, where there is no way to legally buy a new or digital copy, when they are available for free online. Obviously the physical media and packaging is a different issue entirely and holds all the monetary value.

Does the Action Replay have Pseudo Saturn installed? Standard ARs don't play pirated copies of games.

Oh well, in all craziness I bought a copy of Delisoba Deluxe. Have no idea what I'm gonna do with this one, is it really super-rare-super-sought-after ? I would have found out the answer to that before spending £500+ on a CD, but that's just me. But yes as far as I've heard over the years it's expensive because of its sheer rarity. Certainly not because it's a quality sought after game.

Or just use one of the 3 or 4 ways of playing the English language versions of the game for free and get on with your life

Another vote for Metal Slug here. While I appreciate EAR I just can't get into it. Same here, never managed to get far in EAR. Love a bit of Metal Slug.

After 16 years I finally convinced my wife to play Saturn with me. Namely Baku Baku after I caught her playing Candy Crush and convinced her a Vs match would be much better. And it was. That music haunts your dreams though. This has put a smile on my face. Women go gaga for Baku Baku Animal, its the key to any good relationship. What did she make of Baku Baku Animal? I knew when I created this legendary thread a few years ago that I was on to something lol segasaturngroup.proboards.com/thread/8447/baku-animal-appeal-womenAh yeah I remember that thread, a classic. She enjoyed it, we played a few best of fives. The higher speed settings are actually an advantage once you get your eye in.
