Anyone has a comprehensive list of games that ONLY came in the plastic cases? Is Sega-saturn.net's guide accurate? Here you go. I might have missed 1 or 2. It is almost all the titles released in early/mid 1997 onwards. Atlantis Burning Rangers Courier Crisis Croc Deep Fear Discworld II - Missing, presumed... !? Dragon Force Duke Nukem 3D Enemy Zero Fighters Megamix Formula Karts Frankenstein Independence Day Jonah Lomu Rugby Last Bronx Lost Vikings Marvel Super Heroes Maximum Force Mech Warrior 2 Megaman X3 Midway Presents Arcade's Greatest Hits Mortal Kombat Trilogy NBA Action 98 NHL All Star Hockey '98 Panzer Dragoon Saga Quake Rampage World Tour Riven Scorcher Sega Touring Car Championship Sega Worldwide Soccer '98 Club Edition Shining Force III Shining the Holy Ark Sky Target Sonic Jam Sonic R Steep Slope Sliders Street Fighter Collection Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo Swagman Tetris Plus The House of the Dead The King of Fighters '95 The Lost World Jurassic Park Trash It Winter Heat WipEout 2097 World League Soccer 98 Z Also don't forget the numerous EA releases that only ever came out in the oversized plastic cases. Madroms I used Satakore.com , thank you as always. Note that the Quake, Sonic Jam and Resident Evil release years are 1997 not the years stated. Edit: Madroms has posted a complete list below with all the EA titles and a couple I missed.

The most rare and valuable PAL games really took off in 2016 after the Brexit vote and GBP currency fall. I sold my Street Fighter Collection for £275, and Keio 2 and Swagman for over £200 each in summer 2016. Not saying PAL £ prices aren't ridiculous, they are, but they've been crazy for at least a couple of years.
One thing to bear in mind is that 'sold' eBay listings that were not paid for still show up as paid. Always check it was not relisted before taking a high price sale as accurate. I know this is true as some moron kept over bidding one of my own auctions then closing his account immediately. It shows in the sold list still.

That's ok. Otherwise just have a browse through the forum, there are tonnes of recommendations.
I'd get a 3D pad and a Memory Cart and you'll be set for almost everything. Or an Action Replay cartridge if you want to play Japanese games and Capcom & SNK arcade games with the AR's built-in RAM cart.

Not to mention the fact that CDs don't last as long as we were led to believe and of course having one of these and all your games ready to go is a lot more convenient than having to rummage through a shelf/cupboard of games. Well yes, to my mind it will be the convenience that's the big improvement.

The CD drive dying on the Saturn seems an exaggerated risk to me. Even if it does break... I replaced mine earlier this year and it was easy to buy and install the replacement laser assembly. Really no big deal at all, if you can do Lego Technic, you can replace a Saturn laser. Or am I missing something?

Forgot about Die Hard Trilogy part 2. It's technically not great, there are some quite messy graphics. As Martinii, says the sound is excellent. And still a bit of fun if you're desperate for an alternative light gun game.
If I remember back to 1997 correctly when I last played it with a light gun, there's a lot of slow down in later levels, particularly when using the machine gun. It means the screen is flashing white at a machine gun pace and becomes barely playable. Probably genuinely bad for epileptics as well!

Yeah I got one of those french ones a few months back. I opened it, of course. Games are meant to be played! I think my EAR was also new and sealed. Didn't look like a reseal job. If you bought it from Japan there's a good chance it was a reseal- though not a misleading sense. Some Japanese sellers just seem to pride themselves on delivering it in mint 'as new' wrapped condition. It's a nice touch. Check for any slight signs of wear on the disc or manual. A sealed copy would have been worth a fortune- you've lost a big chunk of cash by opening it if it really was brand new.

There is a big cache of new old Hexen stock somewhere, copies of which come up on eBay a lot. They're French I think.
The seal is just a sticker on the opening of course.

EAR is a fun arcade shooter with a very distinctive style and "story". Certainly worth a play.
But unless you're a collector, which is a different story, it is just not worth anywhere near its price when you can play it for peanuts/ free on PS2 & Xbox compilations and for free on emulators.

Oh yeah, that looks much better. Sorry barry; your post didn't show up in my browser until after I had uploaded the image to vgy.me. How would I upload an image to the forum? There is an "add image to post" button when you reply, at least for me there is. This isn't available in mobile browser, you have to put it in Desktop site mode or use a PC.

Can't you just upload it to the forum?

I'd love to see a remastering specialist like Bluepoint Games have a crack at the original Panzer Dragoon trilogy, Burning Rangers or the complete Shining Force III, but it's clear that Sega has little interest in revisiting these games (all from the later part of the Saturn's life, curiously enough), presumably because of the effort they'd require to update for a modern audience - just how many times they can keep repackaging the same handful of Mega Drive titles remains to be seen... Yes, Sonic, Streets of Rage et al are great titles but ridiculously I just heard they're coming out for PS4 soon (in addition to existing compilations on the likes of PC, Mobile, Wii, Xbox, PS2, PS3 and numerous cheap mini consoles). With some decent marketing the late Saturn titles must be worth remaking. They're fundamentally excellently made games. Chuck in some trophies, DLC and multiplayer and whatever other nonsense today's market demands!

Burning Rangers, especially if it were properly finished. Enemy Zero, but as a VR experience. And my other would be Deep Fear. Well I should bloody well hope a Burning Rangers HD remake would be fully finished hehe. I voted for that too. Enemy Zero in VR would be awesome and terrifying. I forgot to include Deep Fear, great shout. There aren't any other underwater mutant Survival Horrors I can think of!
