This year I am going to splash out on one of the two big ones on my wishlist, since I know there isn't that many other games that I'm eager to get. I'm torn between these two though. Can someone recommend one or the other? As guidance, I'm a big fan of games that have cool / interesting bosses. I've also heard that Taromaru can be tough, but presumably that would be alleviated by lowering the difficulty? I would say Taromaru - It's a true Saturn showcase game. Ok... it doesn't play the best, but it must use almost every Saturn trick in the book (wait until you see the effects used on stuff like the Spider boss !) but no you can't make the game easier lol. Though if you want to splash the cash and likes bosses I would get Radiant SilverGun myself or maybe look at Stellar Assualt. That is..if you haven't got them already.

Such a lot of money for an average game that isn't even very rare- there's a dozen or more on ebay right now. I sold my disc-only version on ebay via auction, early 2017, for £120, if that's a useful guide at all. It one of the harder titles to get, I had real trouble getting that game from my importer back on the time of its release (never mind now) I agree it's not that great to play, but its a real showcase game for the Saturn's chipset. I still wouldn't part with mine

Hi, I recently bought a JP Saturn and was wondering if I could swap the psu with an EU one, the PCB is identical and both have 5 pin (9v, 5v, 3.3v, G, G). Another question, since they both have the same exact PCB can I had the missing components (and swap the ones that don't match) to the JP psu? Thanks Yeah, I've done it for 2 of my white Saturns and the launch Grey one too and they all work fine and have done for years I also did the same for both my USA and Japan Dreamcast, but those were a little more tricky due to revision differences over pins (the same goes for the pin on the controller ports)

I think that was a load of tosh, spun around by Saturn Power and EDGE. I suspect the Cart rumours came from some badly translated press leaks about the Saturn 4-Meg Cart. The only reason Tomb Raider II was cancelled was down to the fact, SONY paid EDOIS a fortune for the console exclusive rights to the series

According to vintage press releases, it seems as if SOA had very high hopes for BUG! as the company's new flagship series. Sales of the original game were so high that plans were announced not just for the eventual sequel, but a computer-animated kids TV show, which I've heard was quite far into production when the powers that be decided to pull the plug on this and another installment in the Saturn franchise that I once saw mentioned under the possible working title of FREE BUG! (due to its major plot element of the two previous auxiliary characters teaming up with a new third partner to help save the titular figure). My guess is that Bug Too! didn't perform as well as originally expected, or maybe Realtime Associates chose to move away from the Saturn, joining the majority of third party developers after mid-1997? Also, it probably didn't help that there were considerable problems behind the scenes at SOA by this point as well - Sega Technical Institute folded soon after the completion of Die Hard Arcade, while many of the remaining staff were quickly assigned to work on either localisations or the ill-fated Eclipse and Black Belt hardware projects, with only a few able to produce relatively basic tech demos when it came time to finally unveil the Dreamcast. This splitting of resources is why the Dreamcast launched with very few US-developed Sega titles in development beyond Geist Force, and even that wouldn't ultimately see the light of day. By contrast, the Saturn hit shelves with plenty of support from Sega's US division, including Black Fire, Ghen War, BUG! and Congo... Actually, maybe it's for the best that their mostly disappointing efforts didn't spill over to dilute the Dreamcast's even more crucial launch window? Very sad, Bug and Bug II were really good games and if not for the insane difficulty levels and lack of saving, could have been amazing games imo. Its a shame Realtime Ass, weren't given the task of making Sonic X, can't help but think they would have done a better job and making a half decent 2.5 Sonic game using the BUG game engine .

I really liked BUG II and felt it could have been made into a great series, if SEGA allowed users to save and checkpoints. Deep Fear needed a sequel and could have been set out in space this time, but I guess it was too late for the Saturn.
SEGA really should have looked at NAMCO and how they made various sequels to RR and done the same with Sega Rally and that amazing game engine. Astal really should have a sequel with double the levels (its only issue). Exhumed II really should have happned and I would have just loved to have seen a Saturn Streets of Rage IV using the Saturn 2D chipset for monster size sprites and 3 player support.

fifa 97 was worse than 96. I agree. 98 was fantastic though, but the saturn version ran and looked like shit. Fifa 1996 was a great blend of Arcade and Sim football and of course the Saturn version supported 8 player action; Back in the day, that was such a laugh to have 8 drunken mates screaming and shouting to pass the ball or to shot. The game was great, I never got the hate myself Fifa 97 was just utter pants on both formats, though to be fair to Perfect, the Saturn port of the rubbish PS version, was really good.

World League Soccer 98 and Olympic Soccer (it plays like Sensible Soccer in 3D) are my fav football games on the Saturn. I also really like Fifa 96 and to me, it doesn't deserve the panning it sometimes gets and is simply ace fun in 8 players mode. GO GO Goal is fun and the best looking football game on the Saturn, it's just that the ball looks wrong and too big. Went back today and played FIFA 96, as I had good memories playing it in the day. And I agree, it's not bad at all. I would actually say it's the best of the FIFA series (On Saturn). I think it actually got worse with 97 and 98 Road To World Cup. I think as time went on EA just cared less and less about that Saturn and put out terrible games. 96 however doesn't look bad and most importantly was enjoyable to play. Hit a screamer from outside the box in extra time for Australia in a 2-1 win over Peru! Haha Fifa 97 was rubbish on both the PS and Saturn, the gameplay was just such a step backwards, the latter PS Fifa games got really good though.
