The 'Average' consumer in the UK never was able to play the PC-Engine; That's wasn't to say the system was poor or didn't have amazing games. Like with films (thanks to my love of Jackie Chan and Horror) I was well used to importing and the same became true for the start of the Mega Drive launch and began my love of Imports for gaming and I never looked back.

@team Andromeda Yes that is right. So many great Saturn Games never made it to the west due to some fishy decisions from Mr Bernie The Saturn is not over future stolar. I ordered Gun Griffion 1 and 2 in the mean time by the way. Cannot way to play them. I have also watched some footage of Mobile Suit Gundam Side Story. I am not familar with the franchise at all but the game looks rather promising. Maybe I am getting it as well at some point in the future. Mobile Suit looks stunning on the Saturn thanks to great use of the VDP2, it just the controls really let the game down so much. I must say MechAssault 2 is really good on the Saturn too also with some lovely use of the VDP2.

Yeah the language barrier for the second game is indeed a problem. It just come in Japan so there is no western version to check on youtube if something is unclear while playing the japanese one. Yeah. Another classic that Bernie and co never brought over. I also really enjoyed Bulk Slash it was a great showcase for Saturn visuals, but again the language barrier was heavy. I'm on my own, but I quite enjoyed Deadlus and Shellshock too

Get both, but I liked the 1st game the most
Thanks for the answer. And yeah I have already considered getting both. According to the footage about the games on YT I find both games equally appealing. And the japanese copies are not that expensive anway. So there is no reason not to get both games.
The language barrier is very heavy in the sequel and I liked the setting of the 1st game more. Both are ace mind and well worth picking up

Bump! Was thinking about this game the other day and something occurred to me… is Die Hard With A Vengeance the first ever 3D open world driving game? Word on the street is that this game is the first 3d open world driving game. www.youtube.com/watch?v=ehj019sa3GcIt's so weird. Looks absolutely terrible. I always had Interstate 76 as the 1st time I saw a 3D open world driving game along with LA Riders in the Arcades

You never seem to read at how poor CyberSled port was on the PS or how Virtua Cop was a more impressive port to that of Time Crisis From what I recall the big 3 from each for their launch windows (in terms of TV, magazine coverage and marketing) were: Saturn: Virtua Fighter Daytona USA Panzer Dragoon PlayStation: WipEout Ridge Racer Tekken I'm on about when the systems 1st hit Japan, not months down the line in the next year. In 1995 the Model 1 board it's self looked old hat with even the console's offering more impressive looking games

Most people were just comparing the biggest fighting and racing games at the time. Most of the market didn’t have time to read into which arcade hardware these games were ported from. Sony USA called "polygon" ma Fanboys compare when it suites their argument or agender. You always see MD fans talk of Snes slowdown but never like to talk of how much better Smash TV is on the SNES to the MD. You never seem to read at how poor CyberSled port was on the PS or how Virtua Cop was a more impressive port to that of Time Crisis VF didn't look bad from the start, you look at the early reviews in Mags and it was full of praise for the game and the graphics even in EDGE Magazine amazingly enough Sure 6 months latter for the Western launch, it looked old hat but that was how fast the industry moved back then

I like VF more because the sound effects are far more bone crushing, the music far better and more importantly its easier to play and learn all the moves, more so for friends who didn't own games VF2 was just too deep and was hard to tell your mates all the moves and for them to learn them all. VF it was much easier and so you had better and closer matches at the time (well for me) Graphically VF1 was an embarrassment on Saturn and I feel it contributed largely to the system’s failure in the west, especially with all those graphical comparisons to Tekken in the magazines back in the day. VF2 was and still is a such a technical marvel that, if it were ready for launch, we’d have been looking at a different story for the Saturn. Other than the jarring disconnect between the 3D floating rings and the 2D backgrounds it still looks nice to this day. VF on the Saturn looked really good, it had a little glitching but on its launch Nov launch it was the best looking 3D fighter by a mile and was a port of a £16,000 coin-up. Tekken on the other hand came out some 4 months latter and was a port of a game running on much the same hardware. Its not really fair or equal comparison and to me I would look to compare VF Remix to Tekken. Both came 4 or 5 months after the launch and both running Arcade version of the consumer hardware Daytona USA did far more damage to Saturn's 3D. But then people pick and choose when it suits. Namco's version of Cyber Sled just looked a mess on the PS but its funny how its never talked about

I much rather play Sonic R with the standard pad compared to the 3D Pad myself

Well looking over the fact that VF 2 or DOA are hardly spring chickens themselves . I like VF more because the sound effects are far more bone crushing, the music far better and more importantly its easier to play and learn all the moves, more so for friends who didn't own games VF2 was just too deep and was hard to tell your mates all the moves and for them to learn them all. The Saturn port is supposed to be pretty good. The Dreamcast got a "perfect" port but it's only as part of an expensive compilation called Yu Suzuki Game Works Vol.1 There was never a volume 2.. The Saturn version is ace. Plays exactly like the Arcade (bar frame rate) and the extra content is nice. I also like how the Arcade tunes are played off the Saturn sound chip too. The Grand Prix mode is really nice too. Such a shame the losers at SEGA Europe/America never brought it over

I remember seeing Power Drift in the arcade and it looked amazing. It had the sit in cab and moved around. Bonkers looking game. It was so far ahead of anything else around the time. I loved the full hydriodic cab too. The one in my local seaside Arcade in Porthcawl (Copper Coin) also had a pin out of the one of the characters form the game that would move thanks to the cabinet motions Fab game too and music was stunning. The Saturn port is very close too bar the frame rate but the extra's make up for it it also plays like a dream with the Arcade stick or the 3D Pad
