And with this one, my collection is complete for the time being. Time to play my whole backlog and calmly enjoy it for the next months!

Finished parallel 1 with Dark Savior and moved on to Story of Thor 2.
Each of these games are unique and i definetely consider them one of the best in the system. Dark Savior's platforming can be frustrating sometimes but as soon as you get the feel of the camera everything just starts flowing a lot better. I'll eventually finish the other 4 parallels.
As for story of thor, i've just started and i'm already mind blown. Gorgeous visuals and the interesting combat system makes it worthwhile my time spent with it. From a first look perspective, the game doesn't seem to have a very deep story, but it's enough to understand motivations.
Either way, when i play games like these i can't stop thinking on how special Saturn really is.

I didn't really find any topic on this although it's likely to be explained around somewhere...
Anyway here it goes: does a japanese King of Fighters 95 Rom work with a pal version?
I found a potentially good deal, but i really wanted to confirm this.
Thanks in advance ; )

Yes, almost every shooter that made it to the US seems to hold a high price. Although since Acclaim released them they stay "reasonable" CIB Darius Gaiden in good condition like this probably $70-80 USD. Puzzle Fighter $75-95. In fact Dandy since I know you're a JPN Saturn guy, Ill run down current market prices of the games in my haul based on my best guess. Alot of this stuff has gotten a bit out of hand in past years. - D $40 - Contra $100 - C Knight 1 $25 - C Knight 2 $50 - Lunacy $175 - Ghen War $15 - Mr Bones $40 - Batman Forever $100 - Puzzle Fighter $85 - In the Hunt $90 - Darius Gaiden $70 - SF Collection $150 - Earthworm J 2 $65 - Three Dirty Dwarves $75 - Galaxy Fight $70 - Last Bronx $35 - Casper $40 - WWS 98 $35 Nice stuff. Some of these titles have prices completely different in PAL version. Lunacy (PAL's name is Torico) - 75£ MR Bones - 120£ SF Collection - 200£ (this one is a little bit hard to analise. It's hard to find it on ebay but it can reach 200£ pretty easily) Darius Gaiden - 120£ (also hard to find. I've seen a couple of these on ebay and prices where about 120ish. Can't really say how overpriced - or if it's overpriced) Puzzle fighter - 40£ The rest of the games is more a less in the same price range. Also, bought a nice Saturn bundle for just 35€. It has: Saturn console 2nd model (with cables and controller) Saturn Bomberman (disc only) Dragon ball Z Clockwork Knight 2 (disc only) Sonic R, Sonic 3D Virtua Fighter 2 Sega Rally Victory goal

I paid around $500 us. Based on the conditions being pretty much 8/10 I figured retail value $1200-$1300+ There are couple of high priced games with not so high ratings like Batman Forever but Im generally drawn to bad games so I might even like it lol. Wow total bargain really. Gongrats on the find!

One of my biggest hauls in my 15 years collecting Saturn. I've generally collected slowly. 1-2 titles every few months but I simply could't pass this stuff up. Found a collector from Montreal that was looking to sell off his collection and was able to get all of this for maybe 1/3rd the value. A couple of these I got at PAX East Game convention in Boston. Very excited to get alot of these as they are a good chunk of obscure/harder to get ones. WW Soccer 98 is kind of like NHL All Star 98 in PAL as far as price and scarcity. I just love finally having boxed complete copies of some of these games I played long ago. CONTRA I can now finally play the 3D mode. Its one of my top 20 Saturn titles so its nice to have the glasses. Games like Lunacy (torico) and Mr. Bones Im ecstatic to finally play after 20 years of looking at screenshots. Same with Casper as I wanted that when I was a kid (yes that movie was part of my childhood lol) How much did you pay for it? From your post i suspect it was one hell of a bargain! Some great games you got there

Dark Savior and Story of Thor 2 are still pretty good. I -love- Dark Savior. The characters and their big futuristic 80's hair. The beautiful bright colors and 80's synths. The difficult and satisfying platforming. The terrible combat and even the minecart level. Holy shit, that minecart level. So cheap. So-so cheap. Does it really hold up though? I think the controls would probably feel clunky to our sensibilities. I think Mr. Bones really holds up. You could port it to Steam or phones and no one would know it was designed 20+ years ago. Actually, i think it's preciselly the combat that makes it shine. It's pretty much a platforming game with 2D fighting

Nevermind did mention SF collection, but i feel like i need to highlight Street Fighter Alpha 2 specifically.
Visually is great and the game doesn't require any kind of RAM expansion. Gameplaywise, having played thousands of hours in the Street Fighter franchise, i can assure you that Alpha series is still the most complex in the whole SF universe. Footsies, execution and mindgames - the game is fun to play at a scrub level, but it's when you move on to the pro scene that you fall in love with it.
As for SF2, well, i always liked it a little bit better than SF3. The overall presentation is better and the announcer too. Sure, it doesn't have the "world warrior" mode, but that's not very important for me. SF2, great game.

Bought the PAL demo disc for Panzer Dragoon Saga. I want to get some hands-on time with the game before I consider dropping real money on the full thing. How much did you buy it for? I´d be tempted to do the same. I´m very picky about RPGs, and I´m not fond of a lot of them. Aside from stuff like Elder Scrolls and Pokemon (which don´t really count) there are only a handful of RPGs I´m into. That said, I do like me some Panzer Dragoon, so I really want to like PDS. But for the price it goes for..... I´m kinda hesitant. Well, i thought so too until recently. I played PD and PD2 when i was 10-12 and i loved those games (especially PD2). However, only the fact that you don't really get to understand anything clearly in those first two games creates a strong argument for Saga. Not only you get to understand almost everything, but also you get some "closure" on the events of PD2 if you finish a couple of sidequests (they're not too hard). The game is 15-16h long but it's amazing. It's probably the ultimate testament to Saturn's power. Also, if you don't like the game that much you'll be able to sell it quite easily : P

Alright, i cleaned up the pins and cleared the whole memory. It's working just fine right now.
One last question: is it okay if i just leave the memory card inserted in the saturn or should i take it off every now and then?

Wow this memory card has a lot more issues that i expected. I bought it without manual too, so i had no clue whatsoever that it could be troublesome if i took off the card with the power on...
Thanks for the tips, i'll try to clean the mem. card!

The most obvious thing I can recommend is not to insert or remove carts when the Saturn is powered on. So, if the saturn doesn't recognize the memory card should i just turn it off - reinsert the memory card - and then turn the console back on until it does?
