No, with the region free BIOS you only need the 50/60hz switch (if you even care about the handful of PAL exclusives).

You need to recap it all, if one cap is on the way out multiple probably will be.

I can't honestly remember it's been so long since I used my Saturn with CDs. I guarantee you though it won't make a difference if you have it or not with an ODE.

It's fine, region free BIOS won't make any difference to it.

Any potential sources of IR pollution in your room? I know some VR headsets can cause this.

In the Hunt plays like a run and gun, but you're controlling a little submarine.. unusually for a 2D game though, the PS1 version is regarded as the better one.

I think people on sites like www.romhacking.net/ would be able to guide you pretty well. TrekkiesUnite118 does post on here occasionally and has been involved in quite a bit of translation work.

Picked up Vampire Saviour after trying it on my MODE, I suck at fighting games but this is really an essential Saturn purchase.

Yeah I still play the Saturn port of Sega Rally from time to time myself, despite having the PS2 and Model 2 emulator versions.
Welcome, it's been pretty quiet this past few years on here, but there's still a handful of regulars.

Another possibility they motherboard swapped it but I can't see that since they would then need to do some sort of region mod on it.

You confirmed with your multimeter that pin 1 is going to pin 8 on the SCART end?
Do you know the history of the console, perhaps someone tried to do a cysnc restore on it?

Yeah I'd always recommend against getting a premodded system from eBay since they are actually not allowed on there, there's no reputable sellers selling them on there just fly by nights. Your other option of course is some kind of optical drive emulator which makes it a lot easier to explore homebrews, hacks etc without having to burn a pile of coasters. They are also easy to fit and won't require the services of a modder as they simply plug in where the optical drive was originally.

Honestly it's pretty odd to find a Saturn with a mod chip but without a region free mod of some kind, so none of this stuff you're using has been all that extensively tested. I'm sure I'm not the only person thinking, if you've gone to the trouble to do those mods, why not a region free BIOS as well?
