Have you tried with another Saturn? It could be a fault in your unit.

Nero DiscSpeed, formerly Nero CD-DVD Speed, can display the C1/C2/CU errors on a disc, so it is suitable for this purpose. It's also a free download that you can grab separately (and free) from the full Nero suite. Imgburn has a post-burn validation setting, is that what you mean? Word of warning, I had burns before where Imgburn verified the disc after burning, and the disc still ended up having corrupt data on it.

why not just a JPN console with black PAL replacement case but still with the blue buttons from the JPN console ? PAL cases don't have the 3rd screw for the top-mounted power supply (unless the guy drilled it out), and the SEGA logo is missing from the top of the case.

yeah they're cowboys, i just don't have the extra cash to buy a fifth saturn like i said. it's the no serial number stick and the little blue button that do it for me, maybe a test developer unit to test games for each region? Those have the case cut out for a rotary dip switch that can set all 16 regions. I'm fairly sure this machine is just a HST-3200 painted black, with the power supply changed to a PAL one.

There was a late model 2 Korean unit that looked like that actually, but it had a white logo (with red decal on the middle "S") and it was a model 2.

I just noticed, the power supply connector is black, so it definitely has a PAL power supply in there (Japanese ones were of course grey, to match the systems colour).

Very impressive. The lowest I managed to buy was 004930.
When it arrives, would you consider doing a disassembly + detailed photo session for the machine? Or if not, then perhaps selling it (or trading it for my 004930)?
B400000001 may not have been released, but held inside for quality assurance tests. I have a low serial hst-3210 which has "Quality Assurance Test Department unit 12/15" stickers on it (in Japanese of course).

Just a JP console swapped into a PAL or US case with the JP buttons. That's a PAL VCD card with it too. It was most likely painted over, not case swapped. The top has the Japanese logo on it, and the cartridge cover doesn't have text etched to the plastic (like in hst-3200 units). And it boots Japanese games. Maybe only the power supply was swapped from a PAL unit, since it comes with UK power cables? Best way to test without opening up would be running a simple VCD on it. The machine will then just say that the disc is unsuitable or needs some extra hardware, since the cards are region locked. But, I think games can still use them.

Maybe you got a game that is incompatible with Pseudo, or you weren't fully successful when flashing the cart.

Put a jumper (from an old PC) into the 2-pin connector on the side of the drive. It's not a perfect fit, but it is enough to make it connect.

50/60hz switch doesn't spoil the aesthetics either, you can hide it nicely next to the battery slot (and yes, MPEG cards still fit if you use a simple switch).

It's dirt simple to install a 50/60 switch and I'd always prefer to be external so you can switch PAL titles to 60hz too.
Besides it's not like there are so many reasons to keep a Saturn in 50hz to begin with. There are a small handful of good, optimized titles, but if you are into importing (which is what you'd need the region free bios for), you can grab all those optimized games much cheaper, and not a lot (if any) of them are text heavy either.

Best method to get imports done is region free bios in my opinion. Install it once, and game region is never a problem after that.

At one time I got one that couldn't read CDRs, and I could adjust it in pretty much the same way as I do JVC ones.
