With so may thread about the best games on Saturn over the net what do people think are the worse? Here's a few of the Saturn games I wish I hadn't played!
The Incredible Hulk: The Pantheon Saga is just terrible and got hammered at review back in the 90's such a waste of the Hulk license, if it wasn't for Capcom and Marvel Super Heroes, this could have been Hulks only game on the System, phew.
The House of the Dead, love the arcade game but the port by tantalus was just sub standard when compared to Virtua Cop 1 & 2, mid level loading and a weak frame rate mean the port has aged really badly.
Black Fire, by far the worse of the helicopter games on the Saturn, with almost everything wrong with it:

Whilst it isn't as good as Virtua Cop 1 & 2, It is nowhere near a game to avoid. Out of all the really bad Saturn games out there (and there are a few hideous ones) House of the Dead wouldn't even make a top 20 worst games list. Yes it has a weak frame rate but that doesn't render the gameplay terrible. You picked up on mid-level loading, Virtua Cop 2 also has mid-level loading although its not as long, it still there. Personally I found when playing with a Lightgun I was extremly grateful for the mid-level loading as it gave my hands time to relax from all the point and shoot mayhem. Whereas the Virtua Cop series may be overall better games, challenge wise House of the Dead is alot more satisying and gives you far more value for money. I don't think its weak frame rate is enough to warrant an avoid. Some of the most loved Saturn games come with their own problems like the glitchyness in Burning Rangers, the low res of FIghters Megamix, the terrible draw distance in the original Daytona, the severe slowdown in Guardian Heroes. If those games are celebrated with their impediments, why can't House of the Dead be as well? I agree with your other two choices though

Each to their own I spose but it's regarded as a top sega Saturn game. For me, the WORST EVER Saturn game would be NBAJAM Extreme. Massive load of shit that game!

I second that. You can add Jurassic Park, Die Hard Trilogy and Mortal Kombat Trilogy to that list as well.

4x4 Hardcore, Battle Monsters, Defcon 5 and Actua Soccer, off the top of my head... there's plenty more out there! We shouldn't be surprised that after 20 years, some games just don't stand up any more.

I'm not sure if this will help, but just try imagining that The House Of The Dead is a 60% complete prototype rather than a polished retail product and I find its various problems are much easier to forgive... (What? That actually WAS the case?!)
As for Mortal Kombat Trilogy, I'm just grateful I buckled and downloaded the ISO for this one before coughing up £100 or whatever it now trades hands for on eBay - thanks, but I'm more than happy to just stick with Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3.
4x4 Hardcore was probably titled to describe anyone that is willing to defend this horrible example of a supposed game. I must apologise for being such a sceptic, but aren't games by their very definition meant to be fun to at least some degree?
Anyone who wants to consider Fighters Megamix as one of the worst examples of software on the Saturn can join me in a ring any day... just don't be surprised if I start charging wildly at you in body armour with a Flying V, just like a certain Raxel!

I'm on the fence regarding House of the Dead. If they had been less ambitious and went without/or less textures giving it a more cartoony Virtua Cop look I think it would look better and age better.

Saturn Doom. Wasted enough time already talking about this crappy port. Buy the Psone version instead and enjoy!

That Euro 96 Soccer Game was horrible too. Still have nightmares about how bad it was.

Good call on The Incredible Hulk: The Pantheon Saga. I've never played the game, but it manages to be one of the few games I know of which you can see is awful to play just from watching gameplay footage. I would like to bring up Corpse Killer: Graveyard Edition - those of you in PAL land and Japan can thank the good Lord that this abomination was never sent your way. People like to make fun of live action FMV, but what really makes this game frighteningly bad is that it is so unbelievably repetitive. If you die in battle with a soldier zombie, you have to replay the last seven levels all over again. If you win the battle? You still have to replay the last seven levels all over again, because you have four soldiers to rescue, and for some reason your character insists on rescuing them one at a time. What really gets me is this isn't a case of repetition because FMV is expensive to film and takes up a lot of disc space. There's plenty of footage; it just all shows basically the same thing. Soldier A charges at you in zombie form, soldier A changes back to normal and gives you a key card. Soldier B charges at you in zombie form, soldier B changes back to normal and gives you a key card. And so on. So the developers actually thought the game would be more fun if the player were forced to do the same thing over and over again and watch the same story events over and over again.

Digital Pictures though... Amirite?

Hello I disagree with you about Black Fire as that is one of my favorite Saturn games. I say this because it is entertaining and challenging. I like the missions and you can only appreciate it if you have the mission stick. I think it was meant for the mission stick in mind. I think the company that made the game is a good one which is Nova Logic which also makes another good helicopter flight sim Comanche.

Robo Pit is fun as hell. Not the most polished game, but a TON of fun.
