Does anyone else think bug is ugly? In what way? He's probably talking about the style of the game, the graphics are great, but the character models are kind of ugly because of the art style. I like the gameplay, but I'm also not too fond of the art direction of the game. But that's just a matter of personal preferences, of course.

I tried to play Bug two weeks ago. It's just so slow. I don't think its ugly though. The lack of a save feature really kills it for me.

Because of this thread I popped in Bug for the first time in forever. I actually have no problem with it. I think the graphical style is very well done and clean. Sometimes those early 2D sprites put on a 3D setting didnt age amazingly but I think Bug looks and plays pretty clean. For early Saturn platformers I liked what Bug and Clockwork Knight tried.

Fighters MegaMix should be avoided at all costs. While on paper the game is awesome, once you actually play it you realise how broken the game mechanics are and how cheap the A. I. is.

IN all seriousness though I do recall that you had to change the settings to give the Virtua Fighters an even remote chance against the Fighting Vipers characters. Also, this game is borderline way too easy due to the VF3 step in/out move.

I've found that I don't care too much for shooters that are too 3D. This isn't limited to the Saturn either, but also on the PlayStation. Otherwise great games like Souky or Thunder Force V are pretty ugly compared to their 16 bit predecessors. I hear Souky gets better, so I'm going to give it a chance, though playing it I just wanted to play Layer Section instead. I agree that shmups are better in 2D form but I admit that Einhander for PS1 is one that really holds up IMO. Einhander did not look pretty to me. It has its moments, but overall I just did not like it much. I think at some point it's what one is used to.

I just have this thing for the better polygon games of the late 90s even to this day. The 2D shooters definitely hold up better. Luckily most shmups are 2D.

Does anyone else think bug is ugly? Yes. Bug is bad on all levels. I hate the level design. I hate the character design. I hate the music. I hate the controls. It is 90's as fuck. For me it was an archetypal SoA game, lacking in any charm or technical proficiency. I consider it to be the Saturn's Bubsy 3D. I know there are some people on this site who like the Bug games. I'm sorry but this is just how I feel.

It looks and plays just like Fighting Vipers but with more variety and characters. I guess that means you also hate Fighting Vipers?

That being said; I would rather use this game disc for Frisbee golf than for its intended purpose.

When my parents got me a Saturn we had VF2 included and my brother got FV the same day. Always liked the feel of Vipers more. Both are great games to play tho. MegaMix in particular is one I need to spend more time with but I remember it being solid.
