I don't care for Bug! either... Second game is a bit better but not by much.

I will admit I don't LOVE Bug but its a nice early Saturn game that is worth playing in bursts simply for the character. Had the system lasted a bit longer maybe we would have gotten a fully polygonal Bug that looked like Croc

I always found the visual aesthetic of the original Bug! to be incredibly grey and bland. I liked Bug Too! much better, though it was much too tough for me back in the day. It's one of those games I really ought to give another go at one of these days, as I still have the disc (and take great pleasure in listening to the audio tracks!).

I agree Bug II added a lot more visual pizzazz to the series.

Whoa, whoa, whoa Fighters Megamix hate? Back the truck up, beep, beep, beep. Sure, the backgrounds are lower resolution and the amount of characters in the game make the game inherently unbalanced. It was still an awesome fighting game. If I'm not mistaken, the mechanics and moves for the characters in both VF2 and FV were exactly the same. So you basically had both games in one package.
I used to play it with a buddy of mine all the time. We'd get so pissed off at each other. "You can use that character, but you can't do the cheap move." Obviously we'd do the cheap moves and we'd have to go outside for a cigarette to cool off.

I certainly don't dislike Megamix, but having played it a few months back. It was nowhere near as good as I remembered. The delayed and robotic kicking and punching is annoying. It's clearly a result of using the Fighting Vipers engine.

For bad games to avoid, I have to submit Race Drivin' the sequel to Hard Drivin' on Genesis which apparently used the exact same 3d engine. Terrible looking game with bad controls. Controversially, I don't think there was anything special about Virtua Racing or Daytona USA. It's been a while since I played Daytona, but I remember the car handling was slippery and the tracks/graphics were nothing special.

Daytona USA is just about playable. The JPN Daytona USA CE is 10 times better.
I share peoples frustrations regarding Fighters Megamix. It's a good game in 60hz mode but in 50hz I find it unbearable.

Fighters MegaMix should be avoided at all costs. While on paper the game is awesome, once you actually play it you realise how broken the game mechanics are and how cheap the A. I. is. It looks and plays just like Fighting Vipers but with more variety and characters. I guess that means you also hate Fighting Vipers? I love FV, which is balanced. FMM is not. While FMM is hardly the worst Saturn game, I find it more of a novelty than a top Saturn game. I share peoples frustrations regarding Fighters Megamix. It's a good in 60hz mode but in 50hz I find it unbearable. I can't believe I never tried it in 60Hz mode despite all the other sluggish games I played on my Japanese Saturn when I had it. I won't be trying FMM in 60Hz anytime soon unless I can find a switched Saturn.

I'm no graphics whore, but I find it hard to really like F1 Challenge with its graphics. Is Power Drift an acceptable alternative? I know its more cartoony than realistic, but that's not too much of a problem, if similar gameplay-wise. I didn't care for the random bursts of music in Virtua Racing, but I do want myself a nice, classic F1 (or F1-like) racer.

What I mean to say is, the move sets look and play the same as the original titles. It's just inherently the FV characters are stronger. Right or are there more caveats?

^^^^^ Janet is completely broken in FMM. There is literally no weaknesses. She has Aoi move set meaning she can counter most attacks, and is great at close range fighting. Not to mention all these throwing techniques, as well as having body armor live the FV characters have. However, what puts her on god tier status is that virtua gun attack. It's unblockable and takes a 1/3 of the opposing players health off. A great player using any other character is not going to overcome a good player using Janet.

I like both personally. If you're after an F1 racing game there isn't a whole heap to choose from on the Saturn. However, Andretti Racing may well worth your time. I haven't played it since 1999. I don't own it now but I do remember playing it ALOT back in the day and really enjoying it. Probabaly one of EA's better sport titles for the Saturn. Give it a go!

He he ,I was literally coming in this thread to share a memory of Andretti Racing being abysmal, with choppy graphics and dull gameplay. To be fair, I think I was also playing Gran Turismo at the time. I'm genuinely glad you enjoyed it, as it remember regretting spending £30 on it back then, which was a lot for me.

Believe me, I don't think by any stretch it was an amazing game but..... Being a Saturn owner, it was what I had and I made the best of it. I do remember my mate who had a ps1 having Formula 1 and me being insanely jealous of that game! That really was a truly amazing game. Especially for the time.
