My vote goes to Sonic R, its the one I enjoy the most, but Ill admit alot for the non-racing elements. Sonic R is more a Sports game than a Racer, as in track and field related in the world of Sonic. Contenders run under their own steam...

However, I am disappointed to see: 1) 0x votes for WipEout 2097 (which, potentially, was going to be my vote) It's worthy for it's quality by Sega Saturn standards, but it's a better game overall on PS1, if truth be told. If the PS1 version didn't exist then hell yeah there would be more votes for it. That's the problem.

I voted NFS, sad they didn't port the second one (the best) on saturn. Anyon tested Power Drift? the port seems good but I don't know if it is fun (which means are controls OK?) It's fun for a quick blast now and then, but once any goal is complete your less likely to go back to it than say OutRun 1986. As a port it runs at 30fps. The arcade music which "was" ace is annoying loud though and kinda forces you to go with the updated remix CD music instead. Thankfully the remix tunes are ace as well. You can add Galaxy Force II to the list, if the price is right then they are worth a look if they take your fancy but not necessarily games your keep going back too time and time again. They are once in a blue moon type games. Truth be told though your get more miles out of Super Hang-On for Wii, 3DS, PS3, XBOX360. That's if you haven't checked it out already.

For the Saturn no, but the Dreamcast came with a rechargeable battery. Still loses the date/time after a spell of not using it though, at least for me. Dreamcast, yeah that's the same for everyone. A brand new Dreamcast or one that has seen little use will see the internal clock battery last no longer than 2 weeks, that's with no mains power feeding the machine. Anything less than 2 weeks is down to the amount the battery has been recharged during it's life time. That's way better than Classic XBOX as that one only lasted 2 hours, (when new) with no power going into the machine.

I'm no electrician but have come across this battery power loss on something else and that ended up being related to a Zener Diode failing...
If you know what your looking at, have a look for a Zener Diode some where on the board and check that. These allow power to flow in 2 directions and why the backup ram can run off mains power as well as batteries. When these fail the batteries end up trying to power the machine instead, battery power is now going down the mains line and why you can get a drain.
That's all I remember any way.

It's strange but I always find that computer & console gear magically feels as if it's running better after a clean. It's like a reward for putting the effort in. Looking miles better than it was any way!

Cleaning the case: If the case is bad, (as in dirty rather than dusty) all over which includes the base then I would strip all the electronics out so your left with just the shell... The top half of the case can be taken apart into it's individual components which is easy enough to do. Once anything metal has been removed put all the plastic parts in to hot water and using something like a nail brush put some Flash Liquid on it and scrub all the crap off. Repeat and rinse until clean, use a tooth brush in tight areas and even cotton buds can aid in this. With the plastic being warm from a hot water rinse it will dry a lot quicker over all than using cold. Allow time for all screw holes and small gaps to dry ect properly, use cotton buds again in tight areas to aid in drying. www.tesco.com/groceries/product/details/?id=278213927

If it's not that bad and more a case that you only really notice a slight picture tilt because your looking for things being new and all..., given enough time it can correct it's self if the screen is now level. Depending on how strong the earths magnet core is in your area - a year or 2, angle of tilt depending... You can always plug a Dreamcast, Classix XBOX, PS2 or a DVD player (4:3 movie) on your screen to get instant results from the TV and to fine tune it. Right now the Saturn's lower res is making those scan lines standout more, (until you get used to it). Hit it hard this weekend and those scan lines will slowly disappear.

Nice to hear you have found a better condition one! One thing I will say at this point..., where possible try and use external speakers instead of the ones inside the TV. The TV may last longer overall if the electronics are not being vibrated to death. Just don't go using old speakers with big magnets as they will damage the tube of course, or if that's your only option then place them away from the screen. Nothing better than having a reason to check out all your fav games all over again, enjoy!

It's only enjoyable on Saturn if your ignorant to every other version of Doom out there. Either that or this...

Welcome Chris, You should fit in well as most of us do a bit of everything from consoles, handhelds and computers. The old brand rivalry is more a thing of the past these days, I mean we are in it for the games if you get my meaning. Enjoy any way.

Doom on Saturn is spelt: Q U A K E Welcome by the way. Small tip: Putting the sound in Mono for Saturn Doom will make the game run a little smoother, it also fixes sound bugs that you may of heard from playing it in stereo.

Maybe some bad resistor, if I remember correct some prevent power going in two directions but when these fail the power can then go down a line where it was not supposed too, causing a leak...
