This works really well, took a few attempts with the disc swapping but it took about 15 minutes to get it all done. Well worth it, can trial run a few games I was 50/50 about buying without any faffing about.

Just to reiterate Sych's point about the model 2 pads, they are absolutely fan-fucking-tastic for fighting games. The only d-pads that come close are the one's on the recent Hori Commander pads (PS3/PS4) and surprisingly, the PS4 d-pad.

That's how they were played in the arcade, so why not play them that way I always tell myself that yet after 10 minutes of using a stick I find myself reaching for a pad. Quite odd really, going back to when SF2 came out on the SNES I remember how awkward that felt but now it's the other way around. It's not so much the stick, but the button layout. I'm thinking it would take a few weeks/months to change that mentality.

I took a break from the above, to sneak in a bit of Die Hard Arcade today. Afterward, I headed over to YouTube, to see the actual arcade version (MAME). Doing so made me appreciate, how good the Saturn port really is. The Arcade had a higher polygon count, and it was a little more polished, but the Saturn version is really close, and it brings the exact same feeling. Once you get used to the somewhat clunky digital controls, it's a blast to play. While checking out the YouTube videos, I also noticed that there are a lot of moves to pull off in the game, that I didn't know about. I'll be spending some time later, digging into that. My copy of this turned up yesterday but not had a chance to play it through, my Saturn is in hibernation until I've completed Arkham Knight.

Picked up this today and coudlnt be happier! Paid $50aud - $25pound for it. Case/Manual/Disk all in mint condition and boy do I love this game! WOW! Does suffer from a little bit of slow down but for me doesn't take away from the fun of the game at all! Actually the first time I have played this! Never had it back in the day and to be honest don't even remember it being in Australia. (I purchased it from EBayUK) I had X-MEN COTA back in the 90's but I think this was released at a time where the Saturn was really really struggling here at the time and thus I doubt many copies of this game where ever even released here. Not a lot of characters to choose from compare to todays fighters but this game IMO has a great cast of very enjoyable characters to use - Wolverine, Spiderman, Hulk, Juggenaught, DR Doom, Captain America etc. Rather then just a whole bunch of characters thrown in that you would probably never even use. Easily my favourite fighter now! Been playing that myself over the weekend, sadly my perception of how I remembered it doesn't match up to the actual experience. It was one of my favourite games back in the day but coming back to it now is a little bit painful. With that said i'll always have a soft spot for it and Capt. America's theme.

Nothing spectacular but it took just over 2 months to arrive, surface shipping from Yamatoku(?). There was a smell of awesomeness when I opened it up, paid £62 for it and the condition is absolutely cracking along with the paperwork. No yellowing on the console itself but pad is a little 'used'. Nice to have a revision of the Saturn that doesn't have wobbly lines, the difference compared to my PAL Saturn is quite drastic.

Heheh old school, select any regular channel on your TV and manually tune it to ch36. At least you'll be able to use it until your scart lead turns up!

Believe it or not I've never played a megaman/rockman game but added it to my watch list a week or two back.
If run & gun is your thing, Elevator Action Returns is worth a look. Pricey though, managed to grab it for about £45 but average price on feebay is currently between £70-£120.

I think D&D's appeal is in it's longevity, Tower of Doom not so much but definitely Shadow over Mystara. One of the only arcade fighters that warrants multiple playthroughs to discover all the content. Plus the challenge of a 1 credit completion is there with enough dedication. Loving the look of Nekketsu Oyako though, that one just got added to my list.

Imgburn has a post-burn validation setting, is that what you mean?

The port of Waku Waku is pretty shite to be honest but it's still great fun. FHD is another Neo Geo port and worth a look if you like your fighters. I know what you mean though. There are so many cracking games and every time I think I'm just about done, I see a title I've never heard of then make the mistake of looking it up on YouTube...another added to the wishlist.

Had a few goodies through over past week or so: Dungeons & Dragons has quite a bit of sun fading on the one end, however it came with the outer sleeve and the spine card. Only time i've seen it listed on eBay with both so I pounced on it quite rapidly. More interestingly though, Waku Waku 7 was wrapped in the following fodder... I've edited it slightly as to not corrupt the innocent, bit different to bubble wrap eh.

The individual games do appear to have both (from what I've checked at least). Afterburrner II, pressing R2 3 times in the options unlocks the tracks with melodies, Outrun they're all available and Space Harrier I've not checked it yet. I've not got the PAL collection so couldn't tell you how they compare. Edit: I meant right trigger or what ever it is, thinking of Playstation pad.

looks like the one in shenmue. The one in Shenmue is a lighter shade of grey, like the original JPN Saturn. Only reason I know that is because I popped it onto the top of the TV in Shenmue about 2 days back.
