It's been a long long time, but I recall someone mentioning that unplugging the controllers before powering on the machine makes the game boot up. I could be wrong though. Gave that a crack but no dice. Bit of a mystery this one, I've tried on four Saturns so far, only noted the bios on one which was 1.01 but two model 1 and two model 2 systems with same result. Also tried booting it with an Action Replay, nothing. Last test was burn a ripped copy and again, not even a hint of it booting so figure there must be someone out there who has it working else I'd expect a fair few mentions of it on tinternet.

Been a while! Anyone here happen to have In the Hunt for JPN Saturn? Been after it for a long time but always put it off, finally pick it up and sods law...it won't boot. Get the initial Sega splash screen then nothing. Disc continues to spin for two minutes or so until coming to a stop.
Have seen the odd mention or two of it on other forums from years back, that maybe the model and bios have something to do with it, kind of like Outrun.
So anyone here have it working on their Saturn? If so could you possibly confirm the model and bios your Saturn uses?

I can use my AR with both my PAL and JPN consoles. But I only play official games. I was of the impression that the AR needs its firmware changed to play burned games but I could be wrong about that. To change the firmware you need the version of the AR cart that has the old parallel port on top of it. I'm not sure if they are made with that any more. Yep it needs to be flashed with Pseudo Saturn to play backups, you sacrifice the backup function of the cart but the 1M/4M stays intact. Couldn't say which versions it works with but it doesn't specifically need the port to be flashed with the Pseudo software.
chinozor The cartridge slot isn't region specific, any cart will work in any region Saturn to my knowledge. As for English versions of Japanese games, only if they've received a fan translation. Not many have, Policenauts, Shining Force 3 (Scenario 2-3) and Dragon Force 2 would be the most notable, not much outside of that i'm afraid.

Think I got my iso for that from isozone. Fairly certain it wouldn't burn with imgburn, used alcohol 120% but it's been a while so not too sure.

I've been meaning to look at this myself, the buttons look like they would directly swap out with some OSBF-30 snap-ins. Do you know if you have the Seimetsu or Ascii stick/buttons? You can usually tell by raising the dust cover for the stick. I'm guessing if your buttons have crapped out then they're Ascii.

I was gonna say it looks similar issue to what I had with mine. If it works fine for 30 mins or so then starts acting up when you turn it off and back on then the PSU needs a cap added to it.
If not, I imagine Zyrobs will appear at some point and let you know what needs to be done.

Any idea how long the wait generally is and how I check where i'm at in the waiting list for an OSSC? Fairly certain I signed up at the beginning of April, received a newsletter on the 20th April advising another batch was about ready but nothing outside of that.

atolm Cheers for the info, I'll look into it. X68k arrived today and it's a shame the mini struggles the way it does over scart. After much fannying about i got something resembling a pretty good image: Short lived though, random dropouts with Capcom games and the mini will often refuse to resync and require a power cycle.

Ahhh that's awesome, I've not received my X68k yet but I'm thinking it may have issues with my xrgb mini. I'll sign up for next batch when I'm at my PC next, thanks for the confirmation.

Does anyone know if this has been tested with an x68000 at any stage? Would be quite interested in knowing if it behaves itself and could sway my decision to order one in.

I'd be quite tempted by one if I didn't have the FM. I like the fact it would play nicely when the resolution flips in games like Akumajo X on Saturn and Rival Schools ,but the way it handles sound wouldn't really fit into my setup. :/

I think he's trying to say the Saturn won't even attempt to read burned discs but it reads pressed discs fine. Normally it would at least spin up and list tracks, state the disc isn't recognised or something to that extent if it's unmodded.
In my experience if the disc doesn't spin then the lens isn't detecting a disc. Maybe try another brand of CD-R?

If the game isn't native to the hardware assume it to be emulated, it's easier and far more cost effective over recompiling the source on a system like the Saturn. Especially if those groups of games all run on the same hardware to begin with.
There are exceptions of course, i'm no expert but Elevator Action Returns and Chase HQ on the Saturn were ports whereas the version of it within the Taito Legends compilations(PS2/Xbox) is emulated for example.

I have a friend who uses a wall mounted monitor that can be rotated 90 degrees, best solution I've seen to date as you can flip it by just reaching out and twisting it. Outside of that, I think you've already tried the alternative.
Something cheap like this:
Wall Mounting Bracket
