You don't need a sync splitter. The board accepts RGBS input. Really? I don't think that was always the case. They must have updated the board. That's good to know. it's always accepted RGBS from what I know. They were originally designed to be a cheap drop in for arcade machines for retrofitting a cheap LCD screen in place of an old CRT. JAMMA standard is composite sync.

All the Micomsoft XRGBs before the Framemeister have VGA output, as do a number of other old linedoublers. If you go with the GBS-8200, you'll need a sync splitter to connect RGBS consoles to the input, which is RGBHV. If your DVI input is digital, you should be able to use one of those cheap RGB-to-HDMI converters (which will also process 240p incorrectly) and then use a simple cable adapter to go from HDMI to DVI. You don't need a sync splitter. The board accepts RGBS input.

I'm using this one from Amazone Don't see any blurry nor any issue I can think of... youtu.be/RS55pmLIEjAThat guy doesn't know what he's talking about. That goes for a few of his videos I've seen. He doesn't really do any research for his videos, just puts in the minimum effort for content. That's the same scaler. It deinterlaces 240P, again watch 6:30 - 11:30. They actually cover the issues it has.

if you have relatively recent PC monitor with HDMI input you can use $45 RGB->HDMI upscaler from Amazon. I'm sure FM is amazing but on my Dell PC monitor the PQ is certainly good enough that doesn't warrant the extra expense for FM That thing is junk though. Watch the first part of the video buck posted: www.youtube.com/watch?v=lHoOKLWIMKUBlurry in motion, 240P is treated as 480i.

Saturn gamers complaining about cost. L O Llet's see, buy Burning Rangers and Shining Force 3. OR buy a Framemeister and Rhea, play those games anyway, and on a 60"hdtv. Tough call. So get an RGB monitor then; still cheaper than a Framemeister. And you only have to deal with 480i flicker on the few games that used it, everything else runs in 240p. Unfortunately those few games are some of the Saturn's best titles. Astra, necronomicon, VF2, Fighting Vipers, Last Bronx, Megamix, DOA etc.. I'm done with CRTs. I had a PVM, sold it after I bought the framemeister. Consoles are hooked up to the main entertainment center. Remember, you're the guys who brought up CRTs for no reason in a thread where the OP was asking about upscaling. You think he doesn't know what an old TV looks like? Probably a reason he's asking.

Get a half decent CRT and use that. Even with composite video, it'll look better than a modern TV with RGB - even if you use an XRGB to upscale it. Pretty much this. I have a cute little CRT solely for my Saturn. Yeah... not really. Framemeister with scanlines and RGB is going to look closer to a RGB monitor than a consumer set with composite video. Sorry. You can also have that nauseating 480i flicker. I'll enjoy my games looking more like 480P, thanks.

I have never ever seen a FM switch anywhere near that quickly. Do you have output frame lock off? It's particularly annoying in Virtua Fighter for instance, since character select is in 240p. I find this annoying enough with the OSSC and unplayable with FM. Edit: So scratch all of that. I just tried it again having not messed with it for a while. The timer actually runs at half speed (?) So I guess it's more like 5 seconds and some change.

Thanks for the info, I'll sort out the RGB cable first and look into the FM. No problem, and unlike some other products, the framemeister is readily available to purchase. ; )

The FMs slow 240p to 480i transitions render a lot of those games very frustrating to play though. Not in the slightest. Other than watching the Fighter's Megamix credit roll (which is basically not possible). I can't think of a 3D fighter where it impacts actual gameplay. The delay is also largely dependent on your display. Using the 240p test suite resolution switch timer with the framemeister, my TV is a consistent 2.4 seconds. As shown in the video you posted, the OSSC isn't exactly immune from this either and also causes a HDMI resync. And given that the framemeister is much more suited for 480i content, the extra second or two is a worthy trade off.

Whatever you choose, the first step is to make sure the HDTV (or monitor) you're planning to use is as fast as possible. Ideally ,input lag of 30ms or less.
You also need an RGB cable (preferably SCART) for the Saturn absolutely no question whatsoever.
I'd also still recommend the Framemeister for the saturn. There's quite a bit of 480i content for the system, namely any of the major 3D fighters, and the framemeister handles it outstandingly well.

I don't have a PVM anymore, but that looks like a Sync issue. Does the monitor have a manual knob to adjust the level?

Outrun at 60fps, most definitely.
