Almost at the end of 2017 and I believe I've managed to obtain all the games that quenched my curiosity. I still have a feign interest in Blast Wind but will probably never purchase it. My Saturn collection has changed drastically. I realised I was hoarding games that I wasn't really playing and decided to have a massive clearout. Most of my Saturn games now have ended up being Saturn exclusives. I suddenly took a disliking to many games that could be found on multiple consoles. Certain PAL games I sold off for JP versions but happy to say my I've hit my target and probably won't ever buy anymore Saturn games. Sounds like new year good resolution. Those are meant to be broken you know ! Your Saturn collection is not complete without cheap and expensives games like Gals Panic, Taromaru, Hyper Duel. Please post the next time you buy a game

Nice memory, we all have to start somewhere with the Saturn. My GF bought mine for Christmas, with Radiant Silvergun and a Virtua Stick. Can you find a better girlfriend ? Now she's my wife and mother of (almost) 2 kids

I must admit I did not launch it yet. The reviews I read are quite bad, guess it came out too late and was not the FF game the fan of the arcade game expected. I paid what it goes for today I guess, maybe a little less in the $250 range. Which is not reasonable as stated earlier.

Damn, £65 for spined Night Strikers is a steal, good find marc. I guess I do not watch carefully enough, or you'd have had an opponent on this one.
I second the goodness of Guardian Force too, tank shooters for not everybody is better than tank battle for everybody (see a certain very popular mobile app).
Recently, I've also been buying a lot to complete my collection, but am ashamed to post picture since it would only show how weak and unreasonable I am when it comes to collecting. Small list : - Panzer Saga US - Final Fight Revenge - Other Capcom 2d fighting - Some nice puzzle like Magical Drop and Puyo Puyo Sun - Capcom Generations 3 & 4 to complete the full shmups set, with obscure shmup titles in those collections.

MKR is one of those rare J-RPG that was ported to US by Working Designs, and brilliantly. It is your typical Action-RPG with colorful characters, enjoyable story, nice combats. There must be many others like this on the JP system, but the langage barrier does not help.
Moreover, MKR was delayed a lot of time and more than 2 years passed between the moment it was announced in US, and the moment it came out. Add to this the fact that it was the last game to be released for the US system, and you get a big hype.
Of course, the JP version is not that hyped and costs a merely $10 in comparison to the $300 for the US version.
To mods : I guess this discussion does not belong here, maybe move ?

Welcome to the forum. Sat is the best for sure.
Some really good stuff in modern gaming too though, medley : - Sin & Punishment 2 (Wii) - Souls series : Demons Souls (PS3), Dark Souls and sequels (PS3/4), Bloodborne (PS4) - Mario Karting if you have friends to play with - JP Shmups (X360), Cave ones are the best, follower to Batsugun and Dodonpachi on the Saturn.
Have fun.

Hmmm, I kind of second the "look at beginner's advice to start", but only really beginners advice. One really nice aspect of the game is that you have to discover everything by yourself, so not spoiling oneself too much is good.
Beginner's advice on those points you have to allocate when levelling up : - Put points in End (max 40), and Vit. - Do no put points in Res. - Put just enough points in Str/Dex to use that weapon you seem to like. - Do not spread your points. - If you do not know what to do with your souls, upgrading the Pyro flamme is a pretty good choice to delay the moments where you'll decide where to invest.

Come on misters, 1CC Radiant is not that hard. The game is mainly memorization, and there are safe routes in almost every stages. Though, when not scoring properly, the pre-last boss Xyga can become a massive pain.
Dark Souls is indeed amazing, even when dying. I had a long (like 10+ years) break from videogames, came back to it with a lot of shmups on the Saturn and such, but could not get into "modern" gaming on the PS3/XBox consoles. Then I read this article about Demons Souls, bought it and whoa ! At least a game where loosing actually has consequences. The feeling of both having to progress further to uncover the game, and having to stay safe to keep your souls, makes for a perfect risk/reward mechanism. A little like shmups games actually : risk your life to improve your score.
As for the avatar it is only Cool Spot from the Megadrive, one of my favorite when I was young, before the break.

Just started my extremely expensive copy of Panzer Dragoon Saga. I hate taking the thing out of the box cause I don't wanna hurt that precious cardboard. Really enjoying the game though. Ahah, you do not want to store the game boxes in the cardboard box while you're playing the game though ! Taking the risk of loosing money everytime you take the game out would be too nerve breaking. Fantastic game though, enjoy.

Thank you Captain.
I had the best video-gaming time with my Saturn, when I finally could 1CC Radiant Silvergun for the 1st time for instance (though I must admit that blindly exploring Demons Souls and Dark Souls on the good ol' PS3 was even better). I still miss some major pieces in my collection, the search never ends.

I did change the stick and buttons on my HSS-0136. I could not find a solution to remove the art, then putting it back in place properly.
So I just made tiny holes in the art where the screws underneath are (you can feel them as the art is a little loose there), proceeded to changes, then hid the holes with small black plastic thingies. Not perfect, but easiest I could find.

Hello SS forum,
I bought my JP Saturn when I discovered the shmup genre and wanted to get Radiant Silvergun, not available anywhere else then. Since then, I got some other shooters for the system, as well as some other games too. My most prized possessions happen to be an (almost full) set of JP shooters, and the full Working Designs US collection with all CD variants. And now I'm old. So no time to play, but money to be spent collecting, and some time to be wasted on forums like here.
