Thanks, I'm glad it's not just me taking it that way. If I got a "thanks, but that doesn't work for me", that'd be totally fine. If he said nothing at all, that'd be fine too. Why be a dick about it?

"Worthless"? Gee, sorry for ruining your day by trying to help you with something you could have easily found out on your own with a little searching. How the fuck am I supposed to know you can't shell out $30 for another AR? I'm just trying to offer you an alternate way to get what you want. I don't owe you a god damn thing.

Why don't you just flash Pseudo Saturn onto another AR cart? You'd at least still get the RAM expansion and region bypass out of that combo, and you'd only have to swap cartridges if you really needed to back up data or use cheats.
A mod chip + AR is still a better option, though, or a Rhea/Phoebe if you've got the dough to burn.

There's also Loaded. Another great run'n'gun Saturn game. I just said this... This was really meant for side-scrolling games in particular, a la Gunstar Heroes and the real Contra games. I also omitted the top-down and isometric stuff like Princess Clara Daisakusen.

In The Hunt Id throw on that list, its Metal Slug like The style is definitely Metal Slug-like, which makes sense since they're made by the same people, but beyond that, I'd say it's definitely a shmup and not a run 'n gun. It's pretty awesome nonetheless, despite the crippling slowdown. CONTRA Legacy of War is also painfully absent. This was really meant for side-scrolling games in particular, a la Gunstar Heroes and the real Contra games. I also omitted the top-down and isometric stuff like Princess Clara Daisakusen.

Die Hard Arcade is indeed one of the best looking polygon games on the Saturn as well. Its an incredible Arcade conversion. It likely has something to do with developing the game side by side the Arcade version. Well, the arcade hardware it was developed for is basically a Saturn with more RAM and no disc drive, so that probably explains it.

Radiant Silvergun does. Guardian Heroes does (or nearly does). I think Bulk Slash does too. Sports games usually find a purpose for them (World Series Baseball uses X, Y, Z, and A to correspond to each base) as do FPS games.

I played TFV with AR codes without it crashing (for infinite lives, I think). Is there a master code you missed or something?

There's no malware with either ImgBurn or Daemon as long as you pay attention when installing them. Yeah, there is. Maybe something has changed in the few months since I last tried them, but installing the free version of Daemon Tools while making sure to uncheck all extra offers still installs files flagged by anti-virus/malware programs. ImgBurn always seems to install a DLL used by OpenCandy (again, even when making sure to uncheck all extra offers). Either way, you really don't need to install ImgBurn, so extracting the executable for it is still the safer way to go.

I've read that .cdi rips using DiscJuggler are supposed to work well with the Rhea. I don't think bin/cue rips are supported, so there's no need to go down that road (side note: if you do use ImgBurn, use something like 7-zip to open the installer as an archive, extract 'ImgBurn.exe', and just run the program that way-- you'll avoid the adware crap in the installer that you always seem to get pieces of no matter what).
Look for the other Rhea threads around here; those should help you too.

Also, some more run n gun titles (i.e. Metal Slug) would have been nice too. Could have probably got MS2 & MSX out on Saturn, not to mention a 'proper' Contra and a Gunstar Heroes sequel etc... This would pretty much be my answer. It still bums me out that there are so few of these games on such a beastly 2D console, especially with the genre essentially dying off shortly thereafter. Sometimes you just really gotta hate the 3D revolution. More beat-'em-ups would have been great too. Why the hell Golden Axe: RoDA didn't get ported is beyond me; it was practically begging for it. I also probably don't even have to mention how awesome Streets of Rage 4 on the Saturn could've been.

I find any mention of the various flaws of The Lost World to be irrelevant when I reflect on the fact that you can play as the motherfucking T-Rex. That's all I needed to know about it then and that's all anyone needs to know about it now.
It's at least worth drudging through the rest of the crap for that and that alone.

The Saturn Region Patcher supports a wide variety of games and image formats, so I still think it'd be worth it to get a mod chip.

It sounds like the kind of message you get when you don't have enough free space left for new game data. I have no idea if this game in particular gives you that sort of message, but a number of games do, and it seems like they usually send you back to the disc-check screen expecting you to clear some space for them.

Are you a Fear Factory fan by any chance?
Welcome aboard. Panzer Dragoon Zwei is one of my favorites too.
