Funny, I was saying the other day that Treasure should make a collection of their hits. They have some great games, including some rare / obscure titles that maybe people haven't played. Didn't know it existed

Oh, is the game pretty unplayable then with the latency? I heard similar issues with In the Hunt too. Shame as they both look awesome. I've never actually played Metal Slug, but I've played a bunch of games inspired by them and they're a blast to play.

Oh yeah, I knew it was pricey bit that was maybe around double the price I have seen on ebay. Arguably this was in better condition, but I would hardly say enough to make that much of a difference.
Still, having that there right in front of me was tempting. Very tempting.
Still, I don't regret my purchases. And considering the price of them combined was actually more than I paid for the controller was a nice bonus too.

I've started playing SS and.... boy, this game is challenging. Admittedly it's probably harder for me as the version I picked up is entirely in French (from a Spanish shop??). I'm on the Mer Noire, which I assume is the Black Sea and I keep failing. Aside from dying too many times, my first problem was the submarines. I figured out what to do, but those crates you drop on them are really far - making it pretty tight, time-wise. I FINALLY did it and then I failed because the second big ship (a Dreadnought, perhaps?) you blow up has a Strike Agent in it and I must have killed him. I got annoyed and just turned it off for now. I'll try again later Anyway, what do you guys think of the game? Despite the difficulty, I think it's pretty fun. It controls well, and looks pretty nice too. It would be nice to be able to save mid mission (even if only once!) because the levels take ages to beat, but I guess I'll just have to "git gud", as they say. It's really cheap too. My copy was mint condition and it only cost a few quid. When I am next in England I think I'll try and get hold of the English CD. I don't need a box or anything since that's already in English, for some reason.

Welcome! I am also new to the console and, unfortunately, we have entered the world of Saturn at an expensive time. It is totally worth it though, so I hope you enjoy it! You can play backups too, so that will help.
What games have you got so far?

Went to return the 3D controller. Ended up using the money to pick up these. Also, they had just got Deep Fear in that morning in the plastic case and PERFECT condition. They wanted 250 euros for it though so I just laughed at them and grabbed these instead.

Oh yeah, I knew about the switch. It still didn't work. As I say, most of the time the thing acted possessed. Oh well, I thought the price was too good to be true :/

Well Enemy Zero works with the analogue. I tested the thing and it's broken. It worked for a couple of minutes and then acted all possessed, moving of its own volition and pressing random buttons. Same with Shinobi, but without the movement.
Either it doesn't work at all with a game, or it goes all exorcist on me. The guy is refunding me tomorrow as he doesn't have another to exchange.
Thankfully the only game I have that really benefits from it is Burning Rangers (STILL not arrived after two weeks :/ ) but some people have said that BR is fine without anyway.

Well D and Enemy Zero are made by the same people (as is D2 for the Dreamcast which I'm actually selling atm) so I imagine they have a similar feel. I haven't played D yet, but E0 and D2 have a lot of similarities. From what I have seen, D looks more like the typical FMV game where you need to do a certain thing to progress. I don't think there is anything difficult in the puzzles.
I have played Enemy Zero and it's great. I love it. The combat is stupidly hard though, although I probably only killed like four monsters. The rest of the time I just avoided them, which is way easier than trying to take them down. I'd recommend the game. If you like the Alien movies too, you will dig the story. There are a lot of similarities - especially with the first film.

The Roadblaster games are in English. I know because I did the research because I want them! Not sure about the other two.
I think Enemy Zero is considered an FMV game, and D as well, as they focus on FMV and story. They aren't live action though, if that's what you want. Neither are they QTE style FMV games.

How are lightguns on the Saturn, anyway? I have only ever played lightgun games on the wii, which have the motion control sensor, and in the arcade, which uses arcade magic to work. But are they pretty accurate on console? I don't really know how they work so I am skeptical about just how accurate they are.
I have been thinking about picking up a lightgun game (maybe virtua cop or something) but kinda on the fence about it.

I've already been enjoying your posts in the other forums, but thought I'd bid you welcome here anyway. I haven't played Alien Trilogy or Shinobi X, but I can confidently say Enemy Zero and Mr. Bones make an excellent start to your Saturn gaming! Both are still among by favorites. I got a fair amount of enjoyment out of D2 (the "final boss" battle is quite memorable) but agree that the gameplay isn't nearly as impressive as Enemy Zero's. I too don't care for racing and fighting games as a rule, and the one shmup I have for the Saturn is a long way from my top ten favorite games for the system. It hasn't stopped me from getting more hours of enjoyment out of the Saturn than any other console I've owned. I found both the Discworld games on the Saturn to be mediocre at best, especially the first one as the solutions to half the puzzles make absolutely no sense. Blazing Dragons is a much better choice for a cartoon fantasy parody point-and-click adventure game on the Saturn. The 3D controller is a great investment. It's pretty much essential for Exhumed, Nights, and Burning Rangers (level 4 is hell with the D-pad), and Enemy Zero supports it as well. Have you got the original D yet, either for the Saturn or any of the other platforms it appeared on? I'm surprised that it hasn't been mentioned yet. Hey Martiniii, E0 and Mr Bones are both great. I like how every level (more or less) of Mr Bones is unique. It's also a fair bit more challenging than I originally imagined. I haven't played D (well, not really) but I originally had it when I got my Dreamcast. However, I bought it from eBay Germany who claimed that it was in both German and English. It wasn't so I had to return it. I've been looking for a copy in reasonable condition and a decent price for a while. I've played the series backwards, but that wasn't my intention. They're pretty standalone though so it doesn't really matter. Thanks for the recommendation too, I'll check out Blazing Dragons. I have a massive list of games now that I am interested in picking up for the Saturn, so I'll be able to get countless hours of enjoyment! I'd recommend Alien Trilogy and Shinobi. Both are great. Alien Trilogy is effectively a Doom clone in the Alien universe, but like Duke, Exhumed, Dark Forces, and others, it is pretty fun in its own right. Shinobi is a fantastic game.It is a great platformer, and the parrying / blocking mechanic helps make the game a lot fairer than many other games in the franchise. The whole game is still difficult, but [for the most part] it is pretty fair. Double jumping is a lot easier to do in this too, which is nice. Anyway, I'll catch you around!
